Basically I just do not see the point of getting clean, soapy water to clean the floor and then squeezing filthy water back into it. So I use two buckets. Is that so weird? DP thinks I'm a bit odd.

To be honest, it's a fairly momentous occasion if I bother so I don't mind being a bit scrupulous.

What an exciting thing to post about, slow day in the bohemian house....

If you use two buckets you only have to clean half as often

bohemianbint · 26/06/2007 20:02

isn't mopping twice just double the work? I'm a lazy trout really so I'm always on the look out for ways to cut time spent doing rubbish jobs. (Not bothering at all seems to work quite well but not always the most popualar option round here...)

i remember watching kim and aggie and they said you should rinse with clean water after washing.

(having said that, i have only ever "rinsed" once even though i am a sahm with time on her hands who doesn't get out much )

StarryStarryNight · 26/06/2007 20:05

But I love housework!

NOT.

Actually I have a cleaner, so it is not so often that I mop myself...

iota · 26/06/2007 20:08

I have one of those double buckets - with a little strainer to wring out the mop on the top

doesn't that make me sound like a domestic goddess

I don't use it often though

Cappuccino · 26/06/2007 20:16

I always use two buckets

and the dirty water is always v dirty and the clean water slightly dirty

so much better

and it doesn't take any longer ffs, you're talking seconds if at all

tell your dp I found out to do this from a book telling men how to do housework

whomovedmychocolate · 26/06/2007 20:33

I just dampen our white cat down and push her around ice hokey style, when she turns into the black cat, the floor is clean

muppetgirl · 26/06/2007 20:38

pmsl!!!!!

Boco · 26/06/2007 20:48

I have three buckets. One of them is a holding bay.

Not really, i rarely mop, just wanted to see what it would sound like. I don't think it was convincing.

whomovedmychocolate · 26/06/2007 20:50

Actually I don't own a mop bucket. I use the kitchen bowl because I put everything in the dishwasher so it has no other purpose.

You do the shake and cat and put the freshness back. Do the shake and cat and put the freshness back.

muppetgirl · 26/06/2007 20:55

......YOU PUT THE CAT IN THE DISHWASHER!!!!!

whomovedmychocolate · 26/06/2007 20:59

Only if the spinning arm isn't getting the crap off the dishes

muppetgirl · 26/06/2007 21:01

Maybe i should do that with my pesky jack russell.
that would stop him chewing everything...

whomovedmychocolate · 26/06/2007 21:40

No, Jack Russells are more dusting pets. They growl at the windows and the resulting spittle is much better than pledge

muppetgirl · 26/06/2007 21:43

OMG that's where I've been going wrong!!!
I'm throwing the pledge away

bohemianbint · 27/06/2007 09:49

How interesting, I actually have two cats (and two buckets, get me eh!) and I suppose I could strap them on to my feet and just wander around until the floor is clean. Or they stop fighting it, whichever comes first...

Have to say that having come downstairs after showering and found the bloody jack russell has weed on the sofa/cushion and pulled out the stuffing out of another cushion. I am going to buy a large bucket, fill it with clean water, wash the floor and then drown him in it

muppetgirl · 27/06/2007 09:53

...don't worry, will do the floor first.

Katy44 · 27/06/2007 10:25

PMSL!!
