To ask if you hate bras as much as me??

I’ve gained weight over the last few years (4 stone, cheers citalopram) and I literally can’t find a bra that doesn’t dig in. The ones fitted in 2 separate places are even worse. It’s the underwire.

Think I may have to resort to one of those stretchy ones. Any recommendations?

Are you definitely wearing the right size? Have you tried the boob or bust calculator recently? I’ve gained weight and my bras were pissing me off, did some measuring and discovered my bras are now way out, so no wonder they’re uncomfortable.

Molke!

explodingkitten · 16/12/2018 12:12

If your underwire is digging in then you are wearing the wrong size.

I'm a 44F. I have to wear the exact correct size bra or I'll be uncomfortable.

Kikithewitch · 16/12/2018 12:15

I do, I have really well fitted bras that cost a small fortune but I still hate them.
I don’t really like tight fitting clothes and I like to hang free when I can!
On the weekend if we are staying home and not going out I don’t bother wearing one at all, but I’m a 34ff and unfortunately need to wear them if I leave the house.

PookieDo · 16/12/2018 12:26

I have very painful cystic breasts and now can only wear non underwired bras. To be honest they don’t look as good as a lovely push up bra but for comfort reasons I will never go back to underwire now. I get mine from M&S and they are really pretty - I get the ones with support non underwire bralets. They don’t look like sports bras

Boredspice · 16/12/2018 12:28

No my bras are fine. I am chubby and although my silhouette isn’t great they don’t hurt or anything. I get mine from Bravissimo and wouldn’t shop anywhere else now!

MyBreadIsEggy · 16/12/2018 12:32

I waved goodbye to bras when I had my second baby.
Couldn’t find a nursing bra that fit properly, so I used stretchy crop-top type things, and have just never gone back.
I’m not blessed in the boobage department anyway, so I don’t really need any support, so the crop-tops, and pretty little bralets do me fine.
I do not miss the days of being impaled by a wandering underwire Hmm

Oceanbliss · 16/12/2018 12:33

I stopped wearing bras when I had a shoulder injury and couldn't wear them. I have never gone back. I hate wearing a bra. Uncomfortable, make me sweat under my boob's, and are completely unnecessary except maybe for support while running. I feel like I might be judged out in public so I'll wear a singlet or tube top under my clothes to make it look like I'm wearing a bra. I have big boob's too but just don't ever want to wear a bra ever again.

WillowPeach · 16/12/2018 12:37

Exercise bras! I wore one once as a last resort and man I’ll never look back. So comfy and supportive. No digging or anything. Love em

madcatladyforever · 16/12/2018 12:39

I only wear bras like Doreen now i can't stand anything that digs in or is too tight. Sexy they are not but they look great under clothing.

recklessruby · 16/12/2018 12:40

I love crop tops and bralettes. I m not big there so they are fine. No nasty underwires, no chafing lace.
I have a big scar from a spinal op right where bra wires sit so I would rather be comfortable.
I hate regular bras too and will never go back to them.

cavycavy · 16/12/2018 12:40

I’m not the only one then! I literally walk through the door (at home!) and take mine off immediately and breathe a sigh of relief.

Will check out booborbust and that molke (is that a brand).

I agree and I'm quite slim (at the moment). Think I have sensory processing issues as this explains a lot of things I struggle with.
Best bras I've found are panache porcelain, but only d cup up.

Handbaghag · 16/12/2018 12:45

I went to bravissimo, got measured, found that Panache Clara fit me perfectly and ever since have bought various colours in that style from eBay new, but more than half price

NotBeforeCoffee · 16/12/2018 12:48

I was just thinking this morning that the fact of wearing a bra being the norm is just a social construct. Why do we do it?
What's wrong with a bit of natural shape, jiggling and nips protruding?
They are so annoying, I never wear mine except when in public

redsummershoes · 16/12/2018 12:50

no, mine are comfortable.
right fit, non wire.

cavycavy · 16/12/2018 12:54

I hate that society says we must wear a bra. I know some will argue it helps support the upper back. But I argue that the pain from the straps and wire cancels that out.

bonzo77 · 16/12/2018 12:55

I used to love bras. But something happened and I cannot tolerate wires. There’s a bra called sugar candy from Bravissimo. No wires, really good shape and suppprt. It’s definitely worth a go.

yoyo1234 · 16/12/2018 12:58

Loathe them. Not worn them for years.

Butteredghost · 16/12/2018 12:59

The opposite for me, the bigger I am, the more I like bras and wear them all the time. I even wear my underwire bra to bed.

Anniversarysavings · 16/12/2018 13:12

Hate bras, never wear them around the house or if I’m nipping out and can get away with it.

What with being pregnant though they have reached the point where sometimes I have to depending on what I’m wearing, otherwise they might poke an eye out.

Luckily my partner knows and is onboard, if I get in and he knows I’m wearing one his first words will be stop torturing yourself and get that bra off immediately Grin

When I have to wear one I wear a sports bra, much more comfy and still offer brilliant support but none of the digging in and feels just like wearing a crop top.

kalinkafoxtrot45 · 16/12/2018 13:13

I am large of bust and going braless is not an option unless I want to walk everywhere very slowly, never run for a bus or dance anything other than a hand jive. Now I’ve got the right size my bras are very comfy and M&S had a great underwired style this year with cotton, I bought three. Soft bras just don’t give the support I need to stop my bosoms flinging themselves painfully around, especially during PMT time.

skybluee · 16/12/2018 13:15

I hate them. I don't wear them. I wear a vest top/camisole instead.

FoxFoxSierra · 16/12/2018 13:15

I wear the sport type now, no wires and no fasteners just pull it on and I will never go back to normal bras now. Life changer seriously!

riotlady · 16/12/2018 13:18

Yup, I’m still wearing my nice soft nursing bras even though I haven’t breastfed in nearly 8 months! I don’t think I could go back to underwire. Sometimes wear a little vest top instead
