SIL stole £65 from online website

Don’t know if I am being uptight but I’m really annoyed by this!!!
My SIL ordered some high end beauty products costing £60 plus delivery. She left them on the tube after collecting from the pick up point.

She then emailed the company to say they had not been delivered and asked them to resend and free deliver for the inconvenience which they did!!! She put pics on Instagram bragging about it and pleased about her new “babies” arriving.

I find it really immoral !

I hope the company investigates this. Dishonest git.

minisoksmakehardwork · 15/12/2018 06:41

Was the pick up point like those amazon lockers or was it a shop person she collected from?

There's likely to be evidence somewhere that they were sent to the pick up point so she may well be caught out eventually.

ElektraLOL · 15/12/2018 06:42

She's an idiot to be bragging about it on Instagram tbh.

If I were you though I wouldn't think too much about it. Karma and all...

StoneofDestiny · 15/12/2018 06:49

She is a thief - we all end up paying for theft by other people one way or another.

GaryBaldbiscuit · 15/12/2018 06:51

she lost them in the tube so she lied and they sent them again. their loss really.

Imalittleelf · 15/12/2018 06:51

Surely she still paid for them it's just someone else got a bunch of free items that they basically stole instead of handing in to lost and found?

Or did she also retrieve the lost items and therefore has also got new ones for free??

Kisskiss · 15/12/2018 06:57

That’s theft. She lost them on the tube and lied to get them replaced, at someone else’s expense.
Bragging about it after on instagram is a really idiotic thing to do. I hope someone from the company sees it and investigates... no crime is victimless, these guys are running a business and she just stole 65 quid out of their pockets

WeMarchOn · 15/12/2018 07:03

Surely she signed for the original package? They should have checked before sending a new lot?

StoneofDestiny · 15/12/2018 07:15

Surely she still paid for them
She paid for 1 set and was given that. She lost what she paid for - now she has stolen a second set. It’s theft and can’t be dressed up any other way.

Imalittleelf · 15/12/2018 07:22

Yes I see what you mean stone.

Brain not switched on this time of the morning.

Did she contact lost and found to see if her package had been handed in?

Cclmsc · 15/12/2018 07:25

and how exactly does it concern you?

sulflower · 15/12/2018 07:47

and how exactly does it concern you?

Are you the SIL?

She's not only a thief, she's a liar. She sounds a real treat bragging about it and deserves to be caught out.

Tink2007 · 15/12/2018 07:49

If she collected them though there will be something to say she actually collected them?

Zbag · 15/12/2018 07:53

Meh.
I wouldn't do it but its not something I'd get annoyed about either

SoloD · 15/12/2018 07:58

As someone who runs their own business, I know the impact this can have, it's not like we have a lavish lifestyle, and we have to work very hard (was up till 3am last night), theft from us come directly out of our pockets, I truly hope she gets caught she is a thief.

There is no such thing as a victimless crime.

paintinmyhairAgain · 15/12/2018 07:58

how does it concern you ? it concerns everyone shitty people like this force the prices up on goods, the companies won't lose out, why should they ?

KitKat1985 · 15/12/2018 08:00

You could screenshot her Instagram bragging and report it to the company anonymously? But personally, despite the fact that I would be mightily unimpressed by the behaviour, I wouldn't risk family arguments over it.

Housemum · 15/12/2018 08:07

I can't see how she could claim for non-delivery when they have been collected! She must have had to show ID or enter a locker code.

We had a signed-for-only parcel dumped on the doorstep the other day, luckily we were in and I got the text to say it had been delivered. I could easily have chosen to call the company and say it had been taken as we live on a main road and there would have been no signature, but I'm honest!

SoupDragon · 15/12/2018 08:08

If she collected them though there will be something to say she actually collected them?

Not necessarily. I recently picked up a click and collect order from John Lewis and I've since had several emails reminding me to pick it up. If I don't pick it up (which I have already) they'll return it to stock and refund me.

PurpleMountain · 15/12/2018 08:23

I’m having the same problem with Hermes even though I’ve picked it up from pick up point - I showed ID, signed for it and it even says on their site it’s been collected, but they’re still sending me emails to remind me it’s there 😳 I’m sure if I tried to claim it hadn’t arrived they’d all of a sudden refer to the evidence

Your SIL is dishonest OP and I can understand why you’re annoyed, especially the bragging

PitterPatterOfBigFeet · 15/12/2018 08:25

I don't like that either. Especially if it was a small company.

paintinmyhairAgain · 15/12/2018 08:25

makes you wonder what else she lies about /does, i don't think i'd be trusting her at all.

MrsGollach · 15/12/2018 08:26

"her babies" Do people actually talk like that. I'd think there was something wrong with someone who would say that.

AndItStillSaidFourOfTwo · 15/12/2018 08:34

It's fraud, more serious than theft IMO.

Hope she's caught.

SwearyInn · 15/12/2018 08:40

It will probably be the delivery driver that pays for this. Their working conditions are generally hideous and they suffer horrible penalties if they don’t deliver

Your SIL probably cost the delivery driver a profit for his day’s work. Screenshot Instagram confession and send to the company.

What a nasty thief your SIL is.
