Just curious as to if you got yours from DWP (PIP etc). When? And what amazing thing you bought with it? Grin
Mine came yesterday and I bought electric and gas top ups, chocolate and painkillers.

What is DWP and PIP??

monkeysox · 13/12/2018 11:24

Department of work and pensions
Personal independence payment

Puggles123 · 13/12/2018 11:29

Surely it’s better than nothing? Most people get zero bonus at Christmas!

Neverunderfed · 13/12/2018 11:35

Oh FFS, joy sucker

Chloe84 · 13/12/2018 11:36

Ooh I'll tell my mum to expect here Grin

AGHHHH · 13/12/2018 11:37

I was surprised to get a bonus on benefits, can't complain about extra free money can you. I'm grateful for anything on top of the usual as well as the original payment.

AGHHHH · 13/12/2018 11:37

Mine will go towards my massive overdraft that I'm in... Noel noel.

Oysterbabe · 13/12/2018 11:38

Wow you got a lot with your £10. I'd spend it on coffee and cake.

Mrspotter12 · 13/12/2018 11:42

A sandwich & cup of tea for lunch then 2 cones of chips for my DD and I for tea!

ItchySeveredFoot · 13/12/2018 11:43

I thought they were scrapping it? Maybe that's next year. I'll tell dm and do to look out for it. We might get a takeaway with it.

recklessruby · 13/12/2018 11:46

Not complaining. Much appreciated yesterday. £6 electric. £2 gas. Box of 45p ibuprofen . The rest on chocolate like a little present to myself.

I didn't know about this but it seems like a good idea. Christmas is an expensive time.

recklessruby · 13/12/2018 11:50

I work part time and get PIP. You get £10 bonus first week or so of Dec. I think they're trying to scrap it for UC claimants though.

It's only if you get disability benefits. I'm putting it towards the brand new coat that my autistic child has lost after two wears Angry

Mrspotter12 · 13/12/2018 11:51

My DD gets DLA and every year at Christmas we get £10 extra. My mum got it in her pension, not sure what she splashed out on.

AGHHHH · 13/12/2018 11:59

@babysharkah I imagine to help with extra heating costs, Christmas etc...

It is £10, hardly worth getting outraged over.

notacooldad · 13/12/2018 11:59

£10? WTF do you get a bonus when on benefits?
I would imagine it us to assist with all the extra costs associated with Christmas.
I know its not much but I hope it helps families.

Lovemusic33 · 13/12/2018 12:00

It will probably go towards what ever my daughter decides to break, draw on or cut up over Christmas due to the change in her routine 😐

BarbaraofSevillle · 13/12/2018 12:00

I always remember my Great Granny getting excited about the £10 pensioners' Christmas bonus. Probably because this was in the 1970s so worth quite a bit more than it is now.

The £10 bonus has been paid for about 40 or 50 years at that level. When it was first introduced, it was more than the weekly pension/other benefits, so worth a fortune in comparison.

Worth hardly anything now. If it had kept up with inflation, it would probably be £100-200 now.

caringcarer · 13/12/2018 12:05

I got mine for my carer's allowance. Pay for dc to go ice skating.

Gilead · 13/12/2018 12:07

Look at all those folk resenting people with disabilities getting an extra tenner! Hmm

JustMarriedAndLovingIt · 13/12/2018 12:10

I got mine
