Just curious as to if you got yours from DWP (PIP etc). When? And what amazing thing you bought with it? Grin
Mine came yesterday and I bought electric and gas top ups, chocolate and painkillers.

BeyondVicious · 13/12/2018 12:34

Oh I've got mine today! Fab!

I'm putting it towards a pack of fags so the whingers can at least be happy that odds are I'll be on disability benefits for a slightly shorter time... Wink

BeyondVicious · 13/12/2018 12:35

Apologies, on second thought that post is really insensitive to those here with terminal cancer :(

I take back my pithy comment, I can't begrudge disabled people a tenner. It should really be more so people can get a decent treat.

Actually, the money paid out should be a decent amount in the first place.

Buswankeress · 13/12/2018 12:38

@FortniteIsTheNewCrack

You really don't need to come and break my legs for me thanks. I struggle with a mental health problem day in day out and arthritis which is why I DON'T RESENT IT! And said as much at the start of my post.

I said it makes me feel shit that as someone also struggling I get basically ignored by the country, left to struggle and now had a go at for feeling that way.

I didn't know that anyone on PIP got this bonus before this thread, I'm glad they do because I know how I struggle and I wouldn't like to think that my worst enemy had to feel like I do sometimes.
So seriously, read what I'm saying and stop going off the deep end, news flash - just because you're not on PIP doesn't mean you don't struggle with life every fucking day. Who the fuck are you to tell me I can't feel bad about my own situation?!

Motoko · 13/12/2018 12:38

I haven't had mine yet. Last year I donated it to a charity that gives disadvantaged children a book for Christmas. I was going to do the same this year, but the link they supplied in their Tweet, was a dead link, and I couldn't find the correct page on their site. I'm hoping they get that sorted.

CaliHummers · 13/12/2018 12:38

£10? WTF do you get a bonus when on benefits?

Apparently it's still cheaper than just shoving everyone in the workhouse. Who'd have thunk it?

yolofish · 13/12/2018 12:39

cant believe anyone would begrudge this! £10 is not exactly a golden handshake is it, it's fuck all. £1000 might help make a difference... I wish those of you 'lucky' enough to get the £10 very much joy with it, whatever you want to spend it on is absolutely fine with me. I hope it goes a little way towards helping.

I thought it was quite funny actually! Grin But I have a dark sense of humour.

BubonicWoman · 13/12/2018 12:43

I'll trade my daughter's disability for the tenner if there are any takers

VietnameseCrispyFish · 13/12/2018 12:44

Wow, until this post I had absolutely no idea that people on PIP get a Christmas bonus! That’s so generous given that the DWP don’t have to do it. I wonder what their motivation is?

BlindAssassin1 · 13/12/2018 12:44

Maybe you should work harder then

Here Reallybadidea Biscuit put one of these in your hands so you can stop typing shite

recently · 13/12/2018 12:45
  1. I can't believe the scrooges who begrudge a tenner.
  2. I can't believe the bonus hasn't gone up in forty years!
BeyondVicious · 13/12/2018 12:46

So do I motoko (obviously), but it seemed inappropriate straight after your post. Glad it didn't offend :)

VietnameseCrispyFish · 13/12/2018 12:46

This time last year, 1,607,000 people had a PIP claim active. That’s £16m pounds spent on a £10 bonus for everyone. I’m genuinely surprised, given that they keep going on about needing to cut back and not having money trees.

Flynnshine · 13/12/2018 12:47

Came here to say the same as @FortniteIsTheNewCrack

For everyone complaining they have to work over Christmas - happy to swap you with my daughters brain tumour, blindness and a whole Christmas in hospital having chemotherapy!

Not everyone on 'benefits' is a scrounger!

Zoflorabore · 13/12/2018 12:47

Motoko flowers are free here Flowers

I hope you have an amazing Christmas xx
Enjoy your tenner

Last2Know · 13/12/2018 12:48

I work full time, earn a half decent wage I suppose. I wont be getting a bonus this year however I think it's great that people on benefits do.

I know how hard it is being on benefits and that extra tenner can make a big difference to people deciding whether to heat their home or eat.

If you are fortunate enough not to be in that position then I hope it is spent on something nice!

Stay safe everyone and have a great christmas xx

Philomensapie · 13/12/2018 12:48

Christmas bonus? Is it just from the DWP? Do those of us on tax credits get one from HMRC, or are we penalised for, you know, working? Xmas Hmm

Philomensapie · 13/12/2018 12:50

DS1 will probably spend his on Lego. He's 28. Xmas Hmm

lalalalyra · 13/12/2018 12:50

I take back my pithy comment, I can't begrudge disabled people a tenner. It should really be more so people can get a decent treat.

Originally it was more in real terms. When it was first brought in the £10 was basically an extra week of money to go toward the extra costs of heating etc in winter.

It has remained at £10 ever since, and basically it's only purpose now (imo) is to give lots of people something to get frothy about when they think about people on benefits getting a bonus that they don't get.

DD's pays for her taxi home so that she can go to the Christmas disco and leave on her own like all of the other kids her age.

fourcorneredcircle · 13/12/2018 12:51

Slow Clap for the OP who clearly just wanted to stir up a bit of grief.

Buswankeress · 13/12/2018 12:51

Well I take it I'm the whipping boy for this thread then despite saying I don't begrudge anyone anything - just feel shit about my own situation and that nothing similar is available for the likes of me.
I haven't called anyone a scrounger, I haven't said it's not deserved, I haven't said that I don't want anyone to have it. Rather the opposite.

But crack the fuck on kicking off at me if it makes you feel better 👍

lalalalyra · 13/12/2018 12:52

Christmas bonus? Is it just from the DWP? Do those of us on tax credits get one from HMRC, or are we penalised for, you know, working? fhmm

No, it's an xtra £10 for the people who are too unwell to work or those on PIP who also work, despite health problems...

Zoflorabore · 13/12/2018 12:52

Disability benefits are NOT means tested and many disabled people you know- work- and pay taxes too, who knew?! Shock

And sadly, MN is as predictable as ever.
