My husband and I picked out a name for our son and a few days after he was born DH said he didn't think the name fit. So now we are back to the drawing board!

We have two other children with classic children's names and a surname that has two syllables.

Names we narrowed down to are

Arthur (husband no longer likes this one!)

Jonathan

David

Andrew

Feedback and suggestions welcome.

Jonathan is the best of those ime

YouBoggleMyMind · 11/12/2018 23:47

I was going to be David if I was a boy and my brothers are called Andrew and Jonathan!

How about:

Robert
Thomas
Henry
James
Matthew

David

Probably good that DH no longer likes Arthur. I know five baby/toddler Arthurs so I think it's going to be ”that” name for 2017/18.

All v nicknameable, so I guess what you really have to decide whether you want your teen son to be ”Dave”, ”Jon”, or ”Andy”.

BunsOfAnarchy · 12/12/2018 00:12

Joseph
Daniel
Michael
Christopher
James

Atchiclees · 12/12/2018 00:39

David. There always need to be Daves in the world.

LadyBathory · 12/12/2018 00:45

I’d just do feedback, and suggestions welcome is a bit long. I’d look at the nicknames really I like Daniel,Jordan and Alexander following your style maybe even Peter.

LMDC · 12/12/2018 01:05

I love Andrew! Nn could be Drew if you're not keen on Andy. Classic but suits all ages and is not dull & boring. No newborns look like a Dave imo.

Stillamum3 · 12/12/2018 01:42

Jonathan is the nicest - it won't date and isn't too "common" iyswim

DramaAlpaca · 12/12/2018 01:44

I really like Andrew, David and Jonathan. All classic names, underused these days.

Shadow1234 · 12/12/2018 06:47

I only like Arthur on your list tbh. Not keen on others.

Lewis
Liam
Owen
Micheal
Aiden
Cameron
Callum
Bradley
George
Dylan
Nathan
Kieran
Lucas
Jacob
Joshua

Alexander. Timeless with loads of nickname options.

Bloomburger · 12/12/2018 07:43

I just see Jon, Dave and Andy! Names which are a bit old fashioned these days but not in a Nice classic kind of way.

What about Roger, Geoffrey or Alan?

helpmum2003 · 12/12/2018 07:45

Jonathan from your list.

Also agree Alexander is great.

Andrew or Jonathan (Perfect for all ages)

I don’t like Dave for children, and I know so many babies that have been named Arthur recently!

What about Stanley or Albert if you like the ‘old man’ type names? Or...

Christopher
Louis
Henry
Freddie
Daniel
James
Alexander
Toby
Benjamin
Samuel
Thomas

ShitOnItt · 12/12/2018 11:16

Or Joseph (Joey for a baby/toddler, then Joe when older)

Iknowthatguy · 12/12/2018 11:17

Andrew
James
Matthew

pacempercutiens · 12/12/2018 11:18

Jonathan is a brilliant name in my opinion. Also has a lot of options if your child wants to shorten it as well (Jon, Jonboy, JB, Nathan, Nate, maybe Joe)
