NorthWest that woolly willy made me laugh out loud. When I watched the footage of him, I did think... he looks different, what's up with his head but it took a while to dawn on me and I had to go on Twitter to have it confirmed that he was indeed spraying his head Grin

Apparently, the fuzzy has gone from his hair today. He's washed it off.

Roussette · 17/12/2018 16:53

a tweet...

Instead of mocking Stephen Miller's spray-on hair, we should be working to stop his vile policies.

Whoa. Just saw the hair. We can multitask.

Lweji · 17/12/2018 17:04

I'm drawn to the dead eyes, so I didn't notice the hair at first.
It's like he's had botox all around them. One cold evil motherfucker, he is.

At least you can see the insecure little boy behind Trump's expressions. The fuck it all, anarchy forever, slightly mocking attitude behind Bannon's. The I'm struggling here but I'll keep breathing behind KA's deepening wrinkles. Or the I'm lying, I know you know I'm lying, but I don't give a damn because it's my job and my party, behind Huckasands's dismissiveness.

But Miller is a different beast.

A bit of nostalgia.

Per lionheart's article, Facebook partnered with Snopes for some factchecking, but didn't seem too bothered when Snopes raised the alarm about, eg Myanmar fake news.

'They don't care': Facebook factchecking in disarray as journalists push to cut ties
www.theguardian.com/technology/2018/dec/13/they-dont-care-facebook-fact-checking-in-disarray-as-journalists-push-to-cut-ties

Binkowski, who previously reported on immigration and refugees, said Facebook largely ignored her: “I strongly believe that they are spreading fake news on behalf of hostile foreign powers and authoritarian governments as part of their business model.”

Kim LaCapria recently left Snopes as a content manager and factchecker partly due to her frustrations with the Facebook arrangement. She said it quickly seemed clear that Facebook wanted the “appearance of trying to prevent damage without actually doing anything”

They have learnt nothing. They care not one jot.

I wouldn't say Facebook have learnt nothing.

I think they've learnt they can still get away with it. But that they'll have to put a bit more effort into cover, now their shape is known.

OnTheDarkSideOfTheSpoon · 17/12/2018 20:08

I think to say they don’t care implies this is a problem for them when actually, it’s how they make their money.

lionheart · 17/12/2018 20:08

Yes, they will carry on unless they are regulated or it costs them ..

From Amy Siskind. I’d be interested in hearing other people’s thoughts on this. I think this is just as sexist as she’d claim the history of Democratic Party to be; any potential candidate should simply be the best person for the job, regardless of gender. I’m somewhat surprised at her stance here.

I will not support white male candidates in the Dem primary. Unless you slept thru midterms, women were our most successful candidate. Biggest Dem vote getters in history: Obama ‘08, Hillary ‘16. White male is not where our party is at, and is our LEAST safe option in 2020.

... And stop planning 2020 as if we will be running against Trump. If the off chance he makes it through all the investigations, he will challenged galore in primaries...

... We have some unpacking to do too folks on the internalized sexism and racism in our own party - and despite what the numbers tell us and nature of our base - why we presume white male is safe. Why say, a Beto is held up but a Stacey Abrams is not...

... It’s like people have forgotten how we had 8 miserable years of George W Bush.

How Donald Trump Got Caught in a Legal Vise
The breadth of investigations is so sweeping that they may hang over the president and his entourage long after Robert Mueller’s probe is finished.
www.bloomberg.com/opinion/articles/2018-12-17/donald-trump-s-legal-vise-how-the-probes-have-proliferated

If that’s the course the various investigations follow, then Trump may emerge as a brazen grifter who, by aspiring to the White House like a wizened, soiled version of Icarus, flew beyond the boundaries of his own luck and abilities and delivered his business, children and well-being into the hands of prosecutors.

Lweji · 17/12/2018 22:59

I will not support white male candidates in the Dem primary.

It can be argued that true equality would be for the next 45 presidents to be female.

It can also be argued that the 45 previous presidents (and pretty much every Democratic candidate) have been the most successful men. I won't say "best".

It would indeed be interesting to see what would happen if white males were forbidden from applying to the next 45 presidential elections.

I'm not sure about the Siskind either Claws. It could be a pragmatic approach (women get more votes) and/or an attempt to redress an historical imbalance (we should promote them anyway in the interests of equality).

Or can be construed as sexist (Bush = Man = misery).
