What if it already has and that's why I've got a face like a slapped arse??

Does anyone else think it's a stupid and inappropriate comment to make?! Fuck off!!! I know I look miserable, don't need you to point it out ta!

Exactly! How do they know you've not just had something awful happen or are going through something terrible. I just give the 😏 face.

tactum · 02/12/2018 19:40

Exactly. Sibling just been diagnosed with terminal cancer so really didn't need it!

OP posts:
GreatDuckCookery6211 · 02/12/2018 19:42

I'm sorry OP. Sad

ChodeofChodeHall · 02/12/2018 19:42

Yes, someone said this to me on my way home from the miscarriage clinic.

I'm sorry for your troubles, OP Flowers

Feefeetrixabelle · 02/12/2018 19:43

‘It already has you insensitive twatbadger’ no one has to look cheery and happy when they are not. I’m so sorry about your news op

AssassinatedBeauty · 02/12/2018 19:43

I'm sorry that someone was so thoughtless and crass as to say this to you. Anyone with half a brain can see that it's not anyone's place to comment on other people's apparent mood like this.

AnneLovesGilbert · 02/12/2018 19:44

Oh OP, I’m so sorry Flowers

Last time someone said it to my grandmother had just died. Which is what I told the twat. He had the good grace to look very ashamed.

I don’t know why they do it. You don’t owe anyone a smile or a perky expression. Whether you’re dealing with awful news or just wish you were at home with your bra off.

formerbabe · 02/12/2018 19:45

I hate men that do this. I like to tell them to go fuck themselves.

SauvingnonBlanketyBlanc · 02/12/2018 19:45

Lol I've got what I call "resting mardy face" I hate it when I get told this! You'd look pretty daft walking down the street with a huge grin on your face imo

gamerwidow · 02/12/2018 19:45

How dare you not be performing your womanly duty of being decorative. Why should men have to have their day upset because you can’t be bothered to project a constant display of happiness for them. Shame on you!

SauvingnonBlanketyBlanc · 02/12/2018 19:46

Not lol for the reason you weren't smiling op.i meant I can relate to being told that

Ohdofeckoffdear · 02/12/2018 19:47

It’s only ever said to women as well Hmm like women have to look happy all the damn time

Hidillyho · 02/12/2018 19:47

Someone said this to my auntie a few hours after her dad was found dead.

I have resting bitch face so I get it all the time!

gamerwidow · 02/12/2018 19:47

Ps my BIL is battling a brain tumour at the moment. Cancer is shit Flowers

joystir59 · 02/12/2018 19:47

It's an example of every day sexism. I've heard it all my adult life, I'm 61 and hear it less now as I've got very short grey hair and look like a bloke.

tactum · 02/12/2018 19:48

Ha ha Anne - home with me bra off now!!! Do you know me?!! Big glass of wine too. Thanks all

OP posts:
AssassinatedBeauty · 02/12/2018 19:49

"resting bitch face" is such a sexist thing. Men have non-cheerful faces all the time and no one thinks they've got resting bitch face, it's just their face.

megcustard · 02/12/2018 19:50

Yep men only ever say it to women never to each other. My job isn't to look happy for men, fuck off.

I'm sorry about your news Flowers

Alconleigh · 02/12/2018 19:51

Very much a certain type of bloke as well.....not terribly bright........utterly wanker thing to do. I used to get it all the time due to resting bitch face but don't so much now, probably as I'm over 40

AnneLovesGilbert · 02/12/2018 19:51

I don’t but you sound great Smile

I’ve undone mine but must take the bastard thing off.

Enjoy your wine. I’m off for a cuppa and a mince pie.

Next time just flip them the finger. Arseholes.

LilMy33 · 02/12/2018 19:52

YANBU at all. I hate this too. Always men that say it and they never say it to another man Hmm only women and girls.

Rosieposy4 · 02/12/2018 20:10

💐 for you OP.
Last time someone said this to me I replied “ I’ve just been to the funeral of a boy I used to teach” They couldn’t shut up fast enough. Always an inappropriate thing to say imo.

BadgerWithRice · 02/12/2018 20:13

Christ are men still doing this? It’s so patronising.
Very sorry about your sibling Op

Athena51 · 02/12/2018 20:27

Sorry for your sad news OP.

I get this quite a lot. Once I was reading and having a latte in a coffee shop when some random bloke came up to me and said (exact words) 'You have lovely hair (?) but you'd look even prettier if you smiled more'.

Yes random sexist tosser please tell me what to do with my own face....

starzig · 02/12/2018 20:28

I hate it too OP. Dont need the comments when i am obviously upset.

The other one i hate is You on a mission? Well if I look busy, I am possibly too busy to pander to your stupid remarks.
