To be longing for the next big thing after Gin

Sweet holy, I thought I was sick of Prosecco. But this current Gin craze ..... just going on tooo long.

I love a GnT - we sure can all agree that Fever Tree is a Good Thing - but please bring an end to this apparently bottomless naff drinking.

Please, sherry, Buck’s Fizz, anything, just get here quick.

It seems to be rum. I work in retail and I'm selling gallons of the stuff. Loads of new brands popping up.

LettuceP · 23/11/2018 18:32

YANBU I'm fed up of gin!

LettuceP · 23/11/2018 18:33

Oooh rum would be nice

Tattybear16 · 23/11/2018 18:33

Rum is supposed to be the next big thing as there are so many varieties. Love a mojito.

PersonaNonGarter · 23/11/2018 18:33

Rum, eh? Good. I will look out my eye patch and cutlass.

Grumpbum123 · 23/11/2018 18:34

I think it’s rum too

confusedandemployed · 23/11/2018 18:34

I don't mind the odd gin but it really isn't my favourite drink. I like a nice vodka. Neat, or as part of a bloody Mary.
I'd be up for a rum craze though!

FiveGoMadInDorset · 23/11/2018 18:35

Whiskey/whisky

CrispbuttyNo1 · 23/11/2018 18:36

Before Prosecco and gin there was cider as well and that seems to have died down now.

I doubt the gin thing will end any time soon. I can’t believe the vast amount of different ones on sale in the shops. Waitrose practically has a full aisle. Even the restaurant I work in which has a fairly small bar has more than 30 different ones.

Have to admit that the xmas pudding gin is rather nice.

PersonaNonGarter · 23/11/2018 18:36

I need to tell [everyone in my fucking office] that Gin is over.

Might add it to the weekly Business News to make sure all 2000 of the form’s employees get the memo.

OP, Just because a drink is popular, doesn’t mean (a) you have to drink it or (b) you can’t drink something else.

Just make your own mind up and drink what you like drinking, surely?

Po. Po-faced reply. Ffs autocorrect.

WhoGivesADamnForAFlakeyBandit · 23/11/2018 18:39

Ooohh rum, that would be nice. Bacardi and Malibu but hipster.

PersonaNonGarter · 23/11/2018 18:42

It’s true I can drink something else.

But I am an irritable cunt today, and the Gin Craze fawning Peak Fucking Toffee Apple and, yes, Cherry Bakewell Gin is getting on my tits.

It’s like 20:20 for the employed.

I've tried a few (purely market research mind) and I'm loving the darker spiced rums. Dead man's fingers or havana are my faves..

The hangovers are something else tho... 3 days the last one lasted Sad

fluffertothegentry · 23/11/2018 18:43

Rum, particularly Arack, maybe.

IHaveBrilloHair · 23/11/2018 18:45

Its rum.
My local hipster place is stocking a single malt whiskey from Australia though, so keep an eye on that.

HowlsMovingBungalow · 23/11/2018 18:47

Agree with the new booze being rum.

I like tequlia not that rancid shit you gulp back with salt, but a decent tasting tequlia can be supped like a malt whiskey.

Proper hardcore shit

StealthPolarBear · 23/11/2018 18:48

I think it'll be whiskey. I can't stand gin

Davidlives · 23/11/2018 18:48

I don’t like whisky or rum (except Malibu Blush ).
I love gin. Always have done so I’m thrilled with the array of gins on offer now.

StealthPolarBear · 23/11/2018 18:49

If its rum my 86 year old grandad will be startled to find himself the height of fashion again

StealthPolarBear · 23/11/2018 18:50

Actually I don't like whiskey rum or gin. Not sure why I'm here :) I do like a nice vodka but vodka had its day in the 90s

LemonMousse · 23/11/2018 18:50

Yes - time to move on from the gin (so I can be left in peace with it). I love a nice PLAIN (Gordon's/ Bombay/Hendricks) with tonic. Last Christmas everyone felt the need to 'treat' me with weird flavour combinations - broccoli & apple, satsuma & turnip etc Wink
NO! Just buy me proper bloody gin! (Ungrateful bitch that I am)
Hopefully the new Rum phase will see a return to me getting the 'normal' stuff as they concentrate on finding the weirdest rums for the rum drinkers!

Luglio · 23/11/2018 18:51

Single malt. No question.
