So I ordered a purse online from a well known brand.
I paid £12 so cheap and cheerful.
The parcel arrived today and it was well packaged in a nice box and wrapped etc.
I opened it and it was a different purse (loved it ) and I checked online and it is selling on the site for £100 Shock
Moral dilemma ...keep or return ?
Would you tell them ?

I would call them, and return at their cost most likely they will say to keep it. To someone saying most wouldn't send it back, well I have returned items Instore and online when sent/given without payment

Mybigmessyhair · 21/11/2018 20:31

Better owning up they may allow you to keep it since you were honest, happened to me a few years ago, was meant to get an iPhone 5c ended up with a 5s and was allowed to keep it due to me being honest about it.

You never know, it’s better to being honest it make you feel better and it may pay off

Nanna50 · 21/11/2018 20:31

I received a parcel with an extra item in and took it into the store, the assistant looked at me puzzled and said she didn’t know what to do with it could I not exchange it for something in store that I wanted? Confused
I swapped it for some shoes.

MrDonut · 21/11/2018 20:31

How is it not theft? The OP didn't pay for it.

It is illegal to keep goods sent to you by mistake.

ADastardlyThing · 21/11/2018 20:31

Enjoy op!

Onestep2 · 21/11/2018 20:32

God the MN moral crew are out in force (jokes.... before I get hated on)

I would 100% keep it and not think twice 😂

Nicknacky · 21/11/2018 20:32

MrDonut it’s not theft. She has committed no crime.

RavenLG · 21/11/2018 20:33

Can't believe some people would tell them ha ha yeah imagine having a moral compass! Hmm

Merry Christmas!

Littlechocola · 21/11/2018 20:34

I couldn’t keep it.

StrongTea · 21/11/2018 20:34

Think it is more common than you think. I got an item of jewellery in my order of chocolate today. Just sitting inside the packaging, on top of the boxes of crocs. Phoned the company up and they said just to keep it.

Nicknacky · 21/11/2018 20:36

MrDonut She has not dishonestly appropriated the purse which is one of the key elements of theft. She has committed no crime.

Asmallrole · 21/11/2018 20:39

I wouldnt call you a thief, but I personally wouldnt enjoy using it.
Be honest. You might get to keep it anyway.

stumpyteapot · 21/11/2018 20:39

It's theft.

Katedotness1963 · 21/11/2018 20:40

Every time this subject comes up I'm amazed at how many dishonest people are out there. It's quite depressing.

I'd return it.

Nanalisa60 · 21/11/2018 20:41

Happy Christmas to you!!

Nicknacky · 21/11/2018 20:41

stumpy Explain where she dishonestly appropriated it from?

That’s an essential element of the crime.

Mybigmessyhair · 21/11/2018 20:42

Before she returns it though she should call up the company as I stated they may allow her to keep it as it’s a hassle to send it back, she might get lucky.

Aeroflotgirl · 21/11/2018 20:44

Exactly Nicknacky it was given to her in their mistake, she did not go to the shop and steal it.

LifeImplosionImminent · 21/11/2018 20:44

Keeping it is definitely not the right thing to do, as you know it's not yours it is technically theft (someone was jailed for spending money a bank accidentally deposited in his account not that long ago) - but as others have said, if you contact the company and they ignore you or tell you to keep it then you are guilt (and repercussion) free.

If you're the lucky sort that never gets bitten on the arse though, enjoy!

Pinkyyy · 21/11/2018 20:44

I'd keep it too OP, perhaps there is a father Christmas after allWink

Kittykat93 · 21/11/2018 20:44

I'd keep it! Although most on here will probably say they'd return.

Nicknacky · 21/11/2018 20:45

life That’s not even a similar comparison.

stumpyteapot · 21/11/2018 20:46

Nicknacky

Read the link then please explain to me why she hasn't dishonesty appropriated it.
