Kievs and pasta?!?!?!?!

DP was tasked with picking up an easy tea for tonight so we can have an early night after a busy couple of weeks.

AIBU to be aghast that he got chicken kievs (yum.) AND PASTA?!?!?!

They don't go together, right?

Kievs and chips, yes. Kievs and pasta, abomination.

Eat this all the time.

There is nothing that does not go with pasta so I think it is a perfectly acceptable meal. Last night we had pulled pork and spaghetti. Bloody delish.

I wouldn't fancy that at all, nice with salad and coleslaw though. On the other hand I love chicken parmigiana and pasta.

Kievs and pasta is one of my favourite dirty meals. Particularly good if the pasta sauce is the Loyd Grossman tomato and chilli one. Yum.

I've known quite a few restaurants -including some supposedly quite nice ones- serve pollo milanese with pasta or offer it as an option. I also know ones that serve it with veg though. I am clearly an awful philistine for prefering it with pasta.

I personally don't like to see chips with schnitzel though. I'd rather have spatzle or proper German/Austrian potato salad.

We had kiev and mash for dinner last night. Never had it with pasta but I would see no harm so long as it has a nice tomatoey sauce.

Pasta in a tomatoey sauce with breaded chicken, yes. But with a Kiev? That does make me feel a bit green.

Lives with pasta is one of my faves!!! Lovely buttery pasta. I might cook that tonight now lol.

Or Kiev with rice is just as good. Lazy packet vegetable rice.

@lostbeyondwords a cheesy sauce is nice with a fish pie. Can't think of a cheese that I'd use with prawns though! But absolutely agree, most things are made better with cheese.

I'd have thought a cheesy sauce rather than a tomato one would go better with pasta and Kiev actually. That I would try.

This is one of my favourite meals. I use fusili pasta and mix in some butter, parmesan and salt and pepper and any garlic sauce that's leaked out the kiev and serve with the kiev and petit pois. It's delicious!

I had almost all my meals with pasta as a kid, I dislike many forms of potato, so as a kid, any time my DPs were having mash or new potatoes I would have pasta.

Buuuurghhhh to Kievs. My DM used to force them on us about once a week when I was a kid. Hated them and haven't had one since!

Seryph I hated potatoes (except crisps) as a child, although sadly for my waistline I quite like them now.
Kievs and pasta was a favourite meal when I was feeling flush as a student. I must cook it again soon!

My mum does this kind of thing. I think, in her head, pasta is just an interchangeable white carbohydrate like potatoes or rice. So sausages and plain pasta are served like sausages and mash.

Prawns with paprika, passata, shallots, lots of cream, fresh parsley and Parmesan is one of the nicest things I've ever eaten on pasta...

Mussels with garlic, cream and Parmesan a close second...

Basically just PARMESAN

I would - sounds like comfort food to me veggie kievs with the garlic butter inside, with cheesy pasta on the side and broccoli. Almost salivating at the thought
