Democrats win the House, and he’s already fired Sessions: Trump thread 87

We start this new thread on a brighter note: the mid-terms were a win for the Democrats, securing the House of Representatives and further seats in the Senate. This means more scrutiny for POTUS and the GOP, and bargaining power.

He’s still a feckless, vain bully, oddly admired by some varieties of Christians - enjoy the cartoon by Mike Luckovich.

It's the sort of thing you expect from repressive dictatorships.

It still makes my heart sink.

cozietoesie · 28/11/2018 15:34

Bad month, bad year and a bad presidency. A Beast piece.

Trump cries Witch Hunt

AcrossthePond55 · 28/11/2018 16:20

Oh holy fuck. How much lower can he sink. Never mind. The answer is always 'a lot lower'.

lionheart · 28/11/2018 16:27

The Beast piece is cheering in a way ...

Lweji · 28/11/2018 16:37

My worry is if, feeling threatened, he decides to go full fuck democracy mode.

cozietoesie · 28/11/2018 17:22

Mrs Moon heads back to the main Blue House. Smile

Minimammoth · 28/11/2018 17:26

The man is unhinged. There must be White House staff working overtime on damage limitation.

MissMarplesKnitting · 28/11/2018 17:28

It's absolutely brilliant to watch though. He's losing his shit in real time 😂

Lweji · 28/11/2018 17:33

Until someone CGIs Trump's face on the Hitler rants parodies, here are the two calling each other.

Gumpendorf · 28/11/2018 18:11

My sense has been that Mueller cut Manafort loose on learning that the similarity of his lies and Trump’s was no coincidence but a result of illicit cooperation between them and part of a scheme in which Manafort would later be pardoned. I note that @maddow had a similar thought

The Mueller protection bill has been blocked again. Jeff Flake asked for unanimous consent on the Senate floor to move the bill. Republican Mike Lee objected, citing concerns over separation of powers.

OnTheDarkSideOfTheSpoon · 28/11/2018 18:17

Flake had said he wouldn’t confirm tom Farr unless the mueller bill was passed so it will be intersting to see what happens

OnTheDarkSideOfTheSpoon · 28/11/2018 18:18

Oh, he’s already voted!

Zoe Tillman
@ZoeTillman
Sen. Flake has voted no on cloture for Thomas Farr, which will make for a 50-50 vote assuming all other Republicans vote yes and all Democrats/Independents vote no. VP Pence would need to break the tie

OnTheDarkSideOfTheSpoon · 28/11/2018 18:43

Ari Berman
@AriBerman
Breaking: Tim Scott, only black Republican in Senate, just voted to invoke cloture on Trump judicial nominee Tom Farr, who has decades-long history of suppressing black voters. Pence breaks 50-50 tie to move forward on nomination

cozietoesie · 28/11/2018 19:15

Pence proving his worth yet again. Mother will be pleased.

One short clip from one long day. Here’s the moment a British MP tried to digest expert testimony that Facebook lied to UK parliament
