Democrats win the House, and he’s already fired Sessions: Trump thread 87

We start this new thread on a brighter note: the mid-terms were a win for the Democrats, securing the House of Representatives and further seats in the Senate. This means more scrutiny for POTUS and the GOP, and bargaining power.

He’s still a feckless, vain bully, oddly admired by some varieties of Christians - enjoy the cartoon by Mike Luckovich.

Flowers to Claws for Breitbart forage.

Sometimes you have to wonder whether stupidity has a limit at all. This is mind-boggling on so many fronts:

www.buzzfeednews.com/article/briannasacks/video-shows-gender-reveal-party-igniting-wildfire

We finally know the gender of the baby at the center of what was arguably one of the worst reveal parties of all time.

'The US Forest Service released a video Monday showing the exact moment when Border Patrol agent Dennis Dickey and his wife found out the gender of their baby and simultaneously started a large wildfire that tore through Arizona's parched grasslands, forcing residents from their homes and costing the state millions of dollars.'

Christine Blasey Ford Is Donating Her GoFundMe Money To Sexual Assault Survivors

"Although coming forward was terrifying, and caused disruption to our lives, I am grateful to have had the opportunity to fulfill my civic duty."

OhYouBadBadKitten · 27/11/2018 08:23

Thank you TheClaws. I find that extremely upsetting on many levels.
It's so so dehumanizing, it's the kind of language used to justify concentration camps and torture.

That along with Fox Nation. One massive further step into fascism. We really do seemed to be doomed to forever repeat history until one day we actually annihilate ourselves in our stupidity.

merrymouse · 27/11/2018 08:53

I find that extremely upsetting on many levels.

Yes, it is very, very bad.

Any concept of law has been abandoned - she (and the children) deserve to be tear gassed because the children might not be hers anyway. It's not clear why the children no longer have any rights.

It is the abandonment of any recognition that these are humans.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 27/11/2018 09:03

Its also the language abusers use to justify their abuse - 'it wasn't really a hard hit and it hurt me more than it hurt you'.

I guess he's not claiming they aren't actually children. That's something we have form for.

ooof, I need to step away from the news today.

Gumpendorf · 27/11/2018 09:17

On the video with the words Claws posted he added 'I think the funding of the wall right now has never looked better, never looked better' which of course is his point. The refugees are pawns in his 'negotiation strategy' with Congress.

There really is no bottom to his wickedness.

Video here for source purposes but I don't recommend it.

Gumpendorf · 27/11/2018 09:19

Meanwhile Christine Blasey Ford continues to be an amazing person. I'm in awe.

Gumpendorf · 27/11/2018 09:36

Meanwhile, the WH has unveiled Melania's (bizarre) Christmas decorations.

There are red Christmas trees which is all Twitter needed to make its point.

Astonishing piece about fake news for fun, profit and "satire":

The godfather of fake news
Meet one of the world’s most prolific writers of disinformation
www.bbc.co.uk/news/resources/idt-sh/the_godfather_of_fake_news

About a writer of fake news who claims he just invents vile stories using hot-button topics to troll right-wing Trumpie types, and it's all satire.

This is a claim I've seen before: fake news as a gigantic pisstake which "shows Trumpies up".

I'm not convinced.

Satire always has the problem that part of your audience will realise you mean the exact opposite of what you say; and part of your audience will take you at face value.

So churning out headline after headline of lies about eg Clinton, Soros, refugees, muslims, feminists... The sheer weight of it has an impact.

I also note the targets of his satire aren't People Like Him, for him they're Other. So no risk for him when the lynch mob kicks off. A satirical lynch mob, of course.Hmm

‘Fox & Friends’ Fed Interview Script to Trump’s EPA Chief, Emails Show

www.thedailybeast.com/fox-and-friends-fed-interview-script-to-trumps-epa-chief-emails-show

AcrossthePond55 · 27/11/2018 13:51

Thanks cozie. The town has pretty much been wiped off the map. There are probably victims who will never be found.

There are little towns like Paradise all over the foothills and mountains in Calif. Most of them have pretty much one way in and one way out, the main highway that runs through town.

On other subjects, that quote from Scrotus is just beyond horrendous. 'Grabbers'. I'd like to grab him and toss him into the tear gas. But I expect he has never shed a tear in his life (except for himself) and even tear gas wouldn't make him shed one.

I think we've all met someone during our lifetimes who has lacked empathy. But he makes the narcs I've met in my life look like Lady/Lord Bountiful!

TheNorthWestPawsage · 27/11/2018 13:52

Trump’s upset and worried about Mueller this morning. Why? One reason could be that Trump said things in his written answers a week ago that were in sync with what Manafort was saying, but that Trump now realizes Mueller can disprove?

OhYouBadBadKitten · 27/11/2018 14:05

Thinking about how today's quote and recent footage has made me feel and observing how others find much of this horror show really very upsetting at times as well , I feel that I should remind us all, (me included), that it's important to step away sometimes to regain our balance.

What is happening in the States and also closer to home can resonate to the point of being triggering. If we are triggered too much we can lose our resilience and burnout. Paying attention mustn't come at the cost of destroying ourselves.

So take breaks, perhaps try mindfulness, find happy things to balance ourselves because we need to be strong and to persist.

And massive hugs Across.

Manafort held secret talks with Assange in Ecuadorian embassy

'I think the funding of the wall right now has never looked better, never looked better' which of course is his point. The refugees are pawns in his 'negotiation strategy' with Congress.

Except that he could have got funding for the wall before in exchange for protecting DACA, but he pulled back because of right wing opposition.

He doesn’t care about the wall. He just wants a chant for his rallies. As soon as somebody on Fox criticises him he backs down. He has no room to negotiate.

lionheart · 27/11/2018 16:37

A big yes and amen to that OYBBK.
