We start this new thread on a brighter note: the mid-terms were a win for the Democrats, securing the House of Representatives and further seats in the Senate. This means more scrutiny for POTUS and the GOP, and bargaining power.

He’s still a feckless, vain bully, oddly admired by some varieties of Christians - enjoy the cartoon by Mike Luckovich.

Once this travesty is over there will be another day to add to the calendar of national holdiays, I reckon.

I was cheered to see the interview with the policeman poisoned in Salisbury, Det Sgt Nick Bailey.

Very difficult for him and his family, that they've had to lose all their belongings for decontamination. But he's sounding better than I feared.

It takes a number of days for a fertilized egg, which this bill would declare a "person," to attach to the uterine lining and start the process of pregnancy. About half of all fertilized eggs fail to attach,,^ and the woman then experiences a normal period with no way to know the difference. This bill would render every menstrual period, at least for women who have sex with men, into a legally ambiguous area, where she may or may not have a "corpse" of a "person" in her tampon.
