Democrats win the House, and he’s already fired Sessions: Trump thread 87

We start this new thread on a brighter note: the mid-terms were a win for the Democrats, securing the House of Representatives and further seats in the Senate. This means more scrutiny for POTUS and the GOP, and bargaining power.

He’s still a feckless, vain bully, oddly admired by some varieties of Christians - enjoy the cartoon by Mike Luckovich.

Happy Thanksgiving to you too Across and to all those who also celebrate.

Once this travesty is over there will be another day to add to the calendar of national holdiays, I reckon.

'The day we finally dumped Trump' or something a bit catchier.

Minimammoth · 22/11/2018 19:09

Happy Thanksgiving folks. Enjoy your celebration.🦃

I was cheered to see the interview with the policeman poisoned in Salisbury, Det Sgt Nick Bailey.

Very difficult for him and his family, that they've had to lose all their belongings for decontamination. But he's sounding better than I feared.

How not to conduct yourself on a phone call to your top generals stationed in their war zones. Hint: don’t talk about issues that don’t affect them, and try not to praise yourself.

I don't know why this has taken me by surprise.

Of course Facebook pays for dirty tricks on its competitors and regulators; just like clients pay Facebook to play dirty tricks on theirs. Why wouldn't it?

I'm feeling a bit dim to not have thought about this before.

'The Trump Foundation functioned as little more than a checkbook to serve Mr. Trump’s business and political interests. There are rules that govern private foundations, and we intend to enforce them—no matter who runs the foundation.'

That Salon article is gobsmaking, lion🤯

To understand the full scope of how awful this bill is, note that it defines as "persons" entities that are undetectable by either the woman herself or by any medical instruments. It takes a number of days for a fertilized egg, which this bill would declare a "person," to attach to the uterine lining and start the process of pregnancy. About half of all fertilized eggs fail to attach,,^ and the woman then experiences a normal period with no way to know the difference. This bill would render every menstrual period, at least for women who have sex with men, into a legally ambiguous area, where she may or may not have a "corpse" of a "person" in her tampon.
