Democrats win the House, and he’s already fired Sessions: Trump thread 87

We start this new thread on a brighter note: the mid-terms were a win for the Democrats, securing the House of Representatives and further seats in the Senate. This means more scrutiny for POTUS and the GOP, and bargaining power.

He’s still a feckless, vain bully, oddly admired by some varieties of Christians - enjoy the cartoon by Mike Luckovich.

Pence becomes a parrot in Papua at APEC.

I quote: ‘"China has taken advantage of the United States for many, many years and those days are over," Pence told the gathering in Port Moresby.’

Considering China’s Xi was also at the meeting, this - plus other incendiary recycled remarks - did not go down at all well.

Lost in his diarrhea of mendacity on Fox News Sunday was his remark about cutting military $$ to Pakistan, because they don't do anything for us. I'd say keeping Pakistan's nukes out of the hands of the Taliban is a pretty big fucking deal. Trump doesn't know or doesn't care.

From the Wallace interview: misunderstanding ‘impartiality’. Wallace played a comment of Whitaker’s stating he could “starve” the Russia investigation.

He's right. What do you do when a person's right? There is no collusion. He happened to be right. I mean, he said it. So if he said there is collusion, I'm supposed to be taking somebody that says there is? Because then I wouldn't take him for two reasons, but the number one reason is the fact that he would have been wrong.

Donald on why he lost Congress (although he doesn’t believe he lost Congress, and turns the conversation immediately back to the Senate, where he won BIGLY):

I didn't run. I wasn't running. My name wasn't on the ballot. There are many people that think, "I don't like Congress," that like me a lot. I get it all the time; "Sir, we'll never vote unless you're on the ballot." I get it all the time. People are saying, "Sir, I will never vote unless you're on the ballot.

About Bill McRaven, Retired Admiral, Navy Seal, 37 years, former head of U.S. Special Operations - he who headed the group who caught Osama Bin Laden. Should have achieved this sooner, according to Trump.

Hillary Clinton fan ... OK, he's a Hilary Clinton, uh, backer and an Obama-backer and frankly --.

Wouldn't it have been nice if we got Osama Bin Laden a lot sooner than that, wouldn't it have been nice? You know, living think of this living in Pakistan, beautifully in Pakistan in what I guess they considered a nice mansion, I don't know, I've seen nicer. But living in Pakistan right next to the military academy, everybody in Pakistan knew he was there.

About the discovery of new North Korea’s missile sites - he states he doesn’t believe it, even though just the other day he said the US has known about them for some time:

Maybe they are, maybe they're not, I don't believe that, I don't. And you know could which is -- if that's the way it goes, that's the way it goes. You know, I go with the way we have to go but so far it's been good, we have a very good relationship. We've made I think some great decisions for the people of this country and I do, you know I put America first and other countries should put themselves first.

BBC impartiality?

If you rely on the BBC for your news, you’ll know little of Banks’ covert relationship with the Russian government; of the gold-and-diamond deals they tried to broker for him.

It was this story, about Banks’ many meetings with the Russian ambassador, about his central role in the Trump-Russia story, which the Observer broke back in June, that precipitated Banks’ furious response. A distraction story. That has worked. And worked again.

And now it has been sanctioned by Andrew Neil.

Finland: the forest prodigy that as soon as the temperatures rose this year had raging fires. Hmm

TheNorthWestPawsage · 19/11/2018 08:02

3 years ago today, the Russian government decided to fund (to the tune of 10.6 billion rubles) the development company that managed to strike a preliminary deal with Trump to build Trump Tower Moscow. This fact still hasn't been reported by major news organizations.

Trump was surging in the polls. Andrey Rozov reached out to Trump via Sater and struck a preliminary deal to build TTM. 21 days later, the Russian government (via Sberbank) opens up a massive line of credit for Rozov's company.

Six months prior, the Russian government applied amnesty to a homicide conviction that Rozov was facing. Make no mistake, the Russian government knew about Rozov and knew of his deal with Trump.

Woah. That Carole Cadwalladr story ( Lweji's link) about the BBC and Andrew's Neil is well worth reading.

Online abuse is a tawdry attempt to limit what we say
www.theguardian.com/commentisfree/2018/nov/18/the-chilling-undertones-of-andrew-neil-mad-cat-woman-tweet

[Andrew Neil] said: “Nothing compared to having to deal with mad cat woman from Simpson’s, Karol Kodswallop.”
[...]
One day after Neil’s outburst, the director general of the BBC stood on stage at an event for public-service broadcasters in Scotland – the same event to which the BBC had invited Steve Bannon – and said how “disgraceful” it was that journalists should be targeted with abuse online. “It is an attempt to intimidate people and stop them doing their job,” he argued correctly. And he appealed to other news organisations: “We need to stand together on this.”
The BBC stood together with me against Neil’s abuse by ignoring it.
[...]
this is a world where venerable media organisations, even ones as rigorous and robust as the BBC, are getting played. Bannon understands this world. Stephen Yaxley-Lennon, aka Tommy Robinson, understands this world. Arron Banks understands this world. And this is why Neil’s actions and the BBC’s response are so chilling. Because for well over a year Banks, the Bristol businessman who donated upwards of £8m to Nigel Farage’s Leave.EU campaign, has been seeking to undermine my credibility as a reporter. He’s been seeking to intimidate me and the Observer and stop us from publishing. The “crazy cat lady” image didn’t come from Neil. It came from Banks. It’s been a key piece of his arsenal in his campaign of targeted harassment against me.

Thomas Farr Devised Ways to Keep Blacks From Voting. Mitch McConnell Wants to Make Him a Judge.

“Even among dangerous Trump nominees Farr stands out for his decades-long crusade to disenfranchise African Americans,” the NAACP said in a statement Thursday. “He learned how to intimidate Black voters from segregationist Sen. Jesse Helms and helped turn North Carolina into ground zero for voter suppression. His nomination is a travesty. His confirmation would be heresy.”

As much as I admire Michelle, I'm afraid my mantra when dealing with Scrotus is "When they go low, we bang them in the head with a cast iron skillet" (metaphorically speaking, of course)
