Poorly husband driving me mad. It's a cold, just a cold. He's doing this fucking cough that seems to start whenever anyone else speaks and involves sticking his tongue out. WTF??

sorry, I know its mean, I need to blow of steam Grin

He's now lying in front of the fire wearing a scarf and refusing to move so if you want to get to the sofa you have to clamber over the back.

The tongue 👅😡😡

Leave him to it and go and drink wine.

LEMtheoriginal · 11/11/2018 20:17

Are you mt DP? I know its just a cold but its knocked me for six. Bed all day yesterday and struggled today. I self diagnosed Ebola and warned him i might actually die Blush

RollerJed · 11/11/2018 20:18

I did this once to dh. He rang me at 10 am and asked me to pick him up from the station. We lived a 10 minute walk away Hmm

I was working from home but huffed and puffed and went and got him. The next day he practically crawled to the docs and he had proper flu and was bed bound for 5 days. it was really bad!

So now I try to give a bit of sympathy.

Cocolepew · 11/11/2018 20:18
Grin
Lunde · 11/11/2018 20:21

... but does he have the dressing gown of doom to shuffle round in?

Shiklah · 11/11/2018 20:22

I try. But I am failing.

OP posts:
Shiklah · 11/11/2018 20:23

YES - WTF??! is that a thing. He ties it up over and over again and shuffles round in it. Makes me rage.

Sorry, I know how horrid I sound, I am being kind here. Begrudgingly.

OP posts:
Shiklah · 11/11/2018 20:23

Sorry last post was about the dressing gown of doom

Shiklah · 11/11/2018 20:25

I set up the facial steamer with obas oil for him, he tried it but said he couldn't manage and lay on the floor. FGS.

I am going to get no sleep at all am I.

Why won't be just take medicine either? What's that about.

OP posts:
Shiklah · 11/11/2018 20:25

God I am a bad person and a horrible wife. Sorry. I can't help it.

Jayfee · 11/11/2018 20:27

My husband has been ill for a week and now I have it and it is a VERY bad cold..I feel crap.

Peaspleaselouise · 11/11/2018 20:27

Does he have a furball?!

Solderingiron · 11/11/2018 20:28

Ugh I have one of these at home at the moment. He has an annoying cough which is followed by an 'oooowhhh' after every cough! Strangly the cough didn't effect his yesterday when the rugby was on Hmm

UtterlyUnimaginativeUsername · 11/11/2018 20:29

I once accused DH of having man flu but it was actually sepsis and he nearly died.

ShutUpBaz · 11/11/2018 20:31

If you need an alibi when 'the sick voice' starts, we are all here for you......

Shiklah · 11/11/2018 20:31

Furball {grin] brilliant.

It is a bad cold and I am a bad person. I have arthritis and have had pneumonia 3 times in 4 years so I am a bit hardened. It isn't sepsis and he is being a massive wet lettuce about it (even he agrees)

OP posts:
Shiklah · 11/11/2018 20:31

I can't even Grin properly I am so pissed off! Ha!

OP posts:
gamerchick · 11/11/2018 20:32

Ah the tongue, the dressing gown of doom and the shuffley slippers. The hangdog expression and whimpers.

I give unlimited sympathy when they take the medicine. If they don't then they can get on with it as they can't be that bad.

BarkerBump · 11/11/2018 20:33

If mine is ill he gets all whiney and asks what he can take for [insert “life threatening” symptoms here].

He’d never dream of turning down medication if he really felt ill.

Shiklah · 11/11/2018 20:34

OMG!!! The weird herrrrhhhhhhhhhhhhh noise he keeps making. I just said "Do you even know you are making that noise". No, he doesn't even know. I swear he is enjoying making that noise.

He is on day 3 of the sick voice. The scarf is now over his eyes. His fucking mouth breathing.

Thanks for being there for me. You are amazing women.

OP posts:
Isleepinahedgefund · 11/11/2018 20:36

The scarf is a nice touch.

Someone at work has a bit of a cold and was really indignant the other week because they had to come back to work when they Weren’t 100% in order to avoid absence management procedures, and was really annoyed that they wouldn’t be paid indefinitely and be allowed to come back when they felt well enough.

I said Mate, if they leave it up to you, you’ll probably be off for five months recovering from your Manflu. That’s why they have absence management procedures.

Shiklah · 11/11/2018 20:36

Sick man checklist

DGOD (dressing gown of doom)
Shuffling
Stupid cough
Annoying noises
massive and in the way

OP posts:
ShutUpBaz · 11/11/2018 20:37

Fingers crossed he falls asleep in front of the fire and stays there so you can starfish the bed and not have to put up with the coughing/sighing/snorting/blorting death rattle from the pillow you put over his face.
Zero sympathy for anyone that refuses meds they can have to make them feel better.

FlamingJuno · 11/11/2018 20:38

A year ago DH took to his bed with man flu. He kept me awake with the snuffling and tossing and turning and vomiting and feverish muttering so I moved into the spare room. Just as well I did as he turned out to have Hep A and almost died. I'm a bit more sympathetic now Wink.
