Daily Fail story here
21 babies! That's some achievement. I cannot believe her body is still in one piece. I feel sorry for those kids though. There's absolutely no way they can all have the individual attention they need growing up. Four kids maybe, perhaps 6 at an absolute push but 21 seems like collecting trophies for a hobby to me. It'd be interesting to see what families those children decide to have when the time comes. It seems like she's putting her own want for babies ahead of her existing children's wellbeing & that isn't healthy. I'm curious that she's practically guaranteed herself an endless supply of babies as her children have children. But they're supposedly paying for everything themselves so we're not allowed to say anything against them. I don't agree with it. Tell me I'm being U.

Yanbu. was one of 6 and although I LOVE being pregnant and having babies, we've stopped at 4 (and meant to stop at 3 but the fates had other plans), because despite lovely parents who always did their best, we missed individual attention growing up and didn't want to recreate the same thing.

Even with a lot of of family support and flexible working, 4 is a challenge. Once you go beyond that, you're letting the older ones raise the younger ones, or letting them all go a bit feral, it's not right.

Whisky2014 · 10/11/2018 07:34

"Achievement" is not a word I'd use for this.
Mental health problems, lack of support to kids, drain on society. It's all very well saying they aren't on benefits but they will have all the usual ones AND tax payers money's for 21 kids worth of schooling, NHS use etc etc and forgive me for saying but i highly doubt any of the kids will be working in the higher tax band when/if they work. It's a horrible situation all round. And i doubt this will be the last child. They already said they'd stop and couldn't. It's all very wrong imo.

gladstonefive · 10/11/2018 07:35

It’s weird. They are grandparents having children for starters. Then the whole fact he was 17 and she was 14. Then the fact they have 21 kids.

And then the fact they still pretend they live off the money from their bakery. That’s just comical.

Roussette · 10/11/2018 07:36

My great grand parent was one of 14. Yes it wasn't unusual. But the reasons back then weren' t selfish like these two. Back then, there was no birth control. My GGPs needed males to work the land. A lot died young, stillbirths etc.

i don't believe they adequately parent. It's humanly impossible to do this.

PerryPerryThePlatypus · 10/11/2018 07:36

unlimited there was little choice but to have lots of children in the past, not all made it out of childhood and maternal death and poor health was common.

Whisky2014 · 10/11/2018 07:36

Oh and the environmental damage a family like this will do. Can you imagine if everyone did this?

EmmaJR1 · 10/11/2018 07:37

Also - "endured" is a bit strong of a description for 12 mins!

unlimiteddilutingjuice · 10/11/2018 07:37

I really don't mind the benefits aspect tbh....
I'm happy that my money goes to support children. I don't really mind how those children are distributed among households.
Its still a sound investment in the future as far as I'm concerned.

Roussette · 10/11/2018 07:40

Exactly Perry.

It was normal to have a big family back then for the reasons you say. Now it is unusual. Drains on resources etc. And adequate birth control meaning you don't have to. They're doing this for their own personal selfish reasons. A yearning and needing for her to be pregnant, and his need is to prove himself in some way I imagine. God knows.

Mummyoflittledragon · 10/11/2018 07:41

Can’t stand them. Poor kids.

gladstonefive · 10/11/2018 07:41

If they are living off £1131 (his 50k assuming after tax plus child benefit) how are they going to Florida? It’s £800 each just for a flight!

gladstonefive · 10/11/2018 07:42

I have five kids (20, 14, 12, 6 and 3) and struggle to take a shit most days. How the fuck does she do it.

unlimiteddilutingjuice · 10/11/2018 07:42

"Back then, there was no birth control."

There's always been the withdrawal method. Not 100% effective. But not ineffective the the extent that you could expect 10 kids over the course of a marriage.
I suspect that a cultural expectation of large families was also at play.
And (getting really dark for a second) men just not giving a shit and forcing themselves on their wives.

Roussette · 10/11/2018 07:42

Television pays for Florida. I would imagine they've had cars, nappies, holidays and more paid for.

I am just surprised Doctors haven't issued more warnings to them. I suppose the only way they'll stop is when there is some sort of tragedy.

Singlenotsingle · 10/11/2018 07:42

At least the kids won't be spoilt!

gladstonefive · 10/11/2018 07:44

Exactly rousette. So there’s the blatant bullshit of them living off “£50k and £170 a week child benefit right there”. Just because it isn’t cash in there hand doesn’t mean it isn’t funding for their lifestyle!

Roussette · 10/11/2018 07:44

Yes, totally agree unlimited. It was different times. It was a man's right back then so women 'fell pregnant' regularly. They had little choice in the matter.

canyouhearthedrums · 10/11/2018 07:44

The weird thing is that about 4 babies ago they said they would never do any publicity again as they were getting so much hate and it really upset them, but they keep running back to the rag that is Daily Fail to announce it. The comments are nearly all referring to She's reproductive organs, it can't be nice for the children to read that. Sophie has been really upset in the past about things s aid. They must either need the money or the attention.

Miscible · 10/11/2018 07:45

I would have no problem with them claiming the benefits to which they are entitled plus taking NHS care and state funded education - if they didn't keep depicting themselves as these self-sufficient heroes who are so much better than other benefit-claiming scum.

TheVanguardSix · 10/11/2018 07:45

It's pathological and unhealthy and a huge burden on the older kids.
I mean, their kids appear to be really nice, lovely people. They all do. But 21 kids. Come on. That's just absurd. She won't make old bones, bless her.

ThanosSavedMe · 10/11/2018 07:45

Wow. Lots of judging on here. It’s not for me, sounds like my idea of hell but so much hate on here

Roussette · 10/11/2018 07:45

Channel4 or whoever films this farce needs to look to themselves for encouraging this awful spectacle.

TellerTuesday4EVA · 10/11/2018 07:46

@canyouhearthedrums Bonnie is the name they've chosen

Roussette · 10/11/2018 07:46

Call it hate if you like. I don't hate them but do I judge them? Yep, you bet I do. Those children are not getting the nurturing they deserve because of a selfish couple and their selfish need to keep having babies.

canyouhearthedrums · 10/11/2018 07:49

Rousette the have already had a tragedy. Their son died in the womb at 21 weeks and they said they would never have another. She's had 4 more.
