Daily Fail story here
21 babies! That's some achievement. I cannot believe her body is still in one piece. I feel sorry for those kids though. There's absolutely no way they can all have the individual attention they need growing up. Four kids maybe, perhaps 6 at an absolute push but 21 seems like collecting trophies for a hobby to me. It'd be interesting to see what families those children decide to have when the time comes. It seems like she's putting her own want for babies ahead of her existing children's wellbeing & that isn't healthy. I'm curious that she's practically guaranteed herself an endless supply of babies as her children have children. But they're supposedly paying for everything themselves so we're not allowed to say anything against them. I don't agree with it. Tell me I'm being U.

Look forward to the magazine articles in a couple to decades by the adult children about their ‘large family hell’. No need, totally irresponsible for any modern couple to have more that 5/6 children.

I think the difference is that people got married young in the 50s and 60s. It wasn’t unusual for teenagers to marry. Can’t put my finger on it but there is something off with the whole thing. He is older, she was underage when she gave birth, but I don’t think it is that. For me it’s more the girls doing alll the cleaning, the locking the children in their rooms and removing the door handles, the small amount of food given at mealtimes, the dormitory like bedrooms.

6onTheHappyFarm · 18/11/2018 08:37

Where did the door handle being removed thing come from? Is it online somewhere? Can someone post a link?

Not doubting it, just want to check it out.

Fallingout · 18/11/2018 09:06

@coppercolouredtop I’m only a few years younger than you. Yes I also knew girls having underage sex (a 12 yr old and an 18 to old come to mind immediately) that is not ok, and should not be condoned as ok and getting kids.
I’m all for kids being able to be open but what you are saying is glossing over abuse. 13 is a child. If we were discussing 2 15 yr olds it’s a different scenario. And it’s not like this country manages its teenagers particularly well.

Fallingout · 18/11/2018 09:09

Ahh a bit deleted - getting kids talking about sex openly is not the same as ignoring the obvious abuse of a child. 13 is yr 8. It’s well under the age of consent. To have an informed discussion you have to understand people will disagree with your viewpoint. The argument that girls have been having underage sex for years is pretty poor.

Fallingout · 18/11/2018 09:14

@user1457017537 I agree and case for case there are young women under 16 who may well be perfectly ready for a sexual relationship but there is a law for a reason. There is also something very vulnerable about how Sue presents, her vlogs and writing and baby obsession are at times very childlike and I can’t beleive that at 13 she was exceptionally mature and ready for a sexual relationship (an opinion based on what I’ve seem and read) so I think it’s valid to raise concerns over the start of this journey to 21 kids. I equally am unhappy with older siblings raising younger siblings, and if the door handle is true then there’s clearly something very wrong with their parenting and ability to cope with so many small people.

ASauvignonADay · 18/11/2018 09:14

Meh - I think people are being overly judgy. There are families with 2 kids that give them no attention. Or are spoilt or spend all their time in childcare. They've got what looks like a big loving family. Maybe it isn't as it seems on tv but they look happy. They provide for them. I wouldn't want 21 children but each to their own and if it works for them...

mydogisthebest · 18/11/2018 09:54

ASauvignon, "each to their own and if it works for them"!! Have you read the thread?

How is it "working for them" when the children are locked in their rooms at night so they don't disturb the parents? Why in a 10 bedroom house are they sleeping in dormitory style rooms with 3 tier bunk beds? Why do the older girls (not the boys) have to look after the young ones?

How do you honestly think each child gets enough attention from the parents? There is just not enough hours in the day plus dad works and mum, presumably, is also busy, cooking, cleaning, washing, ironing, doing school runs, dog walking etc? Maybe as well as a magic pie shop they live in a house with 40 hours in a day?

Also it's all very well saying "each to their own" but, as I and others have said, what if we all decided to be that selfish? The UK would be on its knees with the costs of all the births, schooling, other medical fees, dental fees etc.

mumto2babyboys · 20/11/2018 17:57

I think they obviously need the underused sleeping space for the younger children to play in

or presumably for homework for older kids

beefchowmein · 21/11/2018 10:44

Tbf on the house tour video on their YouTube (yep ashamed to say I’ve watched it) all the rooms look lovely and all the young-adult children have their own spacious bedroom. The basement seems to have been converted into bedrooms as well now. All the pre-school kids/babies are on the top floor with the parents as well which means the other kids are less likely to be disturbed at night.

Fallingout · 21/11/2018 12:34

@mumto2babyboys you honestly think they use unused bedrooms in the basement as children’s play areas?
Nothing ‘obvious’ or ‘presumably’, your just making stuff up now.

Fallingout · 21/11/2018 12:37

@beefchowmein did you watch the same house tour as me? A bedroom with 6 girls in, with no space at all for each one apart from a bed and lovely is pushing it. The young adults I saw, 1 was sharing a small room with triple bunks and 1 had her own room. There’s plenty of others. 2 toddlers appeared to have a small dark room with no window. Ok it’s servicable but hardly lovely.

beefchowmein · 21/11/2018 12:49

It’s the one on their YouTube channel.. there was one bedroom with 4 girls (pre-teens I think) sharing together but it was a big room and really nicely decorated. Then there were at least 3 bedrooms with just 1 child in and all were very spacious. The eldest daughter had a large double to herself plus her own ‘make-up’ room but Sue said they were probably moving one of the other older kids into that room. So they do seem to get their own bedroom at a certain age which a lot of much smaller families can’t say. I’m not a fan of the Radfords for many of the reasons stated on this thread but I do think the house and rooms are perfectly ok.

woolduvet · 21/11/2018 12:57

The bedroom situation has improved since their last programme.
But I can't understand where all the clothes are??

DonaldDucksTowel · 21/11/2018 13:54

I’ve just watched the house tour
It looks a bit grim IMO
And those 2 babies sharing what is essentially a cupboard - not even a window Shock awful!

user1457017537 · 21/11/2018 19:49

I think the Radfords have good representation and are media savvy now. I definetely saw the boys in one room with multiple bunk beds in the last series, it was pretty grim. I would imagine someone has been persuaded to renovate the rooms. I understand Zanussi have gifted a washing machine and appliances.

evaperonspoodle · 07/02/2019 13:30

Just saw on Youtube that the Radfords are back in Florida. I reckon it must be a paid partnership with Disney or they are doing an American documentary. They were in Spain only months ago and in Florida a year or two ago so there is no way that they have paid for that themselves. Still, I'm happy for their kids that they got to go. There seems to be a lot of product placements, every cereal box is being shown, named and discussed.

Blue9green · 13/04/2020 09:10

22 now.
I remember reading they had sworn off more and thinking no way, there'll be another (and another).
