AIBU?
To be freaked out by friends weird behaviour?
WeirdHandDryers · 01/11/2018 12:02
Have name changed as circumstances quite specific!
Basically I went out for a drink with a group of friends. I said I needed toilet and one of the friends said they did too so came with me. I had a wee, washed my hands and went to dry them. She did all this at approx same time. I finished drying my hands and looked at her, she just smiled and carried on drying her hands. I thought fair enough and told her I’d see her back in bar.
10 minutes later we notice she still hasn’t come back and we’re talking about moving on. I go to see if she’s still in and she’s still stood in same position drying her hands!! I tell her we’re thinking of moving on soon so she says “ok” and still stands there with her hands under dryer.
I go back to group and tell them friend A is still drying hands. We have a bit of a laugh over it and then talk about something else. 10 minutes later we’re all done with drinks and ready to move on. Friend B says she needs toilet so will tell friend A to get a move on at same time. Bare in mind she’s been in there over 20 minutes now drying her hands.
10 minutes later neither friend have returned. Getting a bit impatient now I go in to tell them we’re moving on to see them BOTH stood there drying their hands!!! Not talking or anything, just stood in silence with their hands under the dryer! We left without them in the end. Have spoken since and they’re both pissed off that we left without them.
Other friends thought it was beyond weird at the time but I can’t get over it! It was so bloody weird.
Am I over reacting??

Huh?! Does sound odd.
I was going to say maybe friend A has OCD... but when you said friend B went & did the same that's just spooky!!
SheCameFromGreeceSheHadaThirst · 01/11/2018 12:08
'Why are you still drying your hands after 20 minutes? They can't still be wet'
That would have got you a better answer than randoms on the internet can proffer.
tiggerkid · 01/11/2018 12:09
Definitely weird. God knows what's up with the two of them but it just feels like they decided to play some silly game together to wind people up. Maybe it's their way of getting into the Halloween spirit? I mean acting creepy and weird?
WeirdHandDryers · 01/11/2018 12:10
Yes when I went in the last time I said “what are you both doing? Friend A you’ve been in here for 40 minutes drying your hands! She looked at me and smiled!!
I thought maybe they were having a private conversation but doesn’t explain why A was in there so long on her own, plus they were stood in silence when I walked in, not even looking at each other.
I have since said to B that she was in there for 10 minutes and it seemed really odd. She’s denying it saying she was 2 minutes. None of the other friends want to talk about it anymore but I’m so freaked out.
Noodella18 · 01/11/2018 12:15
Think they were doing coke and drying hands was a ploy to stay there while you left?
tiggerkid · 01/11/2018 12:15
None of the other friends want to talk about it anymore but I’m so freaked out.
Maybe I am weird too but I really do feel like they deliberately did it somehow. Maybe not planned it but it sounds like the first one decided to act weird and when the 2nd one went in to check in on her, she must have told her that you are all creeped out by that and the first one may have suggested they do it together or maybe the 2nd one just decided to join in all on her own.
I am also not entirely sure that the first one stood there drying her hands solidly for the entire time she was there. For all you know, she could have been checking her phone or whatever and as soon as you went in, decided to pretend she was still drying her hands.
In any case, both of them are clearly into some weird game playing and you could either put it down to a single isolated case of weirdness or just move on from hanging out with them per se if they are consistently weird.
Jakethekid · 01/11/2018 12:18
Is it possible they've taken something? Very odd behaviour
SuchAToDo · 01/11/2018 12:19
Grasping at straws but maybe they were feeling cold and the hand dryer was temptingly warm 😂 it does sound weird though, you should ask them what they were doing
FingerLickingGod · 01/11/2018 12:22
She was obviously stalling so she could take drugs after you left or she was already on drugs.
SandAndSea · 01/11/2018 12:30
Was this last night? Maybe they thought it would be funny to pretend to be zombies??
Cutthedrivel · 01/11/2018 12:31
First of all I thught perhaps the first friend needed a poo and was a shy sort who didn't want you to overhear/smell so was delaying until you left the loos before dashing back into a cubicle.
Now I think they were both doing a line or so of coke.
I can't stand the way coked up people behave, so I would have moved on without them too!
Halloloween · 01/11/2018 12:43
It's unlikely given that you've spoken to them since but there's a drug called Spice that's rife where I am that turns people into literal zombies (... well not literal but you know what I mean!) they're upright but they're totally and utterly out of it. Could it be likely?

Such, the OP DID ask!
'what are you both doing? Friend A you’ve been in here for 40 minutes drying your hands! She looked at me and smiled!!… I have since said to B that she was in there for 10 minutes and it seemed really odd. She’s denying it saying she was 2 minutes. None of the other friends want to talk about it anymore'
It's so weird. I think I might have to conclude that they were doing drugs/waiting for a drug delivery.
ZeroFuchsGiven · 01/11/2018 12:46
I'm pretty sure they were not on spice, Have you actually ever seen a spicehead?
ZeroFuchsGiven · 01/11/2018 12:48
Op, Are you sure they were in there as long as you say?
