By telling me what board game is the most irritating, rage inducing one you can think of?

My SIL and her boyfriend are the most competitive people I know, and we always play game night with them and it ends in rage (this is LIGHT HEARTED, yes this is all there is to it, no massive back story or counselling needed Grin)

For a gift we want to get them a really bloody frustrating game because we're going to swot up on it first to kick their arses. Yes it's petty and no we don't care Grin

So pleeeeaaaase tell me.. what games make your family go crazy?

Risk.

FreddyFasbear · 30/09/2018 22:05

Monopoly. Fucking monopoly

Fucksgiven · 30/09/2018 22:05

Got to be poker. I fucking hate losing at poker.

headinhands · 30/09/2018 22:05

Ouija

Blameanamechange · 30/09/2018 22:08

Scotland yard.

UniversalTruth · 30/09/2018 22:09

How much effort are you prepared to put in here? Cos if they are THAT annoying, you could buy a quiz based game but read all the questions beforehand? Would be petty and also hilarious. Assuming you can act Grin

Nacreous · 30/09/2018 22:10

We managed to get cross over Pandemic in my house and that’s a collaborative game...

ProudThrilledHappy · 30/09/2018 22:10

It’s definitely Monopoly

Nacreous · 30/09/2018 22:11

Also re Universal - I have a friend who learnt the whole of tribal persuit :o

BillywigSting · 30/09/2018 22:11

Risk (or carcassonne)

Monopoly

Trivial pursuit

garethsouthgatesmrs · 30/09/2018 22:12

Blameanamechange is onto something there. Scotland yard is all about tactics and its short so easy to practise.

SerenDippyEggs · 30/09/2018 22:13

To all you absolute sods suggesting Monopoly, I'm sad to reveal that I'm already banned from playing that one.

@UniversalTruth you fucking evil genius. I'm doing that 10000%

@Nacreous tribal pursuit is a much more accurate nameGrin going with that from now on!

MillieMoodle · 30/09/2018 22:14

Monopoly.
Trivial pursuit.
Any board game played with DH. He cannot bear to lose. If I win a game, we have to keep playing it until he has won more times than me. It's ridiculous. Luckily I am not competitive any more, because it's pointless.

But he won't play air hockey with me. Oh no. I am UNBEATABLE. And he HATES it! Grin

Aintnothingbutaheartache · 30/09/2018 22:15

I remember when Trivial Pursuit first came out. I was absolutely blown away by relatively uneducated people being amazing.
Read and reread EVERY question, you will slay them 😉

Screamqueenz · 30/09/2018 22:15

Toru, amazingly competitive

Happygummibear · 30/09/2018 22:17

Mr and Mrs.... just make sure you know everything about each other...

Articulate.... you would need code words and be completely in sync

Adult size hungry hippos.... just need a lot of space

Thank me later!

Basically a game where the only way to win is to get everyone to agree with you every time - virtually impossible! Grin

BeetrootBonanza · 30/09/2018 22:17

Not so rage inducing necessarily, but some more serious board games are a lot harder and more frustrating if you don't know the rules and haven't previously played the game, and haven't got to grips with which strategies work well.
My dh and I like:
Flux
Settlers of Catan
Ticket to Ride
Euphoria

As a starting point

Iputthescrewinthetuna · 30/09/2018 22:17

It isn't a board game but it is a game. Rubiks race! Dd, DP and I play it. We take it in turns - winner stays on. We do a score board. Even though DD is only 10 (it's her birthday tomorrow, not anything to do with my point, but I am so excited for her I thought I would drop it in) even she gets frustrated. Adrenaline is high due to it being high speed and when you are 2 moves away and your opponent slams the frame down you want to scream!

Aintnothingbutaheartache · 30/09/2018 22:17

Oh and if you plan on cheating do it properly by ensuring the question cards are pristine and wrapped. If you can’t re-wrap them yourself, buy 2 sets.
It’s worth it

PlonkyPlink · 30/09/2018 22:20

The Really Nasty Horse-racing Game should to it Grin

Peachydream · 30/09/2018 22:20

I'd say monopoly, howeve4, My mum says I'm not allowed to play monopoly again.Blush

The ban was enforced 22yrs ago on a particularly rainy family holiday to north wales. Apparently it's not acceptable to throw silver top hats at your cheatingsister.

Aintnothingbutaheartache · 30/09/2018 22:20

Another one is giant blow up Pass The Pigs. If you lose you can always beat them about the head with an inflated porcine

ClaraLane · 30/09/2018 22:23

Taboo is brilliant, as is Linkee.

lolarose896 · 30/09/2018 22:23

I don't have any ideas but this sounds like so much fun!! Grin
