hidden damage from my DH

I am mortified and feel so guilty.
My DH bought me a kindle less than a week ago , just because.
Tonight it fell down the gap between the two reclining sections of our sofa.
I couldnt reach it so I pressed the reverse on the recliner and heard a crack.
The screen is totally smashed.
I have left it on the floor and will blame the dog when DH picks it up.
I feel terrible!!

Will he shout at the dog?

I'd feel far worse about lying...

Why not just tell him what happened

Also how could a dog crack a screen. They're not that fragile. Poor dog.

Yeah I don't see how a do would break a kindle screen. Also personally I would be more upset if some one was careless and left a gift where ddog could get it than a genuine accident damaged it

I find it worrying that you feel you can't be honest with your DH about what happened. It was an accident after all.

It was an accident! Wouldn't bother me if DW accidentally broke something. It would bother me if she felt she had to lie about it!!

If that happened to me with a gift from my husband, he wouldn’t be upset. It was an accident.

Why would you blame the dog? I don't think a dog standing on a kindle would smash the screen tbh. I know it was a gift bit just tell him or go get the screan replaced.

So my brother did something equally daft to a kindle and Amazon sent him a new one on basis it shouldn't break so easily. Maybe worth a try too..?

Why wouldn't you tell him? Whether you broke it, the dog broke it, or a freak gust of wind blew it over it was still an accident.

Be honest with him and either suck up the cost of a repair or claim it on your insurance.

Unless you're scared of him I have no idea why you'd try to pretend it wasn't you I this circumstance.

Being scared of telling your DH aside, phone amazon. I accidentally broke mine within two weeks and I received a new one FREE OF CHARGE in less than 24 hours and I got to keep the charger and cable so I now have an extra.

Shit happens. Get it replaced if you can and deal with your DH. It's wrong to be scared of a reaction from someone you love.

Tell him what happened and then go to a screen repairer place. It won't cost a lot. Or don't tell him what happened and go to a screen repairer place.

Don't blame the dog

If its still under warranty (which it will be) try contacting Amazon - they replaced one we had with a cracked screen. Jut ask them if they can fix it - they'll probably say no, not worth it, and offer to swap it. They were really good and swapped our out.
