Im late!!!!

So - long story short. Im always pretty much 99% on time with my monthlies! Its always between a 27-29 day cycle. But normally pretty much spot on 28 days.

Its always the same thing - nightmare for the first 2 days, tails off for 2/3 days afterwards.

But this month - 3 days late. Im shattered, cant stop peeing and I keep feeling super nauseous. The first 2 here I had with the previous pregnancies, the latter I never had with either.

Done one of the really really cheap pregnancy tests and it came up negative - will also note I did this mid way through the day - today actually.

This is a definite TMI but there is a very very minor pinkish discharge - nothing else of note though - and reading up online this could be 'implantation bleeding'.

Ive been with OH just over a year, we have 2 DC's each so really, another is not something we have discussed or even something Im sure we would do.

So - my huge question is - what is the absolute latest that if I do a test, it comes out negative, that I can be definitely sure it is definitely negative. Is 3 days late enough to say it is definitely negative?

Are you using contraception? You don’t mention any?

I mean, the limit technically doesn't exist. There have been rare cases of people never testing positive on a home pregnancy test despite being pregnant but realistically I'd say a week after a missed period. If there's not even a hint of a line then, you're safe.

Oh sorry - no Im not on anything. We use the withdrawal method. Which is why Im panicking. I had a really bad reaction to the coil and we were giving my body time to recover. Being a bloke, he refuses to wear a condom. (yes I know - sigh)

You definitely sound pregnant to me but you may just be ill. Are you running a fever or anything? Has anyone else been ill that you have come into contact with?

Definitely not poorly - no fever - nobody around me is ill or has been ill. And heaved dropping DC's off at the childminder this morning.

A man who puts you at risk of unwanted pregnancy, asking you to take serious medical risks with your health, all because he doesn’t want to put a condom on, is not a “bloke” I would touch with a bargepole.

Please start using contraception - if he won’t, find someone who will.

That aside, I’d test again first thing in a couple of days then a few days after that if still negative. The pink tinge could be implantation but could also just be the very early start of a period.

Oh god the withdrawal method 🙄 and don’t give him the excuse of being a bloke! Lots of blokes (like my DH) happily wear condoms if hormonal contraception isn’t suitable for their partners. There is every chance you could be pregnant, or will become so in the future and if you haven’t discussed it with your DP it’s a crazy risk to take.

Anyway, here endeth the sermon. You possibly could be pregnant, 3 days late is still quite early (although if you’re usually regular it might be more of a sign...). I would test again when you’re a week late (assuming you don’t start before then) and see what happens.

You could also test again tomorrow but with morning wee when the hormones are strongest.

That's not a bloke thing, that's a selfish twat thing. DH didn't particularly like condoms but he wore them because he had to if he/we wanted to avoid getting me pregnant.

I'd test again in a day or two with first morning urine and see what the result is.

Why do you have sex with someone so stupid? Most blokes use condoms if they don't want a baby.

Honestly, I dont want the issue to be all about his refusal to wear condoms. If I had pressed it further then Im sure he would have done. He really isnt an idiot - I think we just both thought the withdrawal method would be reliable enough - I havent had a positive test yet....

The cheap test are pretty reliable I've found and I have had 6 pregnancies . Wait a week and test again if it's still negative repeat in a weeks time. Start using condoms.

Surely the withdrawl method is just luck of the draw, and only for people who secretly want to be pregnant. Congrats OP you probably are.

How can you not know how totally unreliable this is? Were you off sick when this was covered in school?

I would wait a week before testing. Periods can suddenly go a few days out for no reason. 31 or 32 days wouldn't be unreasonable. If you know you ovulated and had signs of that and then 14 days later you get a negative test, then it's likely to be negative.
If it was implantation bleeding you'd have had it earlier than 28 days I think.

So you've been having unprotected sex and now your period is late. Well yeah, of course you might be pregnant.

My friend was using the withdrawal method, they now have a 5yo & a 2yo, didn't learn the first time that it didn't work!

I have known a friend to get negative tests for the first 12 weeks of one of her pregnancies! Would guess that's probably unusual though!
