So - long story short. Im always pretty much 99% on time with my monthlies! Its always between a 27-29 day cycle. But normally pretty much spot on 28 days.

Its always the same thing - nightmare for the first 2 days, tails off for 2/3 days afterwards.

But this month - 3 days late. Im shattered, cant stop peeing and I keep feeling super nauseous. The first 2 here I had with the previous pregnancies, the latter I never had with either.

Done one of the really really cheap pregnancy tests and it came up negative - will also note I did this mid way through the day - today actually.

This is a definite TMI but there is a very very minor pinkish discharge - nothing else of note though - and reading up online this could be 'implantation bleeding'.

Ive been with OH just over a year, we have 2 DC's each so really, another is not something we have discussed or even something Im sure we would do.

So - my huge question is - what is the absolute latest that if I do a test, it comes out negative, that I can be definitely sure it is definitely negative. Is 3 days late enough to say it is definitely negative?

Being a bloke, he refuses to wear a condom

Why can women wear them? Not all blokes refuse them! Only idiots ... sorry but come on!

My 4th child is here as a result of the withdrawal method. We were waiting for my coil to be fitted after having my 3rd. We'd managed for years not to get pregnant using it as I couldn't have any hormonal contraception and he is allergic to latex. The non latex condoms give me thrush everytime we used one. He had a vasectomy it was the best option for us. If you don't want anymore children why don't you consider permanent contraception?
As for being pregnant do a fmu test

Charlie97 · 20/09/2018 19:14

@GorgonLondon please don't advocate withdrawal as a contraception ...... it's not!

Sunshinegirl82 · 20/09/2018 19:22

There is a bad batch of the Internet cheap tests going round at the moment, I did one on the day my period was due and it was negative. I got positives on a frer and digital on the same day. I wouldn't trust the test and would test again with a frer. Good luck!

3ChangingForNow · 20/09/2018 19:23

I used withdrawal method successfully for five years. TTC successfully in first month.

Thatssomebadhatharry · 20/09/2018 19:23

My understanding is implantation bleeding happens before your missed period as implantation is 7-10 days after ovulation. Period comes 14 days after ovulation. So most likely it is the start of your monthly. I bet it’s often like this for you but you don’t notice until you are looking for it.

Graphista · 20/09/2018 19:24

Ffs is sex ed really so poor in the uk these days?! Too many threads like this!

Another possibility is an sti - which you also seem to have completely forgotten exist!

I'd recommend Drs ASAP both to find out why and to get ACTUAL contraception sorted/advised on.

Slimtimeagain · 20/09/2018 20:30

graphista op says they've been tested for STIs and were fine.

Graphista · 20/09/2018 20:52

Some sti's don't always show up on routine screening, but will show if symptomatic. We don't know when the screening took place or where and op's comment suggested 'most' were tested for. Sti clinics do more thorough screening than most GP practices for instance.

Plus a guy who won't wear comdoms would worry me unless I was actually with him when he got the screening and I knew it was all on the up and up. Very easy to claim you were screened and all fine if not pushed for proof. Plus again his screening might have shown negative but certain sti's can still be transmitted when 'active' and quite a few sti's are more virulent in women than men.

cleopatracomingatya · 20/09/2018 20:54

I took a test 4 days late and it was negative, then another 3 days later and it was positive. But I know some brands can detect before you missed your period so just go get one and try, you'll drive yourself mad otherwise

PositiveVibez · 20/09/2018 21:01

Being a bloke, he refuses to wear a condom

What an absolute Prince among men.

Please don't blame his selfishness on 'being a bloke'. Not all 'blokes' are this pathetic.

Bunnica15 · 20/09/2018 21:07

I took a test when I was 2 days late, it was negative.. I took another one a day later and it was super faint, barely visible line.. same on day 4.
Im currently 39+2 days pregnant... I can take a few days to show 👀

HidingFromMyKids · 21/09/2018 10:12

Have you done a test this morning OP?

I have irregular cycles but didn't get a positive until 2 weeks later than I should have.

This. What an idiot.

HairyLegs11 · 21/09/2018 11:52

Well, even though you blame him, for no using condoms, you still made the decision to have sex with him without using any concontraception. So you are equally to blame and equally at fault. Learn from this and sort something out.

There is a difference in choosing to use the withdrawal method with a husband of several years than in a short term relationship with a neanderthal who refuses to wear condoms
No, there isn't. The woman can choose to say no. She can say she wants to protect herself against unplanned pregnancy and STDs. The woman holds all the cards in this situation (with the exception of rape).

glintandglide · 21/09/2018 11:57

You’ve only been together a year and he refuses to use condoms- think of all the other sex he’s had without a condom. He could’ve given you HIV for goodness sake!

glintandglide · 21/09/2018 11:58

Sorry that took so long to post I cross posted with your claim that you’ve both been tested. Not usually something irresponsible men bother with Shock

emma2939 · 21/09/2018 12:16

I got pregnant using withdrawal method..... and a pound shop test didn't work for me it said negative, I was unconvinced so tried the next day (first wee) with a different test and it showed up positive in seconds!! Try a different test in a morning x
