DD is 12 just gone into year 8. She is so shy she won't even ask for a bill in a restaurant and it was year 5 before she would even ask a question in class.... but she desperately wanted to be in school play. she went for auditions in year 6 and 7 but told me it was so difficult for her she froze and run out of both in tears.

Last night she came home and told me that shes auditioned and got a decent speaking part. Not a main character ( they went to 6th form) but a lovely humourous character part. I didn't even know auditions were on. Now I've just had an email from her drama teacher saying how pleased he is with and how hard shes worked to improve her confidence and acting over the last year

I actually went an had a private sob I am so proud of her..

sorry I know I'm boasting but just so happy for her

If youve got a really shy child theres hope yet

Oh that's fantastic! I was a shy child and wish I'd plucked up the courage like your dd. Congratulations to her.

Thta's wonderful - really shows her strength of character. Well done your DD.

HectorlovesKiki · 18/09/2018 11:01

Well done to her. So you should be proud of her.
My DD was excruciatingly shy as a teenager but absolutely blossomed, has no fear of public speaking now, infact, has no fear of anything. Looking at her now, it's hard to believe she was that same introverted, withdrawn child.
Acting will boost DD confidence even more. Good luck to you both.

Theg00dwife · 18/09/2018 11:01

Aww that’s lovely. Well done to the teacher for telling you too.
I’m a mum of a very shy daughter too, she really comes alive when she’s dancing (but won’t speak to anyone in any of her dance classes!) This gives me hope.
Well done to your daughter and enjoy the performance!

PermanentlyFrizzyHairBall · 18/09/2018 11:03

Also just to add how lovely that her teacher took the time to email you and obviously cares so much about DD.
