Well I am?

Saw a house last week and each and every radiator was painted. Ranging from sky blue to burgundy. Why???????????

The whole lot would need to be replaced.

Grrr

you can strip em and paint em gloss white can't you?

Fimbo · 08/06/2007 13:43

Have just got details for another house today and this time bright lemon radiators.

Pah humbug

Can't bear the thought of stripping radiators it was a large house and there were loads of them!

better than painting them something that contrasts vividly with the walls, non?

(although sky blue and burgundy paint anywhere would put me off a house)

nomdeplume · 08/06/2007 13:45

get radiator covers.

Fimbo · 08/06/2007 13:47

Bingo! Rad covers perfect.

I like white radiators.

OP posts:
Twiglett · 08/06/2007 13:48

rad covers cost mucho dinero

ShrinkingViolet · 08/06/2007 13:48

make them yourself - much cheaper

queenofpuddings · 08/06/2007 13:52

we have painted our radiators to match the walls in some rooms depending on the colour

Enid · 08/06/2007 13:53

I have painted my radiators to match my walls

you can buy special stuff hat you paint over them then repaint

it is no biggie, I presume you'e want to repaint the burgundy rooms anyway

RedLorryYellowLorry · 08/06/2007 13:54

The rads in this houe were so old we had to paint them. We are replacing them slowly and I mean slowly.

Idreamofdaleks · 08/06/2007 13:56

YABU
you will never get a new house like this Fimbpo

NoodleStroodle · 08/06/2007 13:57

But will you not redecorate anyway. As soon as all the furniture is out houses look tired and dirty. Far more important things when buying a house than rads IMO

Fimbo · 08/06/2007 14:02

I hear y'all.

But I want white radiators. White, white, white.

Blame Ann Maurice.

Fimbo · 08/06/2007 14:06

Ann Maurice it's all your fault.

OP posts:
Enid · 08/06/2007 14:10

paint them white then you lazy cow

OrmIrian · 08/06/2007 14:11

You can make radiator covers - don't cost that much. Or at least my DH can.... not sure I'd know where to start.

Fimbo · 08/06/2007 14:17

MOO

mumblechum · 08/06/2007 14:31

We have rads that blend in in a few of the rooms, albeit fairly inoffensive colourschemes. I think white rads against a dark wall would look worse than ones which blend in.

Fimbo · 08/06/2007 14:33

I don't do coloured walls either I am afraid. My house is white.

lol at "shitty sludgy colour". It's right, tho, I always pmsl at the f&b colour chart."Mouse ear" - what's that all about????

Fimbo · 08/06/2007 14:36

I think it would look ok in Farrow & Ball paint colours but believe me sky blue and burgundy cheapo is not a good look.

expatinscotland · 08/06/2007 14:37

And also you can then have a nice shelf over the radiator to put geegaws on.
