Sharing a bar of soap?

My dp, 2 dc and myself all use soap when we wash/shower/bathe. We all use the same bar of soap. I over heard my dsd on the phone to her Mum telling her we share soap and saying its dirty then they both laughed! Confused apparently they have their own soap because its 'unhygienic' to share. Apparently they have a bar for their feet, a bar to wash their body and a bar to wash their face. So 3 different bars each?! HmmWe have shower gel so dsd uses that but just thought it was rude for her and her Mum to be saying its 'dirty'. Anyone else share soap or just us? Hmm

If you had three bars of soap each for four people, how would you even know which bar was which? We only have bars of soap for hand washing but there is just one for everyone to use

sonlypuppyfat · 07/09/2018 13:29

Surely soap is self cleaning.

mistermagpie · 07/09/2018 13:29

It's soap, surely it's clean? I use soap and DH uses shower gel but if he used my soap I wouldn't think twice about it...

Siobhan8686 · 07/09/2018 13:29

Exactly. It makes no sense. I just didn't like the fact they where laughing and insinuating that we're dirty for sharing a bar of soap.

They are being hysterical, pathetic and ignorant. I find it bizarre that otherwise 'normal' people cannot use google but prefer to be frightened all the time by germ scares.

Bluecloudyskies · 07/09/2018 13:30

Eewww pubes in the soap!

BreakfastAtSquiffanys · 07/09/2018 13:31

so if soap is dirty, what do you clean it with?
soap...

Haffiana · 07/09/2018 13:31

When you use a bar of soap, you literally wash off the outer layer. Therefore there are no germs on it.

That is in addition to the fact that almost no bacteria can survive on the alkaline surface of a soap.

abbsisspartacus · 07/09/2018 13:33

This is why we use flannels to keep the pubes off the soap!

Siobhan8686 · 07/09/2018 13:33

We don't rub the soap direct on our skin, we rub the soap on a flannel or exfoliating gloves then wash. I was just a bit pee'd off by her comment and thought surely were bot the only ones.

I was just a bit pee'd off by her comment

Why? Surely this deserves nothing more than a laugh or a "you're nuts" comment

BreakfastAtSquiffanys · 07/09/2018 13:36

and surely if you are going to have Zoned soap, it should be Face, Body (including feet) and Bum, not Face, Body (including Bum) and Feet!

vampirethriller · 07/09/2018 13:37

That's a lot of bars of soap to keep track of, do they colour code?! Bizarre.

longwayoff · 07/09/2018 13:41

ThanksGrin Grin Grin imagining 'bath night' at dsd house. Utter tosh.

Sabrinathethirtysomethingwitch · 07/09/2018 13:43

Me and DH share a bar of soap. Don't use a facecloth. Germs etc have never crossed my mind Grin

IWantMyHatBack · 07/09/2018 13:44

😁

OldSpeclkledHen · 07/09/2018 13:45

WTAF?!! One bar does all here ...

HildaZelda · 07/09/2018 13:45

Not quite the same as three bars of soap, but I have a friend who has two toothbrushes. One for the morning and one for the evening .....

OldSpeclkledHen · 07/09/2018 13:46

People crack me up! 🤣🤣

Soap's fine, FGS. Do they really have that many bars of soap in use??!!

Isn't this why shower gel might have been invented?Confused

I use both, BTW, just in case anyone thinks I'm dissing either!

This is very funny.
I know someone who won't sip out of her husband's water bottle because "germs". I always think "but presumably you snog him and let him put his willy in you ..."

DPotter · 07/09/2018 13:57

Some people's ideas on hygiene are just plain weird and certainly not logical. Like people who rinse chicken under the cold tap before cooking. Their idea being to rinse of bacteria - which can only be killed with heat!

honeylulu · 07/09/2018 14:03

@DPotter
Yes, and spraying said bacteria all over their sink, draining board etc!
