Anyone else horrified by alarming amount in dyson handheld?

Every time I use it, perhaps 3/4 times a week it's filled with hideousness! I clean a normal amount and we are not a particularly messy family, but I now have dyson shame every single use. Please tell me it's not just me? If it is I'm reverting to the Henry Hoover where the shame is hidden Grin

I SO want one of those hand held vacuum cleaners but we're on an economy drive and can't justify £300 😢. We bought a Miele about 10 years ago - it's amazing quality, so coupled with the fact that we don't vacuum very often means that's it's never going to bloody well break unless I accidentally throw it down the stairs.

I'm sure I'd use a hand held one a lot more though. Lugging our current one around and plugging it in is just too much of a faff.

OP, don't you find seeing all that dust and crap really satisfying, though?

MeAgainSparkle · 04/09/2018 16:53

Reading your post I have never wanted anything so much in my life! I need to see exactly what filth we are living in Grin

Bluntness100 · 04/09/2018 16:54

I recently changed from an old dyson to a shark. First use in the living room and it was literally full. In one room. I was horrified 🤣

GummyGoddess · 04/09/2018 16:55

Ugh, even vacuuming twice a day still yields a horrific amount. I don't know where it comes from!

Bordercollies · 04/09/2018 16:55

I have a shark and the first time i used it i had to empty it after doing a couple of square metres Blush. The barrel bit lifts off so i dont have to lug the whole thing about. I do love it but i feel silently judged by it every time i use it Grin

ExBbqQueen · 04/09/2018 16:56

I love my dyson V7. I do not love that it makes me look like I never clean

Twinmama32 · 04/09/2018 16:56

Yes initially I felt very pleased, rewarded in a way by the collected dirt! However I've had it a year and it's not decreasing, I now feel a bit alarmed that the dust can never be all gone! Normally not at all bothered by a little dust, but the volume of it is madness...we are out all week too!
Perhaps someone is coming in and shaking their skin all over my house?

I had this exact conversation the other day at work. I consider myself a clean person who keeps a reasonably clean and tidy house but I was horrified.

Bluntness100 · 04/09/2018 16:57

I quite like it, I'm weirdly fascinated by how much stuff comes out thr carpet and feel myself peering into thr plastic bowl. 🤣

PolkerrisBeach · 04/09/2018 16:57

Love my wee Dyson handheld. I think it just looks a lot because the chamber is tiny compared with a conventional, much larger machine. So it fills up a lot quicker.

Toddlerteaplease · 04/09/2018 16:57

Yes it horrifying and mine isn't just full of cat hair either. Yuk!

Bluntness100 · 04/09/2018 16:58

However I've had it a year and it's not decreasing

Oh mine decreased

😁

safariboot · 04/09/2018 16:59

Agreed with PolkerrisBeach, they have tiny containers.

Cosmos45 · 04/09/2018 17:00

I could knit myself a new dog every week with the amount of hair that fills the dyson up.. I have the big Dyson and hand held one and empty them both every time I use them as I have a perverse pleasure in seeing the filth collected..

Poodles1980 · 04/09/2018 17:01

It’s so grim but so satisfying. I could never go back to a vacuum cleaner where I couldn’t see the grime

LexieLulu · 04/09/2018 17:01

I have a dyson animal handheld and hate it, brilliant on laminate but rubbish for animal hair on carpets.

But I agree it fills up so quick and is revolting.

Wish I'd bought a shark tho

Brandnewshit · 04/09/2018 17:02

I had a dyson, an old one, i bought a £90 quid vax, 2nd hand for £30, i was the same, i couldn't believe what came out of the livibg room carpet, an old friend who hadn't been round for years bobbed round and actually asked if i had a new carpet.
My proudest moment ever!

A0001 · 04/09/2018 17:03

For those that can’t afford new keep an eye out here

Got my V6 Animal from there ages ago, totally refurbed and with a 1 year Dyson guarantee. Half the price of new.

I luffs it.

RocknRolla · 04/09/2018 17:04

I hoover every day at least twice and it disgusts me how much comes out. Was the best thing I ever bought though.

Twinmama32 · 04/09/2018 17:05

Just worked out I vacuum 1.5hours a week assuming I only use it for one charge a day... perhaps I need TWO dysons and that will sort it.
Or maybe I should spend less time calculating how much I vacuum and more time doing it?Blush

ProseccoPoppy · 04/09/2018 17:05

I have a big cordless Dyson. And a very hairy dog. We fill the thing with dust and dog hair absolutely every time we hoover (which at the moment is twice a day). Our carpets look way cleaner than they did with our old cheap Argos vac though, and it is super easy to use (and empty).

Foslady · 04/09/2018 17:07

Is this the one that only lasts 13 mins from a 3 and a half hour charge? That dodnmy head in when I was sorting a friend’s house out!!!

sexnotgender · 04/09/2018 17:09

msvestibule you can get a refurbished one on eBay from dyson themselves. Look out for the discount codes that have been around recently.

I got one for £143, you’d never know it wasn’t brand new.

DiscontinuedModelHusband · 04/09/2018 17:17

the amount of DD and DW's hair i have to pry off the roller each time it gets used makes me wonder how they've still got any on their heads!

horrifies me to think how infrequently we used to hoover with the massive old dyson. BlushBlushBlush
