Daft things your pets do

Was just innocently wallowing in a nice warm bath, reading my book and generally relaxing.

Out of nowhere a blur of fluff came flying through the air and landed with a splash right on top of me.

Yup the god randomly decided he wanted to jump in the bath with me -has never done this before!

Was laughing so much it was a struggle to lift him back out.

So as it’s Saturday and I’m home alone and bored - aibu to ask you to entertain me with stories of daft things your pets do.

One of my cats thinks the only way to go outside is to pull the cat flap towards him and wriggle out. Despite the fact he comes in completely normally. I’ve come to the conclusion that he’s an idiot

Nolagerformethanks · 25/08/2018 19:14

Cat sits and stares at through the patio door getting soaked when it rains waiting to be let in, completely ignoring the other open door about 2 metres to her left 🙈

girlwithadragontattoo · 25/08/2018 19:15

I have 2 dogs, 1 big and 1 small one. The smaller ones likes to eat my dirty underwear. The bigger one cannot see water without jumping in it, the sea, the dam the river etc.. if you let him off the lead he goes in.
The bigger one also likes to take his lead in his mouth and take himself for a walk Grin

Loads of things cat got neutered 8 years ago every so often she finds a dc toy she quite likes. She then proceeds to treat it as her baby. This time it's a building block she makes the trilling noise as she comes in from outside as she looks for it.

She must sit on the top of the toilet when I go and she bats the toilet paper until I ask her if I can please have some.

I'm not allowed to get into MY bed until she has fully inspected it and given her approval by rolling around on it if I choose to not let her do this she sits next to my head batting me until I get out and let the inspection begin. She's a bloody weirdo.

My puppy is a toddler turd burglar

porkinmyteeth · 25/08/2018 19:25

@cakesandphotos ours does this! It drives me insane with rage! As he comes IN completely normally

FASH84 · 25/08/2018 19:27

Cat meows loudly at the bathroom door if one of us is showering, if the door is ajar and I'm in the bath he'll come in put his front paws on the edge of the tub and meow loudly, in a desperate panicked way like he thinks we'll drown. When younger he also used to steal my underwear, make a nest out of it under the bed and sleep in it. He also runs to the front door like a dog when the bell rings or there's post and loves cake more than any feline should, he's a cake junkie who will steal it from your plate if you don't watch him (found out DH used to share doughnuts with him when he was a kitten 🙄). He also likes to be the littlest spoon when we go to bed... I let my cat get away with too much...

Nikephorus · 25/08/2018 19:29

I've got a cat climber outside the kitchen window, about a metre or so from the back door. Youngest cat will come in through the kitchen window to take a treat off me on the kitchen worktop and then go straight back outside and sit by the back door to be let in that way!

TooManyPaws · 25/08/2018 19:34

One of my dogs has a wonky leg and had a bad start in life in Romania. When she was rescued and I adopted her, I really didn't think it would work out until she found her safe place - my bed. She will often spend time under the duvet, visible only as a lump. At night, she sleeps under the duvet, against my belly or feet - a great hot water bottle.

The weird thing she does on top of that is that every time either she changes position or I get up to go to the loo, she has to get out from under the duvet at the foot of the bed, come up to the top of the bed, get under the duvet again and work her way down. 🙄😕🤔😴

Duchessgummybuns · 25/08/2018 19:36

My cat is barmy, he likes to sleep in the drawers of my divan bed. If you open one and find him he will glare at you and slowly close the drawer again.

Trashcanoracle · 25/08/2018 19:43

How long have you got ....
Cat 1 - only eats off the BLUE plates, the BLUE ones
LOVES getting dried with a towel and brushed to the point where she'll sit outside in pissing rain 10 times a day. Just for the JOY of getting dried.
STARES. Like Dr Who weeping angel. Totally unnerving.
Cat 2 - SO many eating spots around the house. Come on idiot human, guess where it is this time.
Favourite hobby is waking me up in the night to chew my hair and purr. Just because.
I have more. SO many, many more ...

StoorieHoose · 25/08/2018 19:50

Our rescue Collie will get it teddy and sit at the living room every night at 9 on the dot to go up stairs to bed. If I don’t go up with him he comes up and puts the teddy on my knee and whimpers. I don’t mind during the week but he’s a pain at that weekends

SunnySkiesSleepsintheMorning · 25/08/2018 19:54

My dog is totally nonplused by thunder. He’s keen to potter around the garden when it’s chucking it down and thundering. No fear. Yet, if you get his hair brush out, he looks horrified, whines a lot and shakes in fear.

checkingforballoons · 25/08/2018 19:54

Our house rabbit has a few! He runs in circles around my feet when I’m feeding him, which means I have to walk incredibly slowly from the cupboard to where I put his bowl down. Yes, this has resulted in accidentally kicking him before. No, he hasn’t learnt his lesson.
He sulks. If we’ve been away for a few days he’ll sit with his back to us, look behind him to check that we know we’re being ignored and then look back again.
He holds me cuddle hostage. If he wants strokes and I stop he’ll keep nudging at me until I start again.
Oh and he steals my sons snacks if they’re left within his reach - will happily make off with a slice of apple and hide under the dining table to eat it.

anothernameagain000 · 25/08/2018 19:56

@loatmyemail your cat sounds amazing - does she offer a turndown service as well as inspections?

Namethecat · 25/08/2018 19:57

Our cat waits until my dh gets up in the morning. She will then get on the bed and come right up to my face and stare until it wakes me up. If I get up before she has done this it makes her furious and she will keep on leading me back to bed so she can do it .

Domino20 · 25/08/2018 19:59

Both our cats come out to walk the dog with me. I'm a source of much amusement in the neighborhood. The boy cat also knows how to tell the time and asks/demands for dinner every night at 9pm print.

anothernameagain000 · 25/08/2018 19:59

And @checkingforbaloons - the checking that you are watching you’re watching is great! I used to have a stoppy rabbit too!

ResistanceIsNecessary · 25/08/2018 20:00

My old dog is senile, deaf and partly blind. Consequently he gets spoiled rotten. To the point that if he needs extra space in the bed one of us will get up and go and sleep on the sofa Blush Sometimes we don't oblige quickly enough for his liking, so his way of addressing this is to constantly get up, circle and then bodyslam himself against one of us until we get up...

The younger dog is a galumping idiot. If she likes you, or is pleased to see you, or is generally excited, then she will grab one of her favourite toys and squeak it whilst running round the house. Always the same toys and always the same route around the place!

abbsisspartacus · 25/08/2018 20:02

I had a cat that would "take me" to bed he would follow me while I locked up sit on the sink while I peed hop on my shoulders for a lift into the bedroom then jump down look around and go downstairs to his bed every night

My other cat would wake me if the baby cried any baby not just my baby even the neighbours baby 🤦‍♀️

bakebakebake · 25/08/2018 20:17

Climbs up DH back and just sits there..

He also does the cat flap thing were he pulls it towards him to get out and come back in.

He growls when the door goes.
