Ohgivemestrength1 · 18/08/2018 22:29

In London at a party. £10 for a fucking g&t. Pretentious crowd. Would rather be at home in my pj's with a cup of tea. Aibu??

Why are you there if you don’t like the people?! I agree London nights out are expensive, but you must have known that before you decided to go?

sweetkitty · 18/08/2018 22:32

No I hated London nights out overpriced drinks, trying to get the last train or a taxi home.

BrokenFlipflop · 18/08/2018 22:33

Been there, done it, hated it. In the end I stopped going to parties held in venues like that. I've never enjoyed myself as I don't relax.

Can you leave?

NancyJoan · 18/08/2018 22:34

Of course you’re not. Sounds like a great night out to me, but if you’re not enjoying it, go home and watch a bit of telly before bed.

TallSlutNoPantiesthe2nd · 18/08/2018 22:39

YABU to imply that all London nights out involve pretentious people (although TBF £10 g&ts are not uncommon). YWNBU leave if you're not enjoying yourself though (and buy a bottle of Bombay sapphire on your way home).

Sparklesocks · 18/08/2018 22:40

If it’s not your cuppa it’s not your cuppa!
Unfortunately they’ll charge £10 because people will pay it, but it must be in a posh area as your average London g+t would be more like £5-6.

Ivgotasecretcanyoukeepit · 18/08/2018 22:42

£10 for a G&T? That is pretty much standard wherever you go in a major city ie Manchester,Glasgow, Edinburgh etc so not just London.

Bouledeneige · 18/08/2018 23:10

Hate G&T - missing the point. Drink beer!

I prefer nights out just with one friend or maybe a few really good ones - something to eat and drink and a really good chance to talk. Somewhere cozy and friendly. I hate poncey nights out.

AnExcellentUsername · 18/08/2018 23:21

Where the fuck are you drinking in Glasgow than a gin and tonic costs a tenner??

RedRedBluee · 18/08/2018 23:23

I went to uni in London. Usually went to student nights but occasionally we did venture into central... found a club where the shots were £12.50!!! Nope Shock

puzzledlady · 18/08/2018 23:26

Yabu. No one is forcing you to go out in London. £10 is cheap for a gnt - you can’t be in central London. Go home if you hate it. 🤷🏻‍♀️

Womaningreen · 18/08/2018 23:28

YANBU
My friends love this kind of thing but I've opted out now
They can have unlimited gin at mine but they like their swanky bars.

I don't like the bars or the journey home.

EnthusiasmIsDisturbed · 18/08/2018 23:30

I used to love nights out in bars and clubs mostly in central London

Now on occasion I might go but would never get the night bus back and leave early standing around in loud bars where i can’t hear myself 🤔 (yes I am over 40) is painful and boring

Much rather a night in watching Netflix

LunaLovegoodsRadishes · 18/08/2018 23:31

YANBU. I prefer a quiet meal in my local borough and walk home. Far easier, cheaper and more pleasant.

Ohgivemestrength1 · 18/08/2018 23:51

Grin funny responses. Just forgot how expensive nights out were. I have a baby and live in the sticks so it's been a while. Priorities have changed I guess. Oh well nearly home time!

OP posts:
Misericord · 18/08/2018 23:53

I count the minutes until it’s socially acceptable to go home.

Womaningreen · 18/08/2018 23:56

Oh I hate the "can't hear anything" thing
I'm convinced people are just pretending to hear what others are saying!

Ohgivemestrength1 · 18/08/2018 23:58

@Misericord yes! Hahaha. Oh God I'm dull Grin

“£10 is cheap for a gnt”

Gotta love MN. Even if you were complaining about a 30 quid g&t there would always be an Elevenerife poster saying that wAs in fact cheap!

SpiritedLondon · 19/08/2018 00:10

FGS stop whining. Go home already. Yes of course you can drink gin in your front room but you’ll never encounter the same possibilities as you will stepping out onto a city street on a summer night.

SpiritedLondon · 19/08/2018 00:12

My last 2 nights out in London were to see Jack White play in Hammersmith and to see Hamilton. Yes absolute boasts.... good luck experiencing that in the sticks.

Ivgotasecretcanyoukeepit · 19/08/2018 00:17

@AnExcellentUsername - the west end of Glasgow, were ubiquitous chip is also in more central Glasgow hutchesons G&T’s are around £10.

RoseWhiteTips · 19/08/2018 00:18

where

LoniceraJaponica · 19/08/2018 00:26

"£10 for a G&T? That is pretty much standard wherever you go in a major city ie Manchester,Glasgow, Edinburgh etc so not just London."

Shock I must live a sheltered life. I think £10 for a G & T is extortionate.
NeverTwerkNaked · 19/08/2018 00:32

“The same possibilities” ... drunk people, letchy men, overpriced drink, sticky floors...nope, I partied hard in my teens and twenties but don’t miss it at all now!!
