Whilst most of the UK is enjoying sunny weather, most of us are spending more time outside. I love to hear neighbours having fun outside to an extent, however I have a near-neighbour whose very distinctive, booming voice (talking and singing) can be heard far and wide, often until after 11pm weekdays due to the warm evenings. I would love to hear of your good/not-so-good experiences of spending time outside this summer so far....

My next door neighbour has bought a hot tub. Lovely for her. Not for us at 2am when she and her drunk friends get in it and scream loudly. It sounds like a inflatable bed being pumped up in a pub garden Angry

My other next door neighbour is lovely and we love hearing them in the garden with their little girl (& going round for prosecco!!)

Runrunrudolf · 02/08/2018 20:35

One of our neighbours has a distinctive voice that just irritates me no offence on he ebut she sounds exactly like that women from that Merlin episode where she kept sprinkling pixie dust on that princess so she could get back to Avalon Grin

Aside from pettiness she's always having parties and nothing but bloody George ezra is played until 23:00

I used to like his music... Sad

VioletBow · 02/08/2018 20:35

My neighbours opposite are cam girls, and we live in a small terraced street and in this heat we all have our windows open. Have spent the last few weeks hearing all sorts of noises coming from theirs Envy (not envy)

Just thankful dd's bedroom is at the back of the house 😂

Runrunrudolf · 02/08/2018 20:36

Her but* haha

MrsDmitriTippensKrushnic · 02/08/2018 20:37

One of the flats below us has discovered the joys of smoking weed on the balcony this fine summer. It's irritating and sets my asthma off. We started shutting the balcony door quite sharply when we smell it and now they light a joss stick just before lighting up! I think they think they're being helpful - my lungs don't agree (I don't know which flat it is - whichever balcony they're on they stand at the back and I cba to go downstairs and spy)

OhHolyFuck · 02/08/2018 20:38

They've stolen my amazon parcel! Accepted it as a delivery about 10 days ago (delivery driver put a card through) and then have not answered their door every time I've called or tried to bring it across....

cheesemongery · 02/08/2018 20:43

My neighbour and her 16 yr old son smoke weed every evening in the garden - it wafts in and our house (terraced) stinks of it. I've no problem with her smoking it, but do it in her own house. I've just had to shut the window - just as it's cooling down! Grrr

Any advice?

Pinkyponkcustard · 02/08/2018 20:45

Ugh what’s a cam girl violet?

We have two sad bastard neighbours sb 1 cleans all of his cars every Saturday morning (he must be horrified at my crusty ride) and sb 2 who cuts his grass at EVERY opportunity and I’ve even see get down on his hands and knees with scissors!

Dippysnowoman · 02/08/2018 20:46

My super loud shouty sweary neighbours have been away on holiday for 2 weeks.
Its been bliss.
They came home yesterday. The shouting has already started and my tv is back on level 8 to drown out theirs. Angry

cheesemongery · 02/08/2018 20:47

MrsDimitri Similar problem. Although ours is not a medical issue I just hate the smell of it.

I'd buy a manure joss stick if I could to annoy them, but don't want to annoy the other neighbours. My bedroom is at the back so windows open, I have to go to work, but am often woken up by a midnight spliff.

Ooh I'm not being very lighthearted Grin I'm feeling a murderous rage!

CocktailQueenie · 02/08/2018 20:50

Hate the smell of weed - not particularly good parenting to smoke it with her 16 yr old, but each to their own. Wouldn't life be perfect if everyone was a bit more considerate?

My ndn is lovely and normally I wouldn't have a bad word to say about her, BUT

.... she's gone and got some fucking WIND CHIMES! They're in the front window, which has been open for several weeks because of the heat wave, and they're fucking loud.

MrsDmitriTippensKrushnic · 02/08/2018 20:53

@cheesemongery I don't have an issue with the smell in other circumstances, outside at a festival or whatever but it's so strong here and permeates the entire flat (and makes me cough)

Apparently I was tempting fate by posting this (or they're on MN!) as they've just lit up and DD has given me a shock by slamming the balcony door extra hard Grin Passive aggressive, us? No...

VioletBow · 02/08/2018 20:54

@Pinkyponkcustard they are women who get paid to perform Sex acts on themselves on the internet 😬

Each to their own but I'd rather not see or hear it, it's even worse for my friend who lives next door and can hear them through the walls Envy(again not envy)

CocktailQueenie · 02/08/2018 21:00

Oh Violet, I am shocked! I thought they may be a kind of musical theatre type of performer or something - scurrying back to my safe place now....

Pinkyponkcustard · 02/08/2018 21:04

Noooooooooooo!!!

What in real life!!!!

Pinkyponkcustard · 02/08/2018 21:06

Lakie - you need to put a sock or condom on the wind chimes Wink

CocktailQueenie · 02/08/2018 21:07

Anyway, right now loud-voiced neighbour who is at least 80ft away is currently having a conversation in the spirit of a Dom Joly sketch shouting into that huge mobile.... The other night he and his musical family decided to give the neighbourhood an impromptu singsong at 11pm on Tuesday! In the end I did shout at them to turn it down as some of us had to work in the morning - it worked as silence followed. But really, should we have to ask? Tempted to knock on his door at 6am when I leave for work, just to give him a rendition of my Material Girl!

My neighbours kids are 5 and 7. Can't drive into my driveway, hang the washing out or, god-forbid, be present in my garden in any way without them pestering me incessantly. I don't mind saying hello but the constant chatter is so annoying. Parents must enjoy the break.

At the sign of a glint of sunshine my neighbour gets his garden power tools out and uses them from dawn till dusk.
Strimming
Chainsawing
Water blasting
And then the fucking bastard leaf blower for 6 hours

Every. Single. Sunny. Weekend.

If it's not that then he tinkers with a broken boat in his driveway while listening to awful radio stations at top volume. This craft has never seen a body of water as far as I can tell and never will.

All the while he and his wife bellow at each other over the racket.

They are retired so there's no reason this can't happen on a sodding weekday

The other neighbour up the road does the same but throw in a bloody wood chipper for good measure. That's a lovely sound.

Many garden lunches and relaxing G&T's ruined.

VioletBow · 02/08/2018 21:17

My house is higher up than theirs as well so my windows look down on to theirs, if that makes sense?

A couple of months back not long after they had moved in, I went to shut my bedroom curtains and saw one of them completely starkers playing with herself, a massive light with and umbrella in front like photographers have and a huge flat screen with some horrible bloke having his way with himself EnvyEnvyEnvyEnvy (really really not envy)

My friends husband knocked the next day to tell them to close the blinds as there are several young children in the surrounding houses 🙄

Pinkyponkcustard · 02/08/2018 21:19

Cocktail - do it! do it! do it!

Candace - we lived in a rental a few years ago where the landlords dad lived next door and was always peering through the wood knots in the fence at us and asking nosy questions!

schmoozypoo · 02/08/2018 21:20

My neighbour blows his nose so loud I can hear it will the windows open at the front of the house when he is at the back of his.

ChanandlerBongsNeighbour · 02/08/2018 21:25

Our middle aged neighbour on one side (terrace) LOVES to play loud music during the day in her kitchen. Currently Sam Smith on repeat. DH working from home and it's driving him nuts! Grin
