Ok it looks good on tv but they must have to do re takes and it's probably a really long evening.

Also no-one EVER looks at the camera - I'm sure they're told not to but I'd be soooooooo tempted to give the odd sarcastic look at the audience! Lol.

Anyone have any behind the scenes secrets?

I haven't seen a celeb version for a while.

PerfectlySymmetricalButtocks · 02/08/2018 06:56

I shouldn't have read this thread. I feel very disillusioned.

VanillaSugar · 02/08/2018 06:57

What's FIAB?

PerfectlySymmetricalButtocks · 02/08/2018 07:42

I remember that Lapin. 😭 I was ridiculously sad for someone I'd never met.

PerfectlySymmetricalButtocks · 02/08/2018 07:47

There was the man with music themed dishes. Dave Lamb and I obviously have the same kind of mind, as I sang: "Eton Trifle! Eton Trifle!" at exactly the same time as he did! I had visions of millions of people singing in unison around the UK!

Thegirlinthefireplace · 02/08/2018 07:48

Vanillasugar fiab is Four in a Bed

Chalady · 02/08/2018 07:57

I loved this show, but hate the repeats.

Murine · 02/08/2018 08:01

DH and I saw Chris Bush (who is now a very successful playwright: en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chris_Bush_(playwright)) working in York’s Chocolate Experience and were too star struck to approach them! We used to be huge fans of the show.

Sadik · 02/08/2018 08:11

" Even though I believe they are different production companies they keep your details and pass them around (pre-GDPR!) hence why I think you see a lot of the same people on these reality shows,"

So true. I used to live in an intentional community / commune, and we got so many tv shows ringing us up to try to recruit us for shows. They never seemed to get the message that we were only interested if they were going to pay Grin (which one did - long time ago but IIRC I think something like £3k to be the base for their show over 2 long weekends, so well worth the hassle/biased portrayal). Except Blue Peter - we were all happy for the kids to be on that!

StripySocksAndDocs · 02/08/2018 08:22

Love CDWM. Though it's been an age since I've watched it religiously, so haven't seen a full series for a long time.

Don't think the repeats help either; at this point I'm no sure what I've seen and what I haven't.

Do recognise a lot of ones mentioned on here, bar the Princess Pippa one: will look it up!!!

StripySocksAndDocs · 02/08/2018 08:36

The celeb one I recall is where two of them threw wine at each other. One was being rude about the others music and then got really stroppy that he'd got wine thrown at him (after he'd also chucked wine). Neither were the host.

Can't recall who they were though - dispite the celebrity part.

SavvySaver24 · 02/08/2018 08:47

I am loving the Couples versions on 4oD!

DSHathawayGivesMeFannyGallops · 02/08/2018 08:59

That's interesting about the same people on different shows. I've wondered if that's the case, as if you Google Gogglebox, a few of them have been on other tv shows & were obviously known to the company/C4 before hand.

PerfectlySymmetricalButtocks · 02/08/2018 09:07

I remember the celeb footballer special. That was a huge plate of pasta Razor Ruddock served up. I was very amused that even his girlfriend called him Razor!

longwayoff · 02/08/2018 09:19

I don't like the couples version much. It does have a high Hyacinth Bucket rating - good, but the couples? I'm not sure what I don't like but have found most of them uninteresting. Whereas I'm riveted by the partnerships on FIAB. Is it just me?

GabsAlot · 02/08/2018 11:27

gogglebox families are given the shows to watch theyh film all day and asked to commenton them but it looks like theyre all sat down of an evening watching normally

thats why sometimes they ooh and ahh when something they havent seen for ages is on they dont even know whats going to be shown

TellMeItsNotTrue · 02/08/2018 13:56

Does anyone remember the one where a man was hosting and had cheese in his pocket while he was cooking to warm it up? Envy totally turned my stomach watching it!

DSHathawayGivesMeFannyGallops · 02/08/2018 14:00

@longwayoff - yes! I am hooked on the couple dynamics on FIAB! The more Hyacinthy the better. I think it's because they're so obviously riding for a fall.

Todamhottoday · 02/08/2018 14:16

Better in the early days for me. it was about the cooking then and skill, now its can be a bit dare I say trashy? But surprised that the crew really do try and create conflict.

Woman who I worked with was on it about 10 years ago and won, then another woman who I worked with was on four in a bed (love it) about 6 months ago and she won!

Both from the same area a s well.

RevRichardWayneGaryWayne · 02/08/2018 14:24

Am I the only one who pretends they're being commentated on by Dave Lamb when they're cooking?! Grin

StripySocksAndDocs · 02/08/2018 14:32

Ooh RevRichardWayneGaryWayne, I have an awful lot of alternative universies going on in my head, but I've not done that. Tonight's dinner preparation will be fun!!!

DSHathawayGivesMeFannyGallops · 02/08/2018 17:02

@Todamhottoday- who! I want to rewatch!

FiestaThenSiesta · 02/08/2018 17:13

Anyone remembers Salvo, and his Robert DeNiro impression to the Sicilian fish?

StripySocksAndDocs · 02/08/2018 17:26

Hadn't seen Salve before. He got a lot into his night didn't he!!

SchadenfreudePersonified · 02/08/2018 18:12

I enjoyed the first few series when it was actually about cooking and entertaining.

Same here - and there were some lovely people on the show - whether dukes or dustmen, they were welcoming, friendly and kind to one another. There were people who lived in council tower blocks and others who had stately times, but they were all lovely and all gave genuine comments and marks (or seemed to).

Then is became a way of getting your 15 minutes of fame and it just got stupid with people vying to see who could be the most obnoxious/ eccentric/ just plain horrible in every respect.

Stopped watching a while ago.
