She ate all my muffins

I know this is a petty problem but it’s really starting to annoy me.

My DS conveniently comes round my house around lunch time and drops hints she wants me to make her some lunch “oh, I’m starving!” Blah blah blah. That alone I think is cheeky as I wouldn’t go round hers and hint, I’d just pop to the shop and get myself something if she didn’t nicely offer which she rarely does!

She’s done this numerous times so my annoyance is a build up...

I gave in and said there’s some avocado that needs using up and you can have one of the breakfast muffins with it.

I pop out to run some errands and I come back and all the muffins are gone.

I’m annoyed because we just bought the pack yesterday and were looking forward to eating them! I offered her food when I didn’t really want to due to her coming round and expecting all the time.

AIBU to think it’s rude to be offered a little snack then eat the whole lot?

YANBU but it's a lesson learned. Next time she hints you can suggest she pops to co-op and gets a meal deal.

How many muffins?! 4 or 6? Either way that’s madness and it sounds like she has some kind of binge eating prpblem.

Maybe she actually stole the muffins to eat later as she is struggling as some PP have said? I just can’t believe someone could eat a full pack of muffins in one go...

I believe it OP. Half the time my sister is in my fridge before she's even sat down Hmm she lives with our mum who does the food shopping and mum doesn't buy enough treats for her liking. She's an adult.

Meh. It’s a bit rude. She must have been starving to eat the whole lot?! Still, it’s a 75p pack of muffins. My sister. Couldn’t be bothered to argue about it. Why do you both go to each others houses and ‘drop hints’ about lunch? Just ask?

How old is she? Are we talking typically ravenous teen, or is she 34 or something? If she's young and basically seeing you as a kind of mum figure, then she is acting like your kid in your house. Mine will still denude the fridge in seconds! It's like locusts. Have a word - she can't just eat everything, you have a family food budget, and she isn't planned into it. Then maybe create a 'snack cupboard' with cheap, own brand crisps, biscuits etc for when she comes round. She still gets fed, but it doesn't impact your meal planning.

If she's an adult, then you need to just ask her what on earth she thought she was doing!

Why can't you just make her a sandwich or let her make one herself. It's only a couple of slices of bread and a bit of filling? I wouldn't care if my sister kept coming round and asking for food but then again we are close. I take it you are not so close?

Not only go round hers, but go further than hint. Raid her fridge.

I suppose children always think of their parent's home as their own home too, but I do think it's cheeky of her and you need to impose boundaries.

Ups, sorry, sister, not DS (which is normally son), but I read the OP as daughter because of the "she".

Still, raid her fridge when you go to hers. Do it every other day for a couple of weeks.
