We've been planning to do a last minute holiday I.e. We're going on Monday. We were planning on booking it tonight. Together. My one condition was that it wasn't in Devon. Nothing wrong with Devon, it's just we've been about 6 times in the last 5 years. We've done everything there is to do there.

He's just come in from work and said it's all booked. We're going to fucking DEVON. Again. He's also spent twice as much as we'd agreed to spend. I found some lovely holidays in Wales, Isle of Wight etc. But no, we're going to the same bloody place again.

AIBU to be annoyed?

YANBU. You agreed budget and location (where not) and he ignored both of them.

RhubarbRhubarbRhubarbRhubarb · 30/06/2018 18:56

Yanbu, that’s so annoying. Will you even be able to enjoy it? What a waste of money if not.

OliviaStabler · 30/06/2018 18:56

YANBU

Assuming it cannot be changed?

I'd your dh one of these people who go back to the same places each year?

Rubyslippers7780 · 30/06/2018 18:59

Tell him you've already booked Wales and see what his reaction is.

Ataliecalm · 30/06/2018 19:01

I would be fuming too. Does he normally just ignore what you want? I wouldn't go if you are not going to enjoy it. I like to explore new places, not keep going back to the same place again and again. Go to the Isle of Wight without him, it's lovely!

RedHelenB · 30/06/2018 19:02

YABU as you should have have spooked the together

trojanpony · 30/06/2018 19:02

Yanbu I would tell him you have booked something too and see what he says

I would also refuse to go no matter what on principle

He knew you didn’t want go go and he thought “fuck you hufflepuff”.
by booking has basically pissed all over your wishes

grumpy4squash · 30/06/2018 19:03

Tell him you're not going. End of.

StopPOP · 30/06/2018 19:03

What an arse thing to do Angry

SilverHairedCat · 30/06/2018 19:04

I'd be livid. Can it be cancelled?

Figgygal · 30/06/2018 19:05

Yup kill the bastard
Where in Devon?

timeisnotaline · 30/06/2018 19:05

I’d be royally pissed off. He had one requirement. ONE.

SugarIsAmazing · 30/06/2018 19:07

Is he a bit stoopid?
I'm guessing it's too late to change it Confused

eggcellent · 30/06/2018 19:08

What is his justification for going entirely against your one wish? I'd flip a lid.

Returnofthesmileybar · 30/06/2018 19:08

Oh this would give me the rage!!!! I honestly don't think i'd go, I know I'd definitely threatened not to

SoddingUnicorns · 30/06/2018 19:09

I’m always stunned when I read that one partner/spouse has made a really big decision affecting both partners/spouses without discussing it first?

It’s just bloody rude!

I’d book a holiday for yourself OP and let him get on with his!

WatchingFromTheWings · 30/06/2018 19:10

I'd refuse to go. My ExH was like this but with Cornwall. Nothing wrong with Cornwall, but Every. Fucking. Year???

He'd insist on going, would rule out every other suggestion and sulk till he got his way. Best thing was, he didn't even drive so it was all down to me. Then he'd be arsy about the fact I was bloody knackered after driving all the way there myself (we were minimum 5 hour drive away, assuming we stayed at the top end).

First family holiday with new DP after I divorced ExH was Scotland! Grin

Lemoncordial · 30/06/2018 19:10

He's an idiot.

Shumpalumpa · 30/06/2018 19:11

Is it a hotel or holiday rental? Can you cancel is it non-refundable?

PragmaticWench · 30/06/2018 19:11

Did he want his arse handed to him on a plate?

Please tell me this is what you did, and you didn't just take it?!

ThinkingCat · 30/06/2018 19:14

How did he justify ignoring you?

snewname · 30/06/2018 19:14

Such a lack of respect for you and your opinions. How will you handle this op?

itsgoodtobehome · 30/06/2018 19:17

I was expecting to come on here and say you were BU and isn’t that lovely that he had booked a holiday for you. But the fact the he went against what you had already agreed would really annoy me. So YANBU. I would cancel.

Frogletmamma · 30/06/2018 19:17

Get him to take you for a boozy (for you) lunch in a posh restaurant in Padstow, Cornwall. After the nightmare drive he won't do it again.
