Who is right here? (clue, it is me!)

MNers, please settle a (lighthearted!) argument by saying I am right obvs Grin

DH have a thing where if we are watching a film or hear a song we each guess which year it was from and whoever is closest "wins" (I can't believe I'm actually writing this Blush)

Currently watching Bill and Ted's Excellent Adventure (even more embarrassing BlushGrin). DH said 1986. I guessed it was made in 1991. (DH insists that I add here he then said "no it was the 80s"...)

So who was closer? I maintain I am as I was two years away whilst DH was three years away. He maintains he is right as he said 80s whilst I said a date in the 90s.

So settle argument for us, please. We are currently not being excellent to each other Grin

Definitely 90s as I remember seeing it and was just a wee teen when I did!

outofmydepth45 · 24/06/2018 18:43

Closest wins DP can't pick a range!

DickensianHysteric · 24/06/2018 18:43

You are right. Hope that helps, MrClearlyWrong. Grin

Idontevencareanymore · 24/06/2018 18:44

Ah no! It was 1989 so he's right! Sorry!

Sleepless123456789 · 24/06/2018 18:44

It was 1989 - you're right, unless you were guessing the decade - although then presumably he'd have said 80s and u would have said 90s rather than specific years

Justpick · 24/06/2018 18:44

You’re right. Obvs! Grin

Hygge · 24/06/2018 18:44

We had this exact same discussion and looked and the film is 1989.

We're watching it now.

Eminybob · 24/06/2018 18:44

I’m actually pretty sure it was very late 80’s, possibly 89.

Eminybob · 24/06/2018 18:45

X posted with the world!

mussie · 24/06/2018 18:45

Yours is closest, you are right. CF, trying to swing it with a decade range...

Changenameday · 24/06/2018 18:46

Tie break with Bogus Journey ;)

DHIsClearlyWrong · 24/06/2018 18:46

Shit I left out the relevant info that it was actually made in 1989 and that's why we are arguing Grin

Thanks for replies so far, I knew I was right Wink

The fact that this is an argument has saddened me. Forget this debate and remember the philosophy of "be excellent to each other"

Then party on dudes.

DHIsClearlyWrong · 24/06/2018 18:47

And we definitely weren't guessing in decades, but specific years. Therefore I am right. Obvs.

Party on dudes!!

I like you user Grin** Great minds party on!

You, you definitely you...Gold star OP Grin

TheDishRanAwayWithTheSpoon · 24/06/2018 18:48

Your right because your closest! Obviously, otherwise let's say in was made in 1980 you could say 79 and your Dh 89, and he would be right which is clearly ridiculous. Or you could say 1899 and your dh 1999 and if it was 1901 using your the method he would be more right.

Jog22 · 24/06/2018 18:48

You're right. Also thanks that you're indoors on this lovely day because I'm watching it too feeling hungover and a bad mother.

TellsEveryoneRealFacts · 24/06/2018 18:50

You are both right. You got the closest year, he got the decade.

Now shake hands and don't be medieval dickweeds.

TodaysFishIsTroutALaCreme · 24/06/2018 18:55

He is VVVVVU

1980 is the 80s but doesn't mean it is closer just because it's in the same decade

DHIsClearlyWrong · 24/06/2018 18:55

TheDish thank you! I have just had the following exchange based on your logic...(The Shining was made in 1980)

Me: "So for example, The Shining. If I said it was 1979 and you said 1989 would you be right then based on your logic as your decade was correct even though you were miles out and I was obviously closer?"
DH "But I wouldn't say it was 1989 as I know it was 1980. Clearly everyone would actually know The Shining was 1980"

This is what I'm up against!

Is this not what google /IMDb is for Hmmtook more time to post a thread in here

DHIsClearlyWrong · 24/06/2018 18:58

Foof well surely you could read TWFT Hmm or even, you know, not waste your own time commenting when you have misunderstood...

OP posts:
DHIsClearlyWrong · 24/06/2018 18:59

"Read TWFT"? Do I mean RTFT? Blush

Hygge · 24/06/2018 18:59

They're making a new Bill and Ted.

We just looked because we couldn't think of anything else Alex Winter was in other than the Bill and Ted films and The Lost Boys.

And it said that Bill and Ted Face The Music is in pre-production now.
