Anyone had it done? I'm considering getting a lip and nose ringSmile

I had my nose pierced 12 years ago and lip 10 years. I've never been tempted to take them out. Even when I removed them when I was in labour as I was at risk of needing a c section I still made time to get them back in as soon as possible.
Not sure my face would feel them same without them.

WTFnnoh · 24/06/2018 11:25

I have my lip and nose pierced. The easiest of all my piercings (I have a lot of ear piercings). Lip healed up super fast, just occasionally over the first year it would randomly swell up and be a little painful but nothing horrendous and has been fine since that initial year.

One word of warning. They’ll put a longer bar in to accommodate swelling while the lip heals. Make sure as soon as it’s all healed up you go back and have them switch it for a shorter bar. I didn’t and the number of times I have accidentally bit down on it and chipped my tooth is ridiculous.

GrannyGrissle · 24/06/2018 11:41

Yes i've had a lip piercing central bottom lip, vertical bottom lip a Medusa and a Madonna at various times. What do you want to know?!

HonestTeacher · 24/06/2018 11:43

I had my lip pierced about 10 years ago. It was my favourite piercing and did not hurt to get done. Unfortunately I had to take it out for work 8 years ago. The scar is still just below my lip and never healed properly.

tripYouOut · 24/06/2018 12:22

Are you asking if it looks awful or if it's painful or if it will have an effect on your chances of employment?

Paranoixia · 24/06/2018 12:24

Looks awful and chavvy in my opinion, but it's your life and your body.

What are you asking for?

LankinMcElf · 24/06/2018 12:25

I have no problem with body piercings apart from the nose ones that go through the septum, I can’t even look at them 🤢!

MsHopey · 24/06/2018 12:32

I've got my nose done which i got with a gun at a market stall when I was 13. I know it's classed as an infection breeding grounds these days, but I don't remember anyone caring 13 years ago. Never had any trouble with it and I've never really taken it out.
All 3 of my lip piercings I did myself with a needle when I was 15 (a few months between each one) they did hurt, but a sewing needle probably wasn't a good idea. I used to have to take them out at school and then for work as I've gotten older, they did heal fast, but after years of pushing the stud back through a partially healed hole means they don't heal at all now.
Also now I'm a 26yo SAHM I never take them out and love them as much as I did when I first go them.
But on a side note i have both nipples, 6 in the top of my ears, 4 normal piercings at the bottom and 2 16mm flesh tunnels. So pretty into my piercings anyway.

I have both lip and nose. Had both done in my teens (late 20s now) and only take them out for operations, otherwise they are permanent fixtures.

I remember my nose took longer to heal than my lip but in comparison to other piercings they were both easy enough and have never caused me any trouble.

Piercinglip · 24/06/2018 12:45

Sorry, asking if it's painful and about the healing process.

Tbh I'm in two minds whether I should have my lip done, but I'm 100% certain I will have my nose down.

@LankinMcElf you mean the nose piercing?

I have a lip piercing which I took out and never wore again about 14 years ago - unfortunately for me the hole is still there and I can't seem to find any foundation that will cover it.

19lottie82 · 24/06/2018 12:47

I had my lip (central lower) and nose pierced when I was younger. I do miss my lip piercing, but I think @ 35 I’m a bit old for it now Sad

Lethaldrizzle · 24/06/2018 12:47

I really dislike facial piercings

RedFin · 24/06/2018 12:52

I loved my lip piercing. Had a little stud. Wasn't too sore but I did catch the bar on my teeth a few times. By the end though the little ball kept falling off which was a bit annoying. Go for it!

NukaColaGirl · 24/06/2018 12:56

I have a medusa, a vertical labret and a septum. 32. Had them done last year - I’m about to start Uni so it doesn’t really matter what my face looks like.

NukaColaGirl · 24/06/2018 12:57

Medusa healed with almost zero pain as did the vertical labret.

LankinMcElf · 24/06/2018 13:03

Yes Pircinglip I’m ok with the side of the nostril but the ring that looks like a bull’s ring makes me queasy, sorry!

BE18mum · 24/06/2018 13:06

I had three lip piercings over the years and would second WTF’s comment about the bar - I took mine out in the end as I’d chipped my tooth and one of them was rubbing against my gum, making it recede lower down the tooth. I took them out years ago and the holes are still visible if that’s something that bothers you?

That said, I loved having them in and they never caused me any issues in terms of infection, etc. Healed pretty quickly, too.

I never dared get my nose done as I get hay fever so didn’t expect I’d get on well with it.

Over the years I’ve had lip, tongue, ear and nipple piercings, plus various microdermals and lips were easiest to take care of (minus the tooth issue).

PickleJuice · 24/06/2018 13:10

I have a nose ring, but it's fourth time lucky. This one has been in and perfect for nearly 5 years all the others ended in disaster. Not particularly painful to have done though.

Had a lip ring but took it out after a few years. Can still see the hole even though I've not had anything in it for about 10 years. Not very painful either. Not compared to the triple helix that's refusing to heal. Or my rook. That hurt, a lot.

AnduinsGirl · 24/06/2018 13:11

I really dislike facial piercings
Probably not the right thread for you then.
OP I've had a nose piercing for 15 years and it's never given me the slightest bit of bother, even during hay fever times. Nor has it hindered me professionally. Never had a lip piercing though.

Fluffypinkpyjamas · 24/06/2018 13:13

I agree para awful indeed!

19lottie82 · 24/06/2018 13:14

My lip stud did chip my two upper front teeth, but after I took it out my NHS dentist fixed them for about £20.

plingly · 24/06/2018 13:28

Had my lip pierced when I was 16 and kept my lip ring in til I was about 22. Loved it but unfortunately in my field of work it's a no go. 10 years later I can still see the hole but it doesn't really bother me.

NeverLovedElvis · 24/06/2018 13:33

I've had 2- Madonna and labret. Had to take them out as they were causing gum erosion.

Cornettoninja · 24/06/2018 13:41

I think they can look lovely (I like a subtle sparkle) but as well as the dental points could I point out to be conscious of eating with one?

I’ve only ever seen one person do this but she slurped on her piercing every time she took a bite and it was revolting. Put me off having one done (I’ve had my tongue, eyebrow, nose and various points on my ear over the years).
