To ask for really silly things that made you love your DP

Silly, not at all romantic things your DP/DH whatever has done that made you feel a rush of love for them.

Mine is really weird not sorry

I thought I had worms yesterday.
As well as several other health issues that have been making me miserable. Retrospectively I think I was overreacting but we have all medicated in case. When we turned off Netflix to go to sleep he (like he does every night) said "Night night honey, love you" and I said night night honey, love you too" and he patted my tummy and said night night Jims.

As in, EARTHWORM JIM (cartoon from the 90s that I loved). Not only did it help me get over the sheer embarassment at having to text him at work that I might have wot, and was feeling miserable and gross about it all day, he just cheered me right up and I had to grab his face and give him a big kiss.

Oh and when I was ill and asked him to get me something nice from the shop and he bought me fish fingers "because he has never seen me sad whilst eating a fish finger sandwich
"
Has your DP ever done anything stupid that really cheered you up?

When I was first pregnant with ds (dh's pfb) he made me a basket of snacks /drinks to keep in my car for when I was at work every day!! All healthy too!!

SoddingUnicorns · 07/06/2018 20:06

He found out that a client at work didn’t have heating or hot water in the dead of winter, so drove for 9 hours at night to deliver heaters and an urn. Because he didn’t listen to his boss who said an elderly man with cancer would “just have to wait”.

Sallystyle · 07/06/2018 20:13

When I first met him he had amazing Diesel shoes on. I have a bit of a shoe thing going on and he always picks the best ones.

I could list all the lovely things he does but you asked for silly Grin

wildbhoysmama · 07/06/2018 20:13

He has the most ridiculous faces he puts on when he is being one of the 5 or so characters we have created over the years. Nothing creepy/ sexy or anything, just hugely silly characters the kids laugh at too.
Best one ever is a blanket over his head with glasses over the top and he sings ' What can you do with a drunken sailor' for no reason whatsoever.

walkingwithmyeyeswideshut · 07/06/2018 20:16

Everytime he answers the phone to me.. He pretends he's a take away shop in a silly, Chinese, Indian or whatever voice saying the name of the places we order from

He also does this when my BF calls me to wind her up

Hamandcheesebaguette · 07/06/2018 20:18

These are quite sweet! I'm glad I'm not the only one who has these weird things ... after I posted I was half expecting "you call each other honey?!" "How is it appropriate to refer to a parasite as a cartoon character" 😂

We were camping as leaders with 20 teenagers and I was heavily pregnant. He got up with me every night when I needed to pee and laced my boots so I wouldn't fall over in the mud on the way to the toilet, and walked with me across the fields no matter the weather or the time.

Jamiefraserskilt · 07/06/2018 20:22

I was having a wobble after a consultation with a particularly direct specialist and he gave me a hug and told me he would look after me when I was crumbly. Ahhh

Hamandcheesebaguette · 07/06/2018 20:25

@jamiefraserskilt awwwwww Grin

When I told him how I had wanted to be a vet when I was younger, he started looking up courses I would be qualified to do with my non-vet degree, how we could afford the fees etc. I told him I'm far too lazy to compelety retrain but it was so nice that he would be so supportive.

maxthemartian · 07/06/2018 20:34

He just got me a Colin the Caterpillar birthday cake Grin

ThistleAmore · 07/06/2018 20:41

My OH isn't just my OH, he's my best friend, and I am madly delighted that he's in my life.

I get annoyed when he leaves his dirty socks in his shoes, and when he asks me where stuff is without looking for it (ARGH!), but he makes me laugh more than anybody and I love him dearly for it.

However, something that really, really makes me smile is secretly watching him eat a chocolate mousse or wee 'treat'-type pudding.

We in our late 30s, both very senior in our careers and enjoy the trappings that that brings, but he grew up poor, and has never forgotten it, I don't think. Watching him enjoy 'wee treats' (like a chocolate mousse) and the tiny half-smile on his face when he does so almost makes my heart burst out of my chest for him.

He also never had pets as a child (too poor), and the love he lavishes on our cats and the way they reciprocate it (he is basically Dr Dolittle) is adorable.

I knew that he was a keeper when I rang him in a panic from work and asked him to drop my washbag in on his way to the office. I had had a unexpected period flood and the washbag contained pads and wet wipes.

He turns up to work with my washbag, a huge bar of chocolate, a packet of pants, a varied selection of pads and a new pair of trousers from Asda. And a fluffy rabbit toy.

Now sanitary procrection is referred to as bunnies in this house and all he needs is a text with an initial as to which female in the house needs pads - ie 'bunnies M'

UnbornMortificado · 07/06/2018 20:52

He shaved his beard, even though he knew this meant his razor could be confiscated and indeed was.

theotherendofthesockportal · 07/06/2018 21:03

He is a crazy cat man. Which is good, because I'm a crazy cat woman.

cheshiremama89 · 07/06/2018 21:10

When my DH came back from the supermarket with every tampon option available as "he didn't know what size my vagina was"

When he baked me a birthday cake with plain flour instead of self raising and it looked like a giant scone, he then proceeded to decorate and carefully transport for our weekend away

Pinkyponkcustard · 07/06/2018 21:14

I moved away from my friends and family to live with dp. I remember one night in the early days he said to me “any time day or night you want to go home I will take you”

I never needed him to but always remembered him saying that to me (he’d only just passed his test too)

GrandTheftWalrus · 07/06/2018 21:23

Loads of things. Makes daft faces at me to cheer me up.

Brought my lunch to work after a 12 hour night shift because I had no money and had forgotten mine.

Gets me wee surprises all the time.

chickenchip · 07/06/2018 21:30

I'm heavily pregnant with a very high risk pregnancy and struggle to sleep and end up waking him up at 3am for a cuddle and a cry. Even though he has to get up for work he will always come give me a hug and soothe me to sleep.

He also massages my giant balloon feet every evening Smile

mimibunz · 07/06/2018 21:35

He gives me a back rub every night as we are falling asleep. Bless him, then he snores the house down.

SlackerMum1 · 07/06/2018 21:38

Whenever I ask him for a favour he always says no.... on the basis it’s not a ‘favour’ I don’t get ‘favours’ these things are just his job and things he’s wants to do

sadeyedladyofthelowlandsea · 07/06/2018 21:53

His feet. He helped me get a washing machine down my ridiculously narrow and winding spiral staircase, but insisted on taking his boots off, so he didn't leave any dirt on my new carpets, despite me begging him to keep them on.

The sight of him bearing most of the weight of the machine, knowing that if I slipped or let go of the sack barrow it'd fall and crush his feet nearly killed me. I almost well up every time I think of his vulnerable trainer socked toes within inches of becoming flippers... for the sake of my cheap, crappy carpet.

Littlecaf · 07/06/2018 21:56

DP has always been happy to buy tampons, breast pads, condoms etc but I knew he really loved me when I had D&V and he rubbed my back while I puked over the side of the bed. This was 10 years ago and he recently did it again, except sat on the floor of the bathroom while I was sick in the loo.

NakedBrainStrollingInManhatten · 07/06/2018 22:00

He gives me a kiss every night when we gets home from work every night so that I don't have bad dreams.

Apparently I always wake up from a nightmare on the nights he doesn't give me a kiss. I only found this out last week because his stupid 2am kiss woke me up and I told him off for waking me.

He phones me every week night at 8pm so he can goodnight to dd and listen to the bedtime story.

Fluffyears · 07/06/2018 23:06

He kisses my head before we go to sleep so I know ‘I matter’ we have also made up back stories for all our neighbours that are absolutely outlandish. One is narrated by the neighbours dog ‘you really want to check his car boot!’ Etc
