To ask for really silly things that made you love your DP

Silly, not at all romantic things your DP/DH whatever has done that made you feel a rush of love for them.

Mine is really weird not sorry

I thought I had worms yesterday.
As well as several other health issues that have been making me miserable. Retrospectively I think I was overreacting but we have all medicated in case. When we turned off Netflix to go to sleep he (like he does every night) said "Night night honey, love you" and I said night night honey, love you too" and he patted my tummy and said night night Jims.

As in, EARTHWORM JIM (cartoon from the 90s that I loved). Not only did it help me get over the sheer embarassment at having to text him at work that I might have wot, and was feeling miserable and gross about it all day, he just cheered me right up and I had to grab his face and give him a big kiss.

Oh and when I was ill and asked him to get me something nice from the shop and he bought me fish fingers "because he has never seen me sad whilst eating a fish finger sandwich
"
Has your DP ever done anything stupid that really cheered you up?

DH works a physical job, long hours. In early pregnancy he'd ring me every day on his way home to see if I needed OJ (my only craving) and would detour to get me some. He'd come home and cook and wash up whilst I laid on the sofa feeling rubbish. I wasn't even vomiting just nausea and feeling horrendous but he sorted everything.

When I cry he tells me I'm doing an amazing job if this pregnancy business and never gets annoyed by the truly ridiculous things I can currently cry at!

One day overdue now and I know he's going to be the most amazing birth partner.

WalkingOnAFlashlightBeam · 09/06/2018 09:43

When we first got together I was just coming out of a really stressful time of my life and hadn’t been eating (no appetite at all). He was quite keen to get me eating again, and we developed this weird in joke about black widow spiders where the female will eat the male after sex. So when he came round in the first few months he’d always bring snacks and sit them on the bedside table, under the pretence that they were a replacement for him so I could eat them and not him 😂 and every time we had sex after we’d snuggled he’d reach across and grab some of the snacks and kinda pass it to me warily hoping I’d accept and eat it and then he’d know he was safe for another night lol.

Sounds ridiculous but it was so cute how every time he came round he’d bring food.

CaptainCabinets · 09/06/2018 14:38

Oh this thread! 😍

Mine makes up voices and life stories for any spider that appears in our house (I don’t like spiders at all!) and then has a conversation with me as the spider.

We had a bad patch just over a year ago but I’ve never loved him as much as I do now, and every day I just love him more. ❤️

Thank you for starting this, OP!

CaptainCabinets · 09/06/2018 14:39

Oh gosh! And he’s just this minute text me saying “I love you so much, you give me the fuzzies”

Brb going to cry with love and happiness

FoodGloriousFud · 09/06/2018 20:11

Bump! Cos I love this thread!

QuitMoaning · 09/06/2018 20:25

I went to his work to see him and borrowed the only toilet. Whilst in there I had a sudden and unexpected bottom explosion and whilst I cleaned it all up, it smelled rank. I came out looking quite traumatised and then a member of staff came to use the toilet. He announced in a large voice “I wouldn’t go in there, I have just been for a long sit down and it was a good un”.

He took the blame and I have never forgotten this.

Polarbearflavour · 09/06/2018 20:30

He pretends to be a walrus!

Hamandcheesebaguette · 09/06/2018 20:33

@quitmoaning

I think that might be the most not romantic romantic thing I've ever heard!!!!

Every morning he makes me tea in a travel mug, and gets my lunch and breakfast packed for me. When I broke my arm years ago, he washed my hair every day

katmarie · 09/06/2018 21:21

My dh has made up a whole secret life for our dog, she's apparently a member of the French resistance, and goes out all night on secret missions to defeat the Germans, it's very elaborate, and very funny, and doing wonders for my rusty French!

When I was pregnant and struggling badly with nausea, the only thing that helped was ginger biscuits. He stashed them all over the house, in my car, mu handbag, everywhere. Ds is 4 months old now and I'm still finding ginger biscuit stashes.

When I walked down the aisle at our wedding and got to the bottom, I was a wreck, and almost burst into tears, it was so overwhelming. My dad gave me a kiss and shook Dh hand, and I struggled to keep it together, until Dh made me laugh, by demanding he get a kiss from my dad too. Totally diffused the emotions and calmed me down, which I desperately needed!

The other day I'd put all of our bath towels in the washing machine, and for various reasons there was only one bath towel and one hand towel left. I went to have my shower after him, and found a perfectly dry bath towel and a soaking wet hand towel, he'd left the bigger one for me, and used the little one for himself. He's just the most ridiculously kind sweet person, he puts me, and now ds, before his own wants every single time. He's just fab :)

SerenDippitty · 09/06/2018 21:38

He went and did the weekly shop last week while I met a friend for lunch, and bought me a lovely plant.

LutherRalph1 · 09/06/2018 21:40

I'm breastfeeding of a night and he brings me an ice filled bottle of water every night, which sounds little but is actually a godsend

Dizzylin · 09/06/2018 21:54

When my Grandad died (before we were married) my DH dropped everything at work and came straight to me, it was the first time anybody had come through for me like that and made me realise how much he loved me.

He always does silly things to make me laugh. The other day I was in the shower, I came out of the bathroom and he'd drawn a face on a piece of cardboard and put it on my pillow, made me giggle for ages.

He's a big kid really but it's one of the many things I love about him.

Brunsdon1 · 10/06/2018 01:28

My DP is truly one of the most grumpy pains in the backside you will ever meet...to the rest of the world (I love him dearly but am under no illusions whatsoever)

To us though....

He will do anything to make me smile....he this evening cooked me a meal ...went through all the film's (most of which he hates he only likes documentaries) and saved the ones that would make me laugh. He came home yesterday with a record player because I had mentioned I wanted to listen to jazz on one and has extensive plans of where we go to find records. He spent half the day searching for classical and jazz (he thinks I don't know he hates anything but rock but I do)

He will search shops for hours to find DC dinosaurs and trains that they dont have, will find clothes with capes on them because he knows it makes them laugh

He went out especially and walked two miles to get the butter I liked and filled the freezer with bits I and the DC loved

A bit like westly in a princess bride...he always says "if it makes you smile ..."and I know it means I love you

I'm very lucky and I know it

Brunsdon1 · 10/06/2018 01:30

Oh and another small one...he had a bag of chocolate thus evening and would bite half and hand the other to me ...i kept laughing and asked him why (I had my own bag)....and unsurprisingly..."it makes you laugh ..."

FoodGloriousFud · 10/06/2018 15:33

Bumping again!

DragonSnaps · 10/06/2018 16:11

These are so nice!

wanderings · 10/06/2018 17:13

He knows I LOVE receiving presents, so not only do I have the excitement of opening them on my birthday or other occasion, but we have a little ritual for when he wraps them. He'll wrap them in front of me, let me feel them, or take photos of me holding them, sometimes before they're wrapped. Even though I can't see a thing because I'm blindfolded, I love this ritual, and look forward to it as much as opening my prezzies.

SoddingUnicorns · 10/06/2018 17:14

He just did the fake tan on my back because I couldn’t reach Grin

CrumbsInBed · 10/06/2018 18:06

When I first met soon to be dh, I lived on my own.

I had a pretty dodgy toaster that had blue sparks coming off it when I used it, and when he used it himself one day, he threw it in the bin.

Anyway, a couple of days later, he knocked on my flat door.

I opened it to find him holding a toaster in his arms with a big beam on his face, and the biggest brown eyes ever. Awwww..

I did notice, however, that the toaster he bought was a four slicer, as opposed to the two slicer he threw in the bin. Hmmmm, crafty, but it obviously worked as we’ve been married nearly 26 years..😄 🍞🍞

CrumbsInBed · 10/06/2018 18:08

*he was horrified that I used this dangerous toaster, so he threw it in the bin, I should have added.

TarquinGyrfalcon · 10/06/2018 19:23

Every morning he gets up makes me breakfast and them puts all my stuff in the car and opens the gate for me.
He isn't a morning person and is self employed so he could easily stay in bed for another hour as I leave really early.

When we went to the rescue kennels to get a dog he choose the naughtiest, most traumatised and troubled one because he didn't think anyone else would take him. Said dog is now a delight thanks to all the hard work DH has done to earn his trust and train him.

OverwhelmedAndConfused200 · 10/06/2018 19:54

He has voices for all our pets. And has given them all personalities to match. With little sayings and the lot.

We sometimes end up in pretend conversations with them all.

Always makes me giggle.

Lariflete · 10/06/2018 21:39

He took a half day off work when a card machine swallowed my card - because I was in a very bad mental state and he knew that it would calm me down.

He talks to me about his sporting passion and his face lights up with joy - I'm bored stiff with it, nothing about it interests me but when I hear him talk it fills my heart with joy.

He will do anything for me and the DC - DC1 used to wake a lot during the night to feed and every single time he would get up and bring me a glass of iced water.

He is the only person in my life who has routinely put me first and tries to teach me to love myself. I am the luckiest person in the world.

Echobelly · 10/06/2018 22:11

Talking about geeky comic stuff.

Laughing helplessly for about 10 minutes because the cat very lightly touched him with a paw and the tiny bit of 'cat pressure' was ticklish!
