Using NDNs dropped curb

Cleo2628 · 28/05/2018 22:38

Our NDN have a dropped curb but we do not. We’ve enquire but it will be near £1000 which we can’t afford. We moved here last June, and in some notes about the house the previous owner said that she used to neighbors dropped curb to get onto our drive, so we have done the same. Our neighbour had started doing very passive aggresics things eg. blocking my car in with his wheelie bin, parking very far back so we can barely get onto our drive, standing in his porch and watching us reverse off the drive etc. We don’t go onto his drive at all whilst using the dropped curb. I don’t want to annoy anyone but we just use the dropped curb, over the pavement and straight onto our drive. AIBU?

YABU. Pay your way. That IS annoying

Canwejustrelaxnow · 28/05/2018 22:43

I think YABU as the ndn is obviously not happy about it. The notes about previous owner using it might not even be true. Why should they pay a grand and you don't. You'll have to speak to them. I think they've made their feelings clear and you're now being cheeky.

Gazelda · 28/05/2018 22:43

If I were your NDN, I'd be pretty miffed if you merrily used my drive to access yours without first having had a conversation and asked if I minded.

Tiredmumno1 · 28/05/2018 22:43

I think I have read about a similar situation before and it could be because of the wear and tear it could cause over time. I think your NDN would have to pay for any repairs.

I could be completely wrong Grin

siwel123 · 28/05/2018 22:44

YABU.

Pay your way and get it dropped.

beIindaBlinked · 28/05/2018 22:44

Could we have a lovely diagram please :-)

Furano · 28/05/2018 22:44

So you don’t have a drive way. You have a useless paved front yard. Hope you didn’t pay a premium for ‘off street parking’.

Stop using your NdN dropped kerb. Can’t belive you didn’t even ask and just started using it!

overnightangel · 28/05/2018 22:44

Diagram needed

AnneLovesGilbert · 28/05/2018 22:44

I think they’ve made their feelings clear too. The previous owner might have been driving them nuts for years and now you’re potentially doing the same.

Doofenschmirtz · 28/05/2018 22:44

You're using something that you haven't paid for.

You should have checked with the neighbour rather than relying on notes from the previous owner.

YABU

LordNibbler · 28/05/2018 22:45

Are you BU? You honestly have to ask???
Pay for your own drop kerb. No one likes a free loader. Jeez you didn't even ask them if they'd mind.

Prestonsflowers · 28/05/2018 22:46

I’ve only been on MN for a short time but I do know you’ll be asked for a diagram!!
Why don’t you just go and talk to your NDN and explain why you want to use his dropped curb?

Oldraver · 28/05/2018 22:46

If you don't have a dropped curb, then you don't have a drive...simple as.

Prestonsflowers · 28/05/2018 22:47

I’m a very slow at typing 😊

RebootYourEngine · 28/05/2018 22:47

I dont think its a drive unless it has a dropped kerb.

I can’t afford a hot tub so I’m off to use Next door’s.

Hmm
FASH84 · 28/05/2018 22:49

YABU pay for your own access.

Glumglowworm · 28/05/2018 22:49

YABU

what’s with the dropped kerb CFs on here tonight?!

Pay for your own dropped kerb ffs!

AlexanderHamilton · 28/05/2018 22:49

So to access your “drive” you have to go up your neighbours dropped curb then across the pavement?

That’s illegal. If you want to turn your garden into a drive get your own dropped curb.

CluedoAddict · 28/05/2018 22:50

You are being CF's. Pay for your own dropped kerb.

bluerunningshoes · 28/05/2018 22:52

yabu. you don't have a drive.
park in the road until you can get one installed.

SparklySeashell · 28/05/2018 22:52

YABU, and a CF!

It's KERB.
CURB is a verb which means to curtail or nip in the bud.
OP - pay your way you skinflint.
