To feel sorry for Chelsy Davy?

I've seen that meme of her 'unhappy face' going round and all the headlines about it and I just feel so sorry for the poor girl. She and Harry broke up years ago and are obviously just good friends now and in a whole day where there are multiple photos of her smiling, looking happy and hugging the bride, one shot where she happens to not look actively thrilled has been blown out of all proportion.

It promotes this stupid, misogynistic narrative that her life is rubbish because she didn't marry a prince, and that she's regretting all her choices now that she can see the one who got away, when the truth is she's a successful woman living, by all appearances, perfectly happily!

Agree with you. That’s why she didn’t marry him by all accounts isn’t it? She didn’t want the life, and all the press bullshit and scrutiny that comes with it, and this rubbish probably confirms to her that she did the right thing.

GalwayWayfarer · 21/05/2018 18:39

Yes, I though I'd read that too but couldnt remember where or when. Makes it even more unfair for the press to pile on the scrutiny and in a way which is so false!

Probably doing alright for herself. Doubt she gives two farts about what a load of irrelevant people think of her.

GalwayWayfarer · 21/05/2018 18:42

I hope so Forty!

Exactly - and is there any provenance of when exactly during the ceremony that was taken? She could have just been thinking 'my bleeding feet are killing me' or 'I wish this Rev would hurry up'.

soggydigestive · 21/05/2018 18:43

YANBU but saying you feel sorry for her sort of perpetuates it because I'm sure she doesn't need anyone's pity. She has a successful career in her own right iirc.

N0tLinked1n · 21/05/2018 18:43

Bloody typical! she could have expected them to watch her ALL day to get that photo!

AntiHop · 21/05/2018 18:46

Totally agree.

SoWakeUp · 21/05/2018 18:46

I do feel for her. It must've been really annoying as no one knows exactly what went on. They could both have mutually agreed to end things and are now very close friends. She's probably very happy and content.

GalwayWayfarer · 21/05/2018 18:46

soggydigestive yup, she's a jewellery designer. I certainly don't feel sorry for her in general because I'm sure she has a lovely life. But when someone is getting a totally unfair and misrepresentative pasting in the media I don't think sympathy is unreasonable.

I don't feel sorry for her, I admire her. Anyone who marries into that family has to be bonkers. Chelsy had the sense to run.

cherrytrees123 · 21/05/2018 19:00

That is why she didn't want to be a Royal, exactly. Intrusive press interest, lies and manipulation.

soggydigestive · 21/05/2018 19:01

I agree with you about that OP. If she had a problem about the wedding or was sad about it, she wouldn't have gone imo.

Rudgie47 · 21/05/2018 19:10

She wont be bothered about him, she binned him off anyway. Shes good looking and very rich, she can easily get someone miles better than him.

SoFake · 21/05/2018 19:10

I bet she just thinks it’s funny.

Bugjune · 21/05/2018 19:12

Is she not doing law now?

Juells · 21/05/2018 19:14

@Rudgie47

she binned him off anyway

That's so rude :( It's like saying someone was dumped, when they obviously agreed to go their different ways, and remained friends.

Mummyoflittledragon · 21/05/2018 19:15

Poor woman. I saw the idiotic comments and horrible photos.

Yorkshirebetty · 21/05/2018 19:17

He proposed, she turned him down, they both moved on. Cressida Bonas was there too, same story. I'm sure none of them have any regrets and it's nice they're still friends!

AsAProfessionalFekko · 21/05/2018 19:17

At weddings I find that you grin like a Cheshire cat 95% of the time 4% probably thinking 'I need the loo' 'wish I'd worn these shoes on' 'God these knickers are uncomfortable' 'is that vicar ever going to shut up' plus the last 1% stifling giggles.

I imagine she was remembering when they were both teenagers (didn't they meet very young?) and feeling a bit old/grown up.

I'm sure I'd she had a problem she just wouldn't have gone. Wasn't another old flame there too?

AngeloMysterioso · 21/05/2018 19:22

I don’t feel sorry for her. She probably could have married him if she’d wanted to but she didn’t, for very good reason. I’d imagine she was congratulating herself on her escape watching the Markle Family Fiasco unfold last week.

SuperSuperSuper · 21/05/2018 19:24

She declined to marry him but remained a very good friend. That's it, really. The press is being silly.

I tend to like people who are on good terms with their exes. It implies mutually respectful treatment during the relationship and whilst it was failing.

brassbrass · 21/05/2018 19:25

There is a photo of her hugging the bride?! Where how did I not see this?

expatinscotland · 21/05/2018 19:26

He seems like one of those nauseating drips, tbh. Far too gooey. She may feel she is well rid.

Dapplegrey · 21/05/2018 19:26

How does everyone know that Harry proposed to Chelsey and Cressida?
