To feel sorry for Chelsy Davy?

I've seen that meme of her 'unhappy face' going round and all the headlines about it and I just feel so sorry for the poor girl. She and Harry broke up years ago and are obviously just good friends now and in a whole day where there are multiple photos of her smiling, looking happy and hugging the bride, one shot where she happens to not look actively thrilled has been blown out of all proportion.

It promotes this stupid, misogynistic narrative that her life is rubbish because she didn't marry a prince, and that she's regretting all her choices now that she can see the one who got away, when the truth is she's a successful woman living, by all appearances, perfectly happily!

And their invites weren't vetoed by the bride, so I can't see how it was a problem.

The press must've have cameras pointed at her throughout just waiting for a facial expression that could look like 'the one who got away'.

derxa · 21/05/2018 19:32

I wish it had been Chelsy. I love her.

HugeAckmansWife · 21/05/2018 19:32

They kept focusing on her sitting there early on before it began. She looked a bit thoughtful as would be perfectly natural - I've done it too at weddings of long gone ex boyfriends.. It doesn't mean she's jealous or regretful. I haven't seen the twitter stuff but I bloody knew it would happen.. Its too good a spiteful mean bandwagon not to jump on isn't it.

Petalflowers · 21/05/2018 19:35

dapple -I was wondering that also. Chelsy and Cressida must have known what they were getting into when dating Harry.

CoolCarrie · 21/05/2018 19:43

Chelsy is a jewellery designer and is selling her expensive range at the very expensive The Silo Hotel in Cape Town. It’s quite nice, but nothing wonderful.

Yorkshirebetty · 21/05/2018 19:45

Chelsy and Cressida have both spoken about the proposals, and they both said that they didn't want what came with it.

derxa · 21/05/2018 19:48

Poor Harry Sad

expatinscotland · 21/05/2018 19:50

Why 'Poor Harry', he seems quite happy now.

derxa · 21/05/2018 19:54

Imagine having to pluck up courage to propose to two women and they turned you down.

expatinscotland · 21/05/2018 19:55

'Imagine having to pluck up courage to propose to two women and they turned you down.'

If it's true he has got over it and moved on.

Quartz2208 · 21/05/2018 19:57

I thought she looked thoughtful for a moment about what might have been which is normal

I have seen both say they did not want the life not that he actually proposed

StealthPolarBear · 21/05/2018 20:00

She should have turned up in tears and done the wailing and beating at her chest right at the start. Then they'd have gone away pleased and she could have got on with the rest of the day

brassbrass · 21/05/2018 20:01

There is no picture of her hugging the bride!

specialsubject · 21/05/2018 20:05

exes at the wedding? call me old fashioned, but isnt that weird if no kids to tie them?

PookieSnackenberger · 21/05/2018 20:05

She's contemplating her lucky escape. Royal life is a gilded cage and it's well documented that she was uncomfortable with the constant scrutiny.

MM is an actress, enjoys the limelight and is well versed with dealing with the press and media intrusion.

Looks like everyone lucked out.

N0tLinked1n · 21/05/2018 20:06

Did he propose to Cressida Bonas ??
They didn't seem like they were ever that serious

IWouldLikeToKnow · 21/05/2018 20:07

That was a still taken from before the ceremony started. I saw it on tv and thought people were going to make more of it than it likely meant. She was just sitting, there was nothing happening, so should she have sat with a fake smile plastered on, just in case? It's like so many posts here talking about how people were feeling, what they were thinking, just from a snapshot of the day.

MrsFezziwig · 21/05/2018 20:14

Should she have run down the nave to the altar and started singing "It Shoulda Been Me"?

MrsFezziwig · 21/05/2018 20:16

specialsubject you're old-fashioned.
If they parted amicably and remained friends why ever not?

WittyJack · 21/05/2018 20:16

A friend of mine taught her and said she's a lovely girl and very bright.

brassbrass · 21/05/2018 20:16

Are you sure it wasn't photoshopped? How would she have done it before the ceremony? Or do you mean on some other occasion before the wedding?

dinosaurkisses · 21/05/2018 20:21

I saw the memes and thought they were unbelievably misogynistic- it wasn't as if she even looked particularly unhappy, to me that was just a neutral expression!

Fair play to her for showing up knowing that people would be watching her reaction like a hawk. I think that speaks volumes for both CD and PH's maturity that they still like each other well enough to remain good friends.

Rudgie47 · 21/05/2018 20:23

Juells She did dump him, it is what it is.

AntiqueSinger · 21/05/2018 20:26

Did harry actually propose to either? I got the impression with Chelsea that he was playing her around a bit. Cressida never seemed that serious.

LipstickHandbagCoffee · 21/05/2018 20:26

Poor Harry?i think not,he looked pretty loved up and happy.not poor in least
Regards Chelsy, well it was a significant relationship, prob 1st love.but they broke up for whatever reason
