AIBU To think Victoria Beckham is a right mardy, stroppy looking mare. Anybody see the way she was looking out the corner of her eye at the crowds. Not a hint of a smile.

Agree with a PP, she is so lovely in real life and great fun. I've met her a few times through work and then run into her outside of work too. Such a girls' girl that it really bugs me to see other women bitch about her so much.

That's a nice post Luisa. It doesn't surprise me that she comes across as lovely as she did to you whilst out doing her own thing. Whatever reason she has for being serious while being photographed is her business and I for one won't be judging her on it.

I don't go around with an inane grin on my face while I'm out and about and nor should VB if she doesn't want to.

Plus, DB was very rudely striding along too fast and paying no attention to the fact she had heels on and struggling over cobbles.

Maybe that was the morning conversation - "If you insist on wearing those ridiculously high heels when you've got bunions and knackered knees then you'll get no sympathy from me".

I think she is lovely too. I met her once at a party and she was very friendly and interested in everyone. She looked sad yesterday though. I noticed that her and David didn't speak to each other at all as they went into the church.

I can’t agree with the idea that she’s shy and a private person, because the children are plastered all over social media and I feel sorry for them, particularly the younger ones whose daily minutiae of life- going to school, playing etc gets put out there.

BUT at the same time I feel rather sorry for VB because by all accounts from people who’ve met her, she’s quite sweet and funny. She may not be well read or highly educated but she seems to have a sharp brain and is also well regarded as a fashion designer. It must be weird for her to feel that DB is the one who gets all the adoration. At best he’s totally vacuous. At worst if the gossip sites are to be believed, he’s a serial cheater. The only thing he has going over her is looks. It’s a shame VB seems to set so much store on appearances because if she had a bit more self belief, she’d value other things apart from looks.

I suspect it’s a lack of confidence that makes her like she is. When she got together with DB, she was the famous one, but not through any talent, which she must have been aware of, so her time with the spice girls, although giving her the fame she wanted, wasn’t based on any real ability. Although DB wasn’t well known at that point he clearly had great talent as a footballer - the only other thing going for him apart from looks. So I suspect until she found a niche as a designer (by all accounts quite a good one) she felt very much on the back foot.

You do hear a lot of her celeb friends saying how much they like her and she did look very animated and happy when meeting people in the chapel.

I didn't like her outfit though. She's very pretty and I'd love to see her in something brighter and more fun

Footballers' salaries atm are obscene but Beckham wasn't earning those kinds of amounts at his peak. His wealth came from how he managed his money and what he did after football. A lot of ex footballers fall by the wayside after they stop playing. Poor investments and bankruptcy.

I do think she's self conscious but I think that comes from a place where she is only comfortable with the 'instagram' image of herself and her family. Anything that carries a risk that she might end up photographed in a way she can't control means there's a chance of her being pictured with an odd smile or a grimace she can't cope with. That may be why she's so relaxed in private.

Yes, he’s made lots of money. I don’t think anyone can deny he had a huge talent at football. Very few would deny that he’s also extremely good looking. But by all accounts he’s pretty dim, and he’s always on the gossip forums alleging he’s cheating. Not that that necessarily means it’s true, but you have to ask yourself why his name crops up again and again and hers never does.

VB scrubs up well, and has a particular ‘look’ that works well when she’s being a clothes horse, because she’s super skinny, she plasters on the make up and pouts. Other than that she’s perfectly pleasant looking, if a bit scrawny) but no where near the god like good looks DB possesses. Which wouldn’t matter a jot if they are truly in love and respect each other. But there’s a lot about VB which suggests she’s obsessed with appearances which is a shame because she’d probably have a happier life if she wasn’t.

Why does he need to have a brain to make money? He used his talent well, made some astute decisions, got the right people around him. Sometimes being sensible is cleverer than being intelligent.

Don’t really have a strong opinion on her one way or another, but I did grow up in the Spice Girl era.

What I don’t get is how she appears to have been one of the most hated female celebs throughout her career. What has she done to become as unpopular as she is, at least in here anyway? Even when the Rebecca Loos scandal came out back in 2004, she was the one being vilified; not David, not Rebecca. An ex friend I was having a conversation with at the time, said “she deserves it!” WTF?

A couple of posters earlier commented how people being negative on MN about VB are just jealous 'bullies'..... well, Victoria's 'scowl' and miserable demeanour have been mentioned all over the Press and Social media. Does that mean everyone else is a 'childish bully' too then for voicing their opinion?
