AIBU To think Victoria Beckham is a right mardy, stroppy looking mare. Anybody see the way she was looking out the corner of her eye at the crowds. Not a hint of a smile.

The guy with the beard wasn't Kirsty Young's husband. The larger man in the group, with the grey/blonde hair standing with the girl in pink (their daughter) is.

Don't have much of an interest in the Beckhams generally - but to me she looks very anxious and close to tears rather than just miserable for the sake of it.

As far as I can tell she has always been quite a private and self conscious person - maybe being in front of massove crowds with the world watching made her feel that way.

In any case, some of these comments are really shitty and mean.

They had a reality show one time and VB came across very well. She was laughing at the headlines in the papers saying they were all made up. I quite like the Beckhams. I think Victoria doesn't enjoy the lime light and constant media attention but she has no choice because of their fame/success. Now their children are stuck in it too.

I think she looked really nervous and I actually felt sorry for her. The footage on itv was a lot different to bbc. When becks stopped for a pic with a fan she looked really flustered and like she didn't know what to do

How can anyone say that VB doesn't like the limelight? She's constantly courted the press throughout her marriage to David and is now doing the same for her kids! She's an 'intensely private' person in the same way that Katie Price is. They'd shrivel up and die if they weren't famous anymore.

She's always had RBF (so have I, and there's nothing wrong with that) but it looked more than that yesterday. She looked desperately unhappy. She should ditch David once and for all, and move on with her life. Bollocks to Brand Beckham.

I think her life is a complete misery married to that pig of a man, my sister has met them both lots of times, she said Victoria is lovely, funny and normal but David Beckham is a rude pig

I reckon her feet were killing her, I saw a shot of her shoes and her feet looked all squished in and uncomfortable and like it was really hard to walk in them.

She's preoccupied with how she looks in photos, and for some reason has decided she doesn't look good while smiling.

I don't think it's a fatal character flaw, although it doesn't make her all that popular on MN and elsewhere.

I have met DB several times at DC football matches and he seems fine, but who doesn't? A recent situation has been very quickly suppressed and I'm not sure how that happened. It's possible they have an agreement between them, who knows? It must be hard for her to put in a public face sometimes and yesterday it certainly looked as if things are taking a toll. She is a successful, independent woman in her own right and I think she should focus on that.

Funny how there are such double standards.

I have migraines and a naturally gloomy looking face. I have a back problem and am often in pain. My friend has anxiety and a bowel problem that affect how she feels about going out in public. Frequently we struggle with social events and only go because we are making an effort for others.

Still we must smile, grin, charm, simper - whatever - because everyone else wants us to - and we are women so it's our job to "just smile and be nice"

A private person?!? Are you kidding?

She plays to the press everywhere she goes. Stopping and preening herself with her bank turned (because that makes you invisible) before strutting straight past the press, even in the instances where there are other routes where press could be avoided. She's had her own reality show. Turns up to the ribbon cutting of anything she can just to get a pic.

Her actions are not those of a private person. Personally I can't bear her.

Funny how a person can have all those ££££MMM and be that miserable. And they say money can't buy you everything, well it's true in her case!

I'm sure Meghan is the way she is, rain or shine. She has natural sparkle

One thing I don’t understand is that they chose to put their kids out there to build brand Beckham. You can be “hidden” from the press if you want to be. Surely they don’t need any more money & would the brand really collapse if they separated?

If you suffer terribly from mental or physical ailments, then perhaps a royal wedding is not for you. A wedding is a happy & joyful occasion, and if you think you can’t handle it then it would be better to stay at home.

Prince Phillip is 96 and has been in very ill health recently - he still managed a smile.

Her miserable face just came across as rude imo.

Don't be silly. She was a backing singer in a pop group that hasn't released a record in 20 years, married to a retired footballer. Does anyone care where Jason Orange was yesterday? Or Gary Linekar?

She is the driving force behind Brand Beckham. It was her choice to build a career out of being famous for being famous.

Quite why she continues to make that choice when she clearly hates the spotlight is anybody's guess- but she absolutely could have "retired" years ago if she wanted to.

I agree with @serenmoon, watching the footage she looks like she is really concentrating on walking In those shoes and I don't think she can keep up with beckham but he's oblivious. Too busy grinning and lapping up the crowd while she looks anxious

A 'self conscious and private person' would NOT be thrusting themselves in the limelight like VB has over the years!
I mean, she's even had the confidence to perform on stage without even have a singing talent I hasten to add strutting about wearing attention grabbing outfits.

A 'self conscious and private person' would also not be choosing a career which, again thrusts them into the limelight, by becoming a fashion designer.
Lack of confidence isn't her problem, in my opinion. I just think she's so full of her own self importance that, even IF she's in an unhappy marriage, she does'nt feel that she should even have to pretend she's happy to be at the Wedding with her husband, even if she's not.
I think she should've at least tried to not appear as such a miserable, mardy arse, for the sakes of the occasion, and for the fact she would've known millions of people would have to watch her sulkiness!.

She should be bloody grateful she was even invited!

I hate the smile brigade! Some people are natural smileys others aren't, some like be have natural resting bitch face, personally I don't mind if she doesn't smile I'm sure there is much more to her than a smile. I won't pander to the smile brigade, I won't stick and unnatural smi,e on my face to satisfy anyone and make them feel better. If they don't like it? Maybe they need to look beyond and actually get to know me before bitching that I need to smile more. I have a very wicked sense of humour and an awful lot of good patter bit some just can't get past me not having a smile on my face!
There is another thread on hear about the royals looking uninterested, again people seem to feel better if they looked interested. They probably were interested but weren't playing to the cameras as supposed to actually being uninterested but pretending to be.

What you see on persons face is on,y a very small part of them, and expecting them to put on a show to meet certain expectations is shit, if you knew them well you wouldn't need to see it you would know they were happy or interested etc.

Oh god. I do have to laugh at the notion of her being a private person.

I have to respect VB as a fairly canny businesswoman, but she's not a private person. I can't get on board with their children's complete lack of privacy (in the case of the younger ones) and their eldest son's various 'jobs' with Burberry etc. It's crass.

There's a lot of jealously on here and people going out of their way to slate some one just because she doesn't go around smiling all day? I can't recall seeing the Queen smile much but no ones pointed that out. People can't help the face they were born with.
