Having a bit of a stressful day, so I thought I'd focus on the things that are cheering me up!

  1. I'm working from home
  2. I have laundry drying on the line which will smell amazing when it's done
  3. my neighbours' cat is very cutely asleep on my garden bench

Tell me what is lifting your spirits today!

It's a bank holiday where I am today, so I have had a relaxing day at a lovely hotel. I have also taken tomorrow off, so no stress to get anywhere or do anything, apart from go to the post office and post a present for someone celebrating their 18th birthday next week.

Smeddum · 10/05/2018 16:30

DD had her friend round and they played out in the garden because it’s sunny for once!
DS1 is doing really well on his school trip away and trying loads of things he’s scared of an smashing it!
I had a lovely 3 way phone call with 2 friends who live miles away.

MinaPaws · 10/05/2018 16:38

The sun is shining so I had lunch sitting on the grass.

We have newts in our garden pond. I've spotted two of them swimming around. So cute.

Three people sang down the phone to me today and they were good!

wellBeehivedWoman · 10/05/2018 16:46

@MinaPaws newts! How fab!

These are all lovely things to enjoy Grin

  1. I'm on gardening leave from work so have free time.
  2. It's sunny!
  3. I've prepared dinner already :)
BlueTrousers · 10/05/2018 16:48

Ooo lovely thread! Mine are -

  • DS did some amazing sharing today at playgroup (he’s not been very good at sharing or taking turns but we are working on it so I was so proud he just did it by himself this morning)
  • A lovely mum I’ve never spoken to before came over and brought me a brew at snack time at playgroup while I was stuck under a feeding baby, a different Mum also got Ds’s snack for him
  • Our loft conversion is making some serious progress today (it’s been a long time coming!)
  • the weather is lovely; sunny but not too warm
  • Me & DP had a really productive conversation last night about the division of tasks around the house and this morning ran sooooo much smoother with more help from him, really started my day off well
Smile
BlueTrousers · 10/05/2018 16:48

Oh sorry I waffled a bit there Blush

wink1970 · 10/05/2018 16:57

perfect thread, as I am/was in a foul mood.

My step-daughter left me a lovely picture drawn by grand-daughter whilst I was out (she was here cleaning, the house smells & looks lovely).

The grass has finally grown in where I tipped moss killer on it accidentally.

I have a fab bottle of red wine breathing that i shall be consuming -inhaling- on the patio in about an hour

My day hasn't been the greatest, but I did manage to get DS to baby swimming which he absolutely adores. His wee smiling face and that laugh as he splashes and kicks and throws himself around ❤ best part of the week.

ZiggyTheCat · 10/05/2018 17:00

Seeing my little girl's face light up when she saw me waiting for her in the playground on the school run. I had been having a pretty rubbish day up until that point, she reminded me what's important.

wellBeehivedWoman · 10/05/2018 17:01

Love these! And not waffling at all pinkball!

Had an interview yesterday morning and found out today that I've got the job Grin

FoofFighter · 10/05/2018 17:06

I had the New York stack burger in McDonald's today, that made me pretty happy. Everything else has gone tits up today so I'm regarding that as my high point Blush

wellBeehivedWoman · 10/05/2018 17:13

Well done cobaltrose!!

WhatsGoingOnEh · 10/05/2018 17:29

Oh I LOVE this thread! I'm one to look for the black clouds, so this is the perfect antidote.

  1. I found loads of lovely clothes in Sales in my town this morning;
  2. DH is out tonight, and I'm going to do a HUGE beauty-treatment marathon;
  3. We're about to have dinner in the garden, which the DC have said they love. Then DS1 and I are going to watch a film. DC just get lovelier every day.
EnglishRose13 · 10/05/2018 17:38

Five mini flapjacks is all I've had to be happy about today.

I won't be happy on Saturday when I weigh in though...

MadisonAvenue · 10/05/2018 17:40

What a lovely thread!

The weather is perfect, sunny and not too warm, and I've had two lovely and very long walks with my dog in the countryside behind our house, and we hardly saw anyone else which is a bonus 😉

My house is clean and tidy and I have a rhubarb and pear wax melt on the go and it smells so lovely.

I've had time to crochet.

tierraJ · 10/05/2018 17:40

I got £2 off a tshirt in New Look

I had a good workout at the gym

I bumped into a work friend

I got asked out by friends for drinks on Saturday

My new rescue cat gets friendlier & less nervous everyday & was really funny today bless her (pic included).

krustykittens · 10/05/2018 17:42

The sun is shining and I have just bought some lovely green flower pots for my little patio. It is going to be a riot of colour with the flowers and the cushions on the bench this summer!

FoofFighter · 10/05/2018 17:42

@wellBeehivedWoman I think some people just don't notice the extra f Grin

Laiste · 10/05/2018 17:45

We only need a 25mm water mains pipe fitted from the street NOT the 32mm which i was worried we might! YAY! A 32mm would have meant so much more red tape and £££ and i was dreading another hidden 'issue'.

This has made me happy! :):):)

(very long painful drawn out house renovation)

mumsiedarlingrevolta · 10/05/2018 17:47

I remember now years and years ago (because DS was a baby and is now at Uni)
that I saw a thing on the telly about looking for the good in your day.

That at the end of each day you had to write 5 things-no matter how small- that were lovely bits of your day.

I was BF and cynical and sleep deprived and thought cheesy. But that I'd have a go. I actually remember writing how his cheek felt against mine as I carried him in the sunshine.

What I saw happening is that as I went through each day I was looking for the 5 things so started to notice them a bit more IYSWIM.

A bit of a self fulfilling prophecy.

MuddyForestWalks · 10/05/2018 18:14

foof the new York Stack is surprisingly good!

Syncope · 10/05/2018 18:44

My DH has been struggling with some serious mental health issues over the last year. This, combined with his ASD, has made getting out and doing things exceptionally difficult for him. So the fact that yesterday we made it to a big event that we'd both very much wanted to go to, which involved both large crowds of people and busy public transport (his two biggest triggers), makes me so proud I could burst. That's what's made me happy today. Smile
