To not be enjoying the heat?

yelloww · 07/05/2018 13:11

Currently not enjoying this heat with major period cramps and diarrhea Sad. I guess white trousers and a nice top is out of the question for me today!
Anyone else feel like there insides are being hacked out by mini borrower type people with axes? This heat is making it unbearable and making me very grumpy!! Poor Dh...

I am really struggling. 9 weeks pregnant with hideous sickness and all I want to do is snuggle under my slanket but it's too hot for that.

If we could just have a nice 18c with a coolish breeze I'd be really happy.

yelloww · 07/05/2018 13:28

Oh no poor you Sad. Yes agree about the blanket thing, that would be heaven but too hot for even a light blanket!

It’s only 20C here. I’m staying inside and looking forward to cooler temperatures tomorrow. I get hot and sweaty walking around, I get heat rashes and burn after 20 minutes in the sun.

Dobbythesockelf · 07/05/2018 13:36

I'm 33 weeks pregnant. I am hating it. I feel like I'm melting if I go outside for longer than 5 minutes. I'm all sweaty, my fat thighs are rubbing and my fingers have swelled up. I can't wait for it to be cooler.

Weezol · 07/05/2018 13:47

I have always been rubbish at proper summer weather. I can get sunburn under a 100 watt bulb. It's the speed with which the weather changes that flattens me, there's just no way to acclimatise.

Have had a lot of surgery for Crohn's, have an ostomy so balancing hydration is a bloody nightmare in this weather.

Props to all those currently brewing a person, I can't imagine how uncomfortable you must be.

Two tips from my experience: put a pack of facial/baby wipes in the fridge to wipe your face and neck with. Bliss.
A couple of clean flannels or hand towels in the freezer are also good for draping about your overheating self.

ForalltheSaints · 07/05/2018 13:50

Weather and news presenters should not assume we all enjoy warmer weather and the OP will not be alone.

donajimena · 07/05/2018 13:51

I was going to say you are unreasonable but if you are ill or upduffed then of course you aren't.
As I am fortunately neither ill or pregnant I'm loving it.

Mousefunky · 07/05/2018 13:51

I’ve always hated hot weather. It makes me feel queasy tbh and gives me a headache. I can’t wait for Autumn Grin.

Ohmydayslove · 07/05/2018 13:53

No ill and not pregnant so loving it. It literally cannot be hot enough for me and I adore it. Totally get why those above are suffering though Flowers

angryburd · 07/05/2018 14:04

I honestly can't stand hot weather, but I'd be as well admitting that I'm a member of the Klan or that I enjoy kicking puppies the way that some people react to that information!

Aylarose · 07/05/2018 14:08

The question could be 'AIBU to not be enjoying the heat when ill/feeling grim', in which case- definitely not!

I burn very easily so I'm not really enjoying the high UV level at the moment and the heat makes it difficult to walk my dog as she overheats easily.

My favourite weather is cool but sunny (with low-mid UV levels too!).

yelloww · 07/05/2018 17:28

I've given up now and gone to bed... too sore to be anywhere else

ILikeMyChickenFried · 07/05/2018 17:29

It's pleasant for me but then this time last year I was 30 weeks pregnant with twins and living in a tropical climate. People are making a hilarious fuss about a bit of sun.

Treaclepie19 · 07/05/2018 17:30

Get well soon :(
I'm always grumpy in the heat. I much prwfer winter.

Treaclepie19 · 07/05/2018 17:30

*prefer!

Mollie85 · 07/05/2018 17:31

I was you in Wednesday OP- bed, codamol and a fan (and my tens) was all I could do...
Hope you feel better soon Grin

0lgaDaPolga · 07/05/2018 17:31

Yep. I’ve got horrendous morning sickness and this heat is making me so much worse! I hate summer but love spring and autumn. I wish the weather would go back to proper spring and not this summer weather!

PickAChew · 07/05/2018 17:35

It's not nice summer weather here, today. It's really muggy and I'm hormonal and feeling light headed and itchy.

Doesn't help that I have an autistic child who keeps shutting all the bloody windows on the shady side of the house.

SadieHH · 07/05/2018 17:46

Yep it's horrid. Hate it. But yes, far more socially acceptable to admit you drown kittens than hate the heat.

Remind me to go on all the threads moaning about winter and laugh at them for moaning about a bit of cold. Wankers.

Treaclepie19 · 07/05/2018 17:48

Yes Sadie!
I'll join you.

LoniceraJaponica · 07/05/2018 17:49

I feel for you if you aren't enjoying it, but after what feels like a 9 month winter where I live this weather is bliss. Mind you, it probably isn't as hot where I am.

Mamabear1475 · 07/05/2018 17:50

I'm having a nightmare. 8mo dd is screaming, exhausted and will not go to sleep. She won't lie down unless the fan is and then she just lies there waving at it. I haven't even started cooking tea yet

ALongHardWinter · 07/05/2018 17:57

SadieHH Yes I'll join you too! Totally agree with you about it being more socially acceptable to admit that you drown kittens than hate the heat. Why do people take it as a personal insult if you say you don't enjoy temperatures touching 30 degrees? Don't get me wrong,I like a bit of warmth as much as the next person. But....there seems to be this mentality that the hotter, the better. 20 degrees is nice, therefore 30 degrees must be excellent. And 35 degrees is bloody fantastic! No it fucking well isn't.

keyboardkate · 07/05/2018 18:01

I used to be such a sun worshipper OMG. But nowadays I "Shade Bathe" LOL!

I love to see the blue skies and everyone in good humour, but I really cannot do the toasting and frying anymore. So a good book in the shade on a beautiful day is one of life's great pleasures.... well for me it is!

Off to Spain soon and luckily the place we have has a roof garden that is like a frying pan (for him) and a balcony with a small table that goes into shade about midday. Perfect for me!

But either way, there is nothing like blue skies and sun to bring out the best in people (mostly...).
