To be spooked by this

I'm not normally one to give much headspace to woo stories, and generally look for rational exlanations if anything a bit weird happens, but getting increasingly spooked by what appears to be a haunted phone.
I replaced my phone a few months ago, and my old phone is sitting on the chest of drawers in the bedroom. A couple of weeks ago I found it on the floor beside the drawers, picked it up and was surprised to find it turned on and charged. Didn't think much more about it, put it back on the chest of drawers and went to bed. A couple of minutes later it fell on the floor again. This was unsettling, and I couldn't explain it (no one else in room, no obvious movement. Can't remember whether I'd turned it off, but even if it had vibrated due to an alert this had never previously caused it to fall on the floor). Put it back and put it out of my mind. A few nights later I was again on my own in bed when the phone (definitely turned off this time) flew off the drawers and landed in the floor about a foot from them. Again picked it up and put it back. In the morning it was in the floor again, this time right by the bed.
Since then it has happened 2 or 3 more times, always when I was alone in the room and in bed. Told my partner, but she was unimpressed and didn't really indulge my wild imagination at all.
This evening we were both in the room, in bed about to go to sleep when again the phone flew off the drawers, this time landing under the bed, 2 or 3 feet from the drawers. Partner has finally agreed this is weird, with no obvious explanation.
I'm torn between finding this intriguing and wanting to see if it keeps happening, and being increasingly spooked.
Would love to hear pet theories and similar stories.

That's definitely a bit woo!! 😱

LilMadAgain · 04/05/2018 02:52

Nope. So much nope. Burn, bury or destroy that phone. Thanks a bunch for posting a spooky thread when I'm in a new fucking house and already struggling to sleep Grin

Iwasjustabouttosaythat · 04/05/2018 02:57

Have you tried keeping it somewhere that is not the chest of drawers? Perhaps it is the chest of drawers that is haunted? 🤔

Queenoftheblitz · 04/05/2018 03:07

Sounds like a mischevious spirit. A good test would be to leave it on the floor and see if it ends up back on the chest.

moofeatures · 04/05/2018 03:48

So many levels of nope.

(I dare you to text it)

TinyRick · 04/05/2018 04:22

Video please

flubdub · 04/05/2018 04:49

Shock Can you film it happening?
If not, burn it. Burn it with fire.

MissionItsPossible · 04/05/2018 05:17

Was the phone given as a present from someone who has now passed away?

Efrig · 04/05/2018 05:21

Just stick it in a drawer 😂

steppinOnLego · 04/05/2018 05:43

I'd open "notes" on the phone and type "is there any body there?" 😛

Mind you - if something replied I would have to move to the moon.

LisaSimps0n · 04/05/2018 07:08

Thanks for the replies - and sorry for posting so late at night when you were trying to get to sleep LilMad.
Did move the phone onto a bedside table last night, and can report it is still there this morning, but then this had only been happening once every couple of days or so on average, so further experiments needed there. There are a few other bits and pieces on the drawers, and it is only the phone that has been throwing itself to the floor.
I did try turning the phone in and checking it for messages, but nothing. Might try asking it a message as suggested by steppin, but would be so completely freaked out of I got a response that I'm not sure I dare.
Will try to film it, but it's so random and occasional that I think if be very lucky to succeed. Will of course post any video evidence I do manage to obtain (can you post videos in here?).
I am starting to get freaked, but it's somehow less frightening than I would have imagined it would be if someone described it. And as my 8 year old said, if it is a ghost, it is obviously a good one, otherwise it would have but me in the head! Grin

Take the battery out or run it down completely and see if it still does it... probably the vibrate mechanism's decalibrated.

LisaSimps0n · 04/05/2018 07:23

Battery can't be removed, but will run it down and see if that stops it.

Sounds really stupid (trying to desperately find a reasonable explanation for this) but could you put your phone on chest of drawers in a non-slip mat? Could it be sliding off?

Laiste · 04/05/2018 08:01

I would surround the phone with other bits and pieces and see if it still managed to 'get off' the chest of drawers.

I'd be buying a cheap camera to set up and film this. you could make £££££

Iputthescrewinthetuna · 04/05/2018 08:02

@Laiste that is a great idea! Surround phone and film! Could be the next 'Dear David'

ThomasHardyPerennial · 04/05/2018 08:04

What brand of phone is it?

Nakedavenger74 · 04/05/2018 08:04

@steppinOnLego 'move to the moon'. Made me heartily LOL on public transport

Buddyelf · 04/05/2018 08:08

Shameless place mark to see what happens with the haunted phone!

Laiste · 04/05/2018 08:12

Something very visual and unexplainable happened to me once. Woo'ish. I've always regretted not photographing it/videoing it. I had plenty of time. I had my phone in my hand at the time as well! Sometimes when things happen as a one off you're caught off guard though.

OP's thing is happening more than once. Film it pleeease! :)

Iwasjustabouttosaythat · 04/05/2018 08:15

Oh I wonder if there’s a new Dear David. Lisa, you weren’t reading Dear David on the phone were you? Maybe he’s come into your phone, like EVP. Shock

Shameless place marking!

sprinkleofsunshine · 04/05/2018 08:47

As above Grin

DragonMummy1418 · 04/05/2018 08:57

Magnetic reaction. 🤷‍♀️
Really don't believe in ghosts so I'd be shoving it in a drawer and passing it off as just one of those things.
