To be spooked by this

I'm not normally one to give much headspace to woo stories, and generally look for rational exlanations if anything a bit weird happens, but getting increasingly spooked by what appears to be a haunted phone.
I replaced my phone a few months ago, and my old phone is sitting on the chest of drawers in the bedroom. A couple of weeks ago I found it on the floor beside the drawers, picked it up and was surprised to find it turned on and charged. Didn't think much more about it, put it back on the chest of drawers and went to bed. A couple of minutes later it fell on the floor again. This was unsettling, and I couldn't explain it (no one else in room, no obvious movement. Can't remember whether I'd turned it off, but even if it had vibrated due to an alert this had never previously caused it to fall on the floor). Put it back and put it out of my mind. A few nights later I was again on my own in bed when the phone (definitely turned off this time) flew off the drawers and landed in the floor about a foot from them. Again picked it up and put it back. In the morning it was in the floor again, this time right by the bed.
Since then it has happened 2 or 3 more times, always when I was alone in the room and in bed. Told my partner, but she was unimpressed and didn't really indulge my wild imagination at all.
This evening we were both in the room, in bed about to go to sleep when again the phone flew off the drawers, this time landing under the bed, 2 or 3 feet from the drawers. Partner has finally agreed this is weird, with no obvious explanation.
I'm torn between finding this intriguing and wanting to see if it keeps happening, and being increasingly spooked.
Would love to hear pet theories and similar stories.

Cornettoninja · 04/05/2018 22:48

if we're indulging woo theories at all have you backed up everything on the phone you wanted to keep? Photos, videos any important old messages lurking around?

Birdshitbridgegotme · 04/05/2018 22:50

Ooo this is interesting I hope its woo not a reasonable explanation.

Lifeisabeach09 · 04/05/2018 22:52

Looking forward to an update.

I guess a modern 21st century ghost would want to communicate via mobile.

Mistoffelees · 04/05/2018 22:56

Ooh I really want to read Book of Dust, you've reminded me to order it OP completely misses point of thread

MsPavlichenko · 04/05/2018 22:59

Space for it to slio through on side. Why not put three books around it?

lunar1 · 04/05/2018 22:59

You have no idea if it's the phone, drawers or house. It sounds creepy as hell, burn the lot down and salt the earth.

Found it in a charity shop last week. Couldn't believe my luck.

Once, about 25 years ago, I experienced something similar. I stood next to a table, in a room alone and a small box suddenly flew off the table with such force that it bounced against me onto the floor.

About 15 years ago, I watched a heavy mirror on a wall move to the oddest angle right in front of my eyes, just inches away.

Two things in 40 odd-years, no idea what happened, but I believe that 'stuff' can happen. I'm always up for a rational explanation first though Grin

I’m in my mid-60’s and crazy shit like this is happening all the time. I find things in odd places and today my little Macbook is telling me it’s Friday and I know damn well it is Monday.

Seriously though - I thought I had a haunted toothbrush. I was using my son’s old toothbrush he’d chucked out to clean mud off some shoes. It started moving about on its own in the bottom of the sink. I watched it for ages and I will admit I was scared. I told my son something very creepy was going on and he’d better come and look. Well.....the toothbrush was one of those that has a tiny battery in it and vibrates.

BlueTrousers · 04/05/2018 23:02

Ooo this just got interesting ... Grin excited!

neveradullmoment99 · 04/05/2018 23:22

Interesting Grin Hope it moves and you capture it. I am sure there is a logical explanation.

Papergirl1968 · 04/05/2018 23:34

The toothbrush story reminds me of when I first had an electric toothbrush and it wouldn’t turn itself off one day, but carried on buzzing till the charge ran out. I took it back to Boots and told them it was possessed! The assistant exchanged it but was Hmm
My current toothbrush does it occasionally when it’s running low on charge and gets a bit too wet.
Watching with interest to see if the phone moves again!

Once had an iPad which developed a life of it's own. Switched from website to website, added random "paragraphs" to my emails while I looked on horrified. Had it produced proper words I would have ran a mile.
The guy at the Genius Bar asked the problem and I said this iPad is possessed. Nothing more. He went to the back shop and brought out a new one. Didn't ask for any details at all.
Later I found a video on YouTube showing another iPad doing the exact same thing so have to assume it was a "known fault".

LisaSimps0n · 05/05/2018 08:37

Phone hasn't moved over night. I will remove book this evening and film again.
