To be spooked by this

I'm not normally one to give much headspace to woo stories, and generally look for rational exlanations if anything a bit weird happens, but getting increasingly spooked by what appears to be a haunted phone.
I replaced my phone a few months ago, and my old phone is sitting on the chest of drawers in the bedroom. A couple of weeks ago I found it on the floor beside the drawers, picked it up and was surprised to find it turned on and charged. Didn't think much more about it, put it back on the chest of drawers and went to bed. A couple of minutes later it fell on the floor again. This was unsettling, and I couldn't explain it (no one else in room, no obvious movement. Can't remember whether I'd turned it off, but even if it had vibrated due to an alert this had never previously caused it to fall on the floor). Put it back and put it out of my mind. A few nights later I was again on my own in bed when the phone (definitely turned off this time) flew off the drawers and landed in the floor about a foot from them. Again picked it up and put it back. In the morning it was in the floor again, this time right by the bed.
Since then it has happened 2 or 3 more times, always when I was alone in the room and in bed. Told my partner, but she was unimpressed and didn't really indulge my wild imagination at all.
This evening we were both in the room, in bed about to go to sleep when again the phone flew off the drawers, this time landing under the bed, 2 or 3 feet from the drawers. Partner has finally agreed this is weird, with no obvious explanation.
I'm torn between finding this intriguing and wanting to see if it keeps happening, and being increasingly spooked.
Would love to hear pet theories and similar stories.

Maybe leave a note with the phone saying ‘we are watching you’ Grin

A similar thing happened to a couple of friends of mine. Keys coming off the hook and being found several feet away and the radio and TVs turning on by themselves, sometimes in the night. They were pretty frightened as it was so freaky.

Anyway, they got a spiritual person in to clear the house and it all stopped. Apparently, it was a spirit who was trying to get their attention.

Years ago I was convinced my phone was possessed Grin

One day, it just started typing by itself. Not clear words, the odd one made sense, but it was an iPhone so no keys jammed down or anything. I drew the line when it started 'listening'. The cursed thing was sitting on my bed and kept typing words it was hearing from the adverts from the TV that was on.

I took it to the shop, they had no idea, but cited my insurance and advised I drowned it in the toilet or sink.

So I'd actually suggest drowning rather than fire Grin

I've known things like these to happen with electronic equipments espcialy anything with a microprocessor in it. Nothing woo about that at all and that can be phones, ipads and other gear seemingly doing things by themselves.

Now if i told you of the tale of a man whose heard or experenced voices in his head c/w odd bits of music then you'd on the face if it think thats deffo woo!.

Not at all, happened to someone living in Droitwich close to the massive BBC Radio 4 longwave transmitter! Seemed that fillings in his teeth were acting as a demodulator rather in the same way as in the early days of radio you had a cats wisker on a lump of crystal!

Its the same sort of thing as when your mobile rings next to the landline phone or your PC speakers and you get that "galloping horses" sound. Its demodulating the Quadrature Amplittude Modulated waves from your phone.

No mystery re that effect at all !.

Placemarking with no small amount of glee.

"Just shove it in a drawer-"

Exactly!

Fletchasaurus · 05/05/2018 20:31

Shameless placemark... genuinely intrigued!

DonttouchthatLarry · 05/05/2018 21:05

Laiste please please share your experience - I'm intrigued!

GirlsBlouse17 · 05/05/2018 21:14

What if you put a different phone there in the same place? See if the same thing happens with a different phone.

GirlsBlouse17 · 05/05/2018 21:20

My phone dialled all by itself an old friend of mine on his landline number (even though his number was not in my contacts list or ever been called by me or he had never called me on this phone)

NigellasGuest · 05/05/2018 21:31

Try turning it off and on again 😏

MarthaArthur · 05/05/2018 22:39

I had a possesed camera once. It would turn itself on each night around 3am and would make a jingle noise. The lense would pop out and it would take a few photos and shut itself off. The photos were just dark nothing in them. I took the battery out and it did it again that night! I shoved it deep into a box and covered it with stuff and forgot about it. After i moved out of that house the camera went missing. Havent seen it since though i suspect its somewhere in my current home.

BlueTrousers · 05/05/2018 22:41

Omg Martha that gave me goosebumps Shock

MarthaArthur · 05/05/2018 22:44

The funny thing is it did it throughtout the night once. I was so tired as it had no battery and i covered it with a tshirt. It went quiet finally and the next day i had a work man in working on the boiler in the room next door. I told him about it and he laughed and said thats ridiculous and then the jingle sounded loudly in my room. He just looked at me a bit sheepishly 😂 i went and showed him it and it started taking photos again. He was freaked out when i showed him the empty battery place he told me to burn it lol

Sorry to disappoint again, nothing to report this morning again. Will continue to try to film it, and promise to update if/when anything happens.
There are some fascinating / creepy stories here - Girlsblouse and Martha especially.
