Masked men try to prevent women from attending a lawful, public meeting to discuss the impact of proposed changes to the law on women's rights:

No, it look like our MRA is trapped in Hotel California.

sentMai Not sure why it bothers you then.
Sorry but your posts are too long to read.
Anyone who has anything sensible to say can say it succinctly. Otherwise it's generally verbiage intended to obscure.

LineyHasntLeftTheBuilding · 22/04/2018 16:51

Why do MRA posts always get longer and longer? Is it some kind of syndrome?

Ritzsaltedcrackers · 22/04/2018 16:51

They’re wearing masks so it’s more difficult to ID them should they attack any of the women there as their friend Tanis Wolf did last September.

Elendon · 22/04/2018 16:51

I think there's a subtle difference between intimidation, perceived threat and actual violence

It's a few angry keyboard warriors (or old women who want to rant in private in an upstairs function room in Bristol) but have no intention of a discussion, just intelligent snide comments.

You really are not very subtle at all.

@sentMai

sentMai · 22/04/2018 16:53

@Ritzsaltedcrackers

"he’s still here."

BINGO

With that, I've demonstrated everything I mentioned hours ago.

Good luck to you all.

AngryAttackKittens · 22/04/2018 16:53

They also get more and more open with their misogyny as time goes on. Old women, eh? Terrible, that, we should all be whisked away to die at 30 like we're in Logan's Run.

MsMcWoodle · 22/04/2018 16:53

Don't know about anyone else but I've been having a really satisfying day weeding the garden. Every time I pop in for a tea SentMai is still at it. Poor sod.

Elendon · 22/04/2018 16:54

It's important to expose people who care not for the safety of those who wish to exercise their freedom of speech.

Hackedoffwoman · 22/04/2018 16:57

One of the speakers at Bristol was a 20 yr old student. Guess Sentmai hasn't bothered to watch the live stream of the meeting...

Ritzsaltedcrackers · 22/04/2018 17:01

Yes, she was brilliant wasn’t she?

merrymouse · 22/04/2018 17:05

Cordelia Fine winning any kind of award is a wonderful example.

Not sure what you mean here - could you elaborate?

True. However, these laws will bring the UK into line with many other EU countries. They make it easier for trans people and, as far as I can see, have minute impact on anyone.

They don’t bring legislation into line because we have different legal systems and aren’t starting from the same base.

How would you begin to judge the effect of dividing people into groups based on gender anyway? It’s not as though women in any country don’t suffer from discrimination.

On the other hand gender stereotypes are harmful and it is dangerous and wrong to pretend that biological sex doesn’t have consequences.

Why not start with legislation that makes sense - question when segregation is necessary, provide facilities that recognise people’s needs and affirm everybody’s write to dress and behave as they like free from discrimination?

summerinthecountry · 22/04/2018 17:06

Poor sentmai you have my sincerest sympathy if this is your idea of fun on a sunny Sunday.
I would have the smallest amount of respect for you if you understood even in the smallest way the position of others -and remembered your own lies further up thread-

Lets talk about something much more interesting like the 20 year old student, she sounds great.

Bravo to all the wonderful women that are putting themselves out there, despite it all Wine

Ereshkigal · 22/04/2018 17:07

Please stop using the misogynistic slut TERF about women standing up for women and girls, @sentMai. I personally find it both inaccurate and offensive. Thank you.

AngryAttackKittens · 22/04/2018 17:10

It's definitely encouraging to see women that age not buying into the self-ID nonsense.

Ereshkigal · 22/04/2018 17:10

as far as I can see, have minute impact on anyone.

Yes but you just handwave away other women's feelings. You don't appear to have a lot of empathy for women and girls.

TerfsUp · 22/04/2018 17:12

I see TERF used more frequently in MN usernames (proud self-description)

Nope. Wrong. Don't tell me why I have the username I do.

Ereshkigal · 22/04/2018 17:13

Actual physical hurt or damage to the "victim".

If you push someone on stairs, the fact that they don't fall down and hurt themselves is luck. Pushing people on stairs is obviously violence and I suspect another reason the women didn't want to push past.

TerfsUp · 22/04/2018 17:13

Yes it is a shame for the transgender that are peaceful and respectful and considerate of other women, they are fast losing their support which seems unfair

Transgender women are transgender; they are not women. Therefore, they can't lose the support of "other women".

Ereshkigal · 22/04/2018 17:15

I guess my ego likes to be stroked.

The first rays of self awareness begin to penetrate Grin

AngryAttackKittens · 22/04/2018 17:16

Probably the only thing that's getting stroked...

ShotsFired · 22/04/2018 17:16

On the topic of how men and women deal with feeling intimidated...

This guy was pissed off at the thought some silly little woman found his presence in a dark alley intimidating, so he did what any sane rational fellow would do.

Yes, he "proceeded to chase her, grunting and growling loudly, as he trailed her journey home" Angry

Her screams make my blood run cold even though I know it turns out ok(!) in the end.

Ereshkigal · 22/04/2018 17:17

Obviously TERF is a misogynistic slur not my unfortunate typo Grin

summerinthecountry · 22/04/2018 17:18

I think this conversation needs to go far more mainstream to get much more support.

In some ways it is helpful that they are being exposed, it shows very clearly that these men are (very) far from the victim of society's cruel labelling, and every bit the dangerous thugs we know them now to be.

Public sympathy will vanish, and it will do no harm for those of us wishing to get this law stopped in its tracks.

Maybe they should carry on...it is doing their cause far more harm than good.
