Masked men try to prevent women from attending a lawful, public meeting to discuss the impact of proposed changes to the law on women's rights:

No need to be patronising. I don't believe having a particular kind of personality is what determines whether a person is male or female. That comes from anatomy.

AngryAttackKittens · 22/04/2018 16:22

Being consistently condescending would be a perfect example of a trait that occurs in both sexes.

Elendon · 22/04/2018 16:23

That's the truth though re Bindel article. Why deny reality, when reality stares hard at you in the face?

sentMai · 22/04/2018 16:24

@AngryAttackKitten

"Being consistently condescending would be a perfect example of a trait that occurs in both sexes."

But we have mansplaining?

summerinthecountry · 22/04/2018 16:25

sentmai

You are a tory loving mother of two and yet you are complaining about the use of mansplaining?

Seriously.

Please stop hijacking the thread.

Mammasmitten · 22/04/2018 16:26

Scary. These masked people free to intimidate someone in this way. Free to violate this person's freedom of movement and freedom to choose where she wanted to go just because they disagree with the content of the meeting. Aggressive and oppressive. I'm pro freedom of speech, freedom to peacefully protest, freedom to disagree but not freedom to intimidate, freedom to restrict someone's access to an event they were invited to or freedom to violate someone's right to feel safe. Awful, chilling behavior. I'm seeing more and more of this oppressive behavior every passing year and I wonder how far it's all going to get.

sentMai · 22/04/2018 16:28

"Tory loving" is your opinion. Anyway, I'll leave you to it.

Good luck fighting those violent terrorists!

AngryAttackKittens · 22/04/2018 16:28

Ah, an anti-feminist then? Indeed, mansplaining is its own specific behavior, but women are also capable of unwarranted smugness and a rather laughable confidence in the rightness of their every opinion.

summerinthecountry · 22/04/2018 16:28

mammasmitten

It is oppressive and chilling and we need to do something about it.

sentMai · 22/04/2018 16:31

@AngryAttackKittens

An unusual equivalence. Feminists love a bit of cause misandry.

Anyway, I'll leave you to it. The intelligent replies / posters seem to have left.

Good luck against the terrorists. Let me know what MI5 say.

Mammasmitten · 22/04/2018 16:31

Sentmai, is online trolling a hobby for you? Seriously, get a new hobby. Try something useful.

summerinthecountry · 22/04/2018 16:32

sentmai

You have clearly forgotten what you have written five pages back when you described yourself as tory, white and middle class to upper if we are to consider your husband's title. How awful that you forgot your own post.

Maybe your a left leaning lesbian now with several children, either way it is entirely irrelevant.

The good news WE won't be fighting the violent thugs, the legal system will be, as now we truly know what we are dealing with then we will be much more insistent on a police presence.

Juells · 22/04/2018 16:35

Mother of two Hmm

AngryAttackKittens · 22/04/2018 16:35

Can't say that I'm all that concerned about the options of the kind of person who thinks "misandry" is a thing that society ought to be concerned about.

Toddle off back under the bridge, eh? I'm sure there are still a few goats left.

YetAnotherSpartacus · 22/04/2018 16:36

Anyway, I'll leave you to it. The intelligent replies / posters seem to have left

Nah, we're still here.

Mammasmitten · 22/04/2018 16:36

Summerinthecountry, you are right about that. We have to do something about it. This is happening across the world. People have to unite against oppression.

LineyHasntLeftTheBuilding · 22/04/2018 16:39

I'm here, just waiting for the boring, derailing droneathon to end.

yetanothertranswoman · 22/04/2018 16:41

All I can do is repeat myself. I don't like TERFs. I wouldn't have liked to be in the situation that the women attending the meeting were in. I don't agree with the protesters' actions although vaguely agree with the sentiment

I am on the Terf blocker list.
I am also transsexual.

How does that work? Should I not be listening to myself and blocking myself on Twitter?

sentMai · 22/04/2018 16:44

@summerinthecountry

"Tory leaning". The only party I've ever actively campaigned for is Blair's.

Don't let the truth get in the way of your posts though.

I also predicted the outcome of this thread and @Kittens "toddle off" shows how correct I am.

That is the issue with so many TERF discussions. They aren't discussions. It's a few angry keyboard warriors (or old women who want to rant in private in an upstairs function room in Bristol) but have no intention of a discussion, just intelligent snide comments.

Good luck.

Ritzsaltedcrackers · 22/04/2018 16:45

Has the tedious men’s rights activist finally gone? Or was it a pretend flounce where she/he/they is actually refreshing the page every few minutes to see what people are saying post pretendy flounce? Smile

AsAProfessionalFekko · 22/04/2018 16:46

Old women who want to rant

You're a charmer.

LineyHasntLeftTheBuilding · 22/04/2018 16:48

TERF- a specious label used as an insult and applied to people that the labellers don't understand and to arguments and discussions they haven't listened to.

AngryAttackKittens · 22/04/2018 16:48

Pretend flounce. Is anyone actually surprised?

sentMai · 22/04/2018 16:48

@AsAProfessionalFekko

Have you seen the speaker?

----------

I find it hard to leave as I find the new replies so gratifying. I said that these threads always end up with anyone not toeing the line being called a man, troll, MRA etc and it's all happened at once.

I guess my ego likes to be stroked.

Whisky2014 · 22/04/2018 16:48

Why are they wearing masks?
