To be panicking re. call back to a&e?

So took my 3 year old to a&e two nights ago as she managed to get hold of button batteries from a supposedly (!) secure location in our house and I couldn't be 100% sure she hadn't put one in her mouth and they can be very dangerous. I was almost certain she hadn't but better to be safe than sorry of course.

No battery showed up on the x ray so all fine.

Got a call this evening asking me to bring her back in to a&e tomorrow morning and I have spent the rest of tonight an anxious mess. The person on the phone couldn't offer any information about what it's regarding.

Anyone have any experiences of being called back to a&e after an x-ray? I'm assuming it's not battery related as I think they would have had us back in straight away and the doctor said when we were originally at the hospital that they are pretty easy to spot. But sounds like something semi urgent if they want her in at such short notice?

I don't think I will sleep tonight. No point to this post really and apologies for posting in AIBU but appreciate the traffic in case anyone has had a similar situation or knowledge.

It can't be an emergency or you would be back there now, those battery's are very dangerous, it's always worrying having a child but try to stay calm as your child will pick up on your anxiety, maybe a senior member of staff has reviewed the X-Ray and want to discuss this with you or maybe they picked up on something else during the consultation that they want to discuss with you -They may just want to check that your child is well after the incident

What time will you be going in?

I hope it goes well.

I think that it's wrong, these days, not to give patients some idea of what!/ up medically. Because we all Google, and what we find could well be more frightening than it might be if given some idea what they suspected was up.

Thinking of you this morning OP, hoping there is a simple reason and you will sigh with relief once she has been seen.

HOpe it goes ok x

ScarlettDarling · 19/04/2018 07:37

I'm guessing that when someone senior has checked the x rays, they've not been clear enough and need to be redone. Sorry you've had such a worrying night and hoping you get the reassurance you need today.

Exhaustedpidgeon · 19/04/2018 07:42

Fingers crossed all goes well for you this morning xxx

LemonySippet · 19/04/2018 07:43

I'm sure it won't be a battery OP or they would have wanted you straight back in. Fingers crossed it's just something mundane Flowers

YearOfYouRemember · 19/04/2018 08:06

Try not to worry as it's not urgent to get her back last night and if they've found something they are looking after her.

Please don't panic too much, OP. I've been recalled from x rays lots of times and I'm still here and fine!

It's no problem that they won't give reports over the phone: they really don't give any. They read to see what the doctors notes say that you've already been told and have to stay within those boundaries.

All the best Thanks
